You should note that you had previously removed the battery tray which is the only reason the back pops of cleanly, otherwise the battery cable would restrict that.
I have honestly never needed to flash a receiver. The newer QX7's have a port on the bottom you can use to do this, but mine is one of the initial runs where this port doesnt work, so anything I post about that is going to be wrong for about 90% of people.
So helpful! Can i ask a few stupid questions? I have only ever flown cheapo drones and a nice early-model DJI phantom 2. i thought a fun project to do with my 10 year old this summer would be to build "budget" FPV drones for us to fly. I have settled on this radio and my first question is will it work on its own with one of those computer drone simulators or do i need an adapter? I'd love to be able to plug it into the computer and get us both some practice before building and summarily crashing a drone. My next question is why the preference for a throttle that doesn't "return to zero"? the gimbals on my DJI P2 both return to 0 but it seems like literally everybody does it the way you describe. thanks!
The Q X7 connects to computers for simulators with no issues. Turn it on, plug it in (USB is on the bottom) and it should detect as a joystick. I thought I had done a video about this already but apparently I haven't edited it. I think the throttle not returning to zero is more about feel and resistance. You need to feel when you are centered in the yaw pitch and roll axis, but 'zero' for throttle is at the bottom so its not needed. It would also get progressively harder to push it as you throttled up more.. I dont really know the exact reasons, but almost all RC aircraft radios are like this. I'm sure you could try it and see how it goes.
I just ordered the x7 and I have a makerfire armor65 lite what do I do to connect the quad to the x7. I'm new to fpv and this is my first transmitter. I think I'm suppose to get a mtx90 multiprotocol do you know a place in the USA where I can order one.
Hi there x Mode i bought a new X7 and i also have a Jumper 4in1 module because i have 2 hubsan racing quads..the H122D X4 Storm and the H123D Jet.Can you show how to configure the radio so i can bind it to my 2 quads? Thanks in advance!
I see you are on the Simulator model. Some vids show to uncheck the mass storage option in Companion for simulation. Can you explain the difference for that option. Thank you.
+rcwck mass storage mode means it will mount as a drive in Windows when you plug it in. For a simulator you don't want this. Normal behavior (ie, not ticking the box) and it becomes a joystick, which is perfect.
I'm a noob to OpenTx and the TaranisQ X7. Why do I get a pop up dialogue that says something along the lines of "Unable to get updates" when I try to update the firmware?
Hi, useful video thanks. I don't understand what the SD card content does? I don't have an SD card in mine (just arrived today) but when I do put one in do I need to add the contents of the zip file? (sdcard-taranis-x7-2.2V0010)
+Mike Hogan it's for the sound files so you get sound notifications (one of the radios most useful features for fpv) and scripts. You don't need one to use the radio, but it's well worth putting in an old 1gig (or even less) card. The zip file gives you the basic voice files and the right folder structure so it's a great place to start. You can find replacement sound files in heaps places but most of them add on to the base one.
Hi great video. Now i have done everything that you have shown in the video and the transmitter does talk, but i miss some amber voices that everybody else seems to have. For example "moters armed" Do i have to download another pack to get all of the basics voices? So far i only downloaded the things shown in your video. Thank you!
I dont use it myself but it can be downloaded from here : www.dropbox.com/s/3t7p9t6ykufhsfx/Amber22.rar?dl=0 There are a bunch of additional resources linked to in the first few posts in this thread on RCGroups (including the link above) : www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2818003-FrSKY-Taranis-Q-X7-FAQ-discussion-info-the-younger-full-featured-radio
Nice, thanx. Do you know what cable it needs to connect it to a flight simulator? It is mandatory to install the Sdmicro card in it?Do you know a free and nice simulator that can run on an old and cheap laptopwith his windows xp software?Thank you, and I will sure check out more content on uour youtube channel.Have a nice day
+PauL TerL SD card isn't required but you won't get any sound without it. It plugs in to your pc with a mini USB cable (the old style one, not the newer thinner micro). I don't know of any free Sims, but both fpvfreerider and velocidrone have trials (and probably more). The Velocidrone is pretty good (1 drone, 1 track, no multiplayer, but you can play it as much as you want)
XMode Wow! thanx for the fast replay!! Okay, FINE, no sounds, cool, I believe that I prefer it mute. And I will check out this two sims. The cable is already here I believe, is the one that goes with the GoPro, right(?). (I'm waiting for my QX7 to arrive). Even thanx for the vid and for the replay. Happy flying Ciao!
Hi. Just received my new qx7. Do I need to update the firmware to be able to select d8 mode? I can only set to D16 for some reason. My radio is "eu lbt". Many thanks Greg
+Greg Zelent the EU firmware can't bind to older receivers because they aren't compliant to EU regulations. If you aren't in the EU or don't care about being legal you'll need to flash with the non EU firmware. I don't have a video on how to do this.
XMode thank you. I'm in UK. I've decided to keep this one and change the receiver with eu firmware. My Furbiee Darkmax is coming from China. I will replace the existing receiver with xm+ eu version and should be good to go I hope. Do you agree? Thank you.
frankie Martinez I haven't seen that quad before so I googled it. Looks nice. I suspect the process is the same as all other frsky receivers. I can do up a quick video on how to bind them this weekend, but it won't be specific to that model.
I have a binding video here th-cam.com/video/aDZjEpZ-ut0/w-d-xo.html The steps for the L9R are almost exactly the same but instead of selecting D8 or D16 you select LR12.
+Michael Stark not by default. Some resellers add one, but it's not a huge deal. I just swapped to a 256MB one from a really old phone and I can fit all the default files plus 3 sound packs and i still have about 50MB free. I don't think you can even buy cards that small anymore.
You should note that you had previously removed the battery tray which is the only reason the back pops of cleanly, otherwise the battery cable would restrict that.
Great video, thanks! One thing you could do is, how to make the cable to flash receivers' firmware. MTIA !

+Matthew Tran only thing I can think of is you haven't enabled the pre-release option. 2.2 still isnt officially released.

+Greg Zelent yep that should fix it :).
XMode Thanks 👍
I got an error message "Could not check firmware from Radio" when I tried to write to Tx. Could someone help me out? Did I do something wrong?
I'm waiting for the remote to come qx7 could you help me blind my King Kong 90 GT to the Q X7 remote

TARANIS...not TARANAS
