Maaan, can't wait to finally see the 2nd addition of Modern Horizons!!
WHAT YEAR IS IT
oh boy, I hope they have some free spells in it!
I heard its coming whether you like it or not
I even checked the video post date to make sure I didn't just clicked an old video LOL
Corrupted Shapeshifter is a reference to Primal Clay, whose first printing was all the way back in Antiquities.
Incidentally, Corrupted Shapeshifter is the _2nd_ reference to Primal Clay. In Planar Chaos, there was Primal Plasma.
EDIT: Or maybe Corrupted Shapeshifter is more a reference to Primal Plasma where the latter is no longer an artifact creature but purely a Blue creature?
Primal Plasma is the card I thought of when I saw it. I think it's that
Vince read the card and I immediately thought 'that's primal clay'
was just typing this out, and then I thought I should scroll down to check.
Vince was focusing on the art being a reference, and I think just overlooked the mechanical reference.
Came here to say this.
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but lands are colorless, so that 8 mana eldrazi will gain you life equal to the number of lands you control plus other colorless permanents. It’s going to heal you for 10 more often than for 3.
I had a thought, the Wumpus hasn't been on any plane the Eldrazi have been on, to my knowledge. Maybe it's hinting at a greater story of the Influence of Emrakul flowing to other planes through the newly opened Omenpaths and they're using MH3 as a launch board for that.
Then I rememeber this is WotC and what is lore and story.
It's a reference to the long awaited Magic movie, which will be netflix exclusive produced by hallmark: During the holiday season, a 35 year old single Wumpus omenpath travels on a business trip to a small town called innistrads moon, where it has a chance encounter with a laid-back eldrazi titan who's very good with kids and has an interesting perspective on life. This begins a humble love story resulting in this card, their child.
Yea, it’s just a card they made. Lore and story are gone. We just power creep garbage out now. The worst part is, us fools keep buying it.
Breaker of Creation : Remember, Lands are colorless permanents. This is likely going to be gaining 10+ life each time.
In commander*
@@michaelcollins4534playing it on curve or slightly ahead in limted still gains 6-8
@@greenthunder8633 > on curve
you mean turn 4?
@ClubbingSealCub what limited are you building where you cast this on turn 4 consistently lmaoooo
@@greenthunder8633the one where I open 4 ugin's labyrinths of course
Devourer of Destiny pitching to Ugin's Labyrinth is insane. You essentially get a Once Upon A Time to filter your draws for a good card and a Sol land to cast it - and it's pre-game so the dig can't even be countered by free counterspells.
Unsealing also seems nuts. It isn't even colorless creature spells, so you can pitchcast Grief or Subtlety and get 2 mana or blockers, and then just Ancestral Recall off big things.
Pitchcast Grief or Subtlety, get 2 mana, cast Scion of Draco with 2 mana, draw 3 cards. For the low low cost of 2 cards, you get 3 cards, a Grief or Subtlety effect, and a Scion of Draco :)
I liked when the video didn't cover Kozilek's Unsealing.
Real ones remember.
@@PleasantKenobi It was roughly 2 minutes and 5 seconds of glory.
@@PleasantKenobi It's mistakes like that that remind me that Brits are real humans like us

Corrupted Shapeshifter is inspired by the card " Primal Plasma" which allows you to choose if it be a 3/3, a 2/2 with flying or a 1/6 defender and it also costs 4 mana and its blue
Per an other commenter above, Primal Plasma was already a reference, to Primal Clay. So that would be the root inspiration.
Planar Chaos, my first taste of Magic
I instantly thought about the card Shapeshifter from Alpha
Sooooo are we not going to talk about how breaker of corruption says “colorless permanents” and not “colorless nonland permanents?”
No, shut up.
Yeah, but others have better cast triggers
Yeah, but this is a limited bomb I think lol
You're acting like this is the first time you've seen annihilator.
I appreciate that your CoolStuff ad has a picture of you and the dog on it. Ad is improved.
thought monitor looks like its committing war crimes for the US. LOL
That joke got me good

Regarding the Breaker of Creation - aren't lands colorless permanents?
Yes. They will count towards its effect
Corrupted Shapeshifter is the successor to the Primal Duology (Clay and Plasma) of Spells, which they enter as your choice of a 3/3, 1/6 with Defender or 2/2 with Flying. It's a weird reference for sure, but I'm honestly the most excited for this stupid card.
Simulacrum Synthesizer and Kozilek's Unsealing together will be great the affinity decks.
Think you will struggle to fit both in lists with sufficient support.
Corrupted Shapeshifter is a call back to Primal Clay
I can see what people are saying- it's a 3 mana do nothing and the first time you hit it's a draw 3 that cost 3 (which is only okay of a rate really). But if you do *anything* else with it beyond that the value is just insane. Either draw a second time or create mana from it, both make it pretty great.
lot of people are fairly commenting about thought monitor with kozilek's unsealing... but another one is even outside of an artifact deck, you can evoke a nulldrifter and draw 5 as well.
the main affinity creatures are 4 and 7 drops too
Corrupted Shapeshifter is a callback to Primal Plasma from Planar Chaos, which also had 3 modes: a flier, a defender and a normal creature (although this one has vigilance)
i was just gunna mention the affinity potential then you mention it as i was typing holy fuck this will be good
Love your content mate, but corrupted shape shifter, is a throwback to the classic alpha card "shape shifter" which costs 6 colourless mana to cast and when it enters you can choose for it to be either a 3/3 creature, a 2/2 with flying or a 0/6 wall (creature with defender in new money!).
quick addendum on breaker of creation.
You're gaining way more than you think because Lands are colorless permanents.
Breaker of Creation also working for Lands is kidna big. You'll probably always gain at least 6, possible more, if you hard cast it.
Can you evoke the new null drifter for 2U and draw 5 cards with unsealing in play? I assume you can, and that's absolutely insane
Oh fuck. Yeah. Mad shit.
Kozilek's unsealing is going to be bonkers with Ulalek and echoes of eternity. Cast 1 spell, pay 2 and get 8 spawns or 12 cards. If you invest a little into eldrazi with flash (or somehow giving them flash), you can get a combinatoric explosion going, doubling every card and every cast trigger that came before each cast for 2 each time. If you have something to return cast eldrazi to your hand (for instance by casting dimensional infiltrator and bouncing it repeatedly) you can in principle keep the stack exploding forever with infinite mana (or until you mill all your opponents). At the very least you can have some very explosive turns.
The Corrupted Shapeshifter is referencing the original Primal Clay that was in Antiquities. It's what Skinshifter was also referencing.
The Corrupted Shapeshifter is a reference to Shapeshifter as it had the similar ability to select power/toughness on etb as well as the face/hair is the same.
Breaker of Creation is kinda fun in how it's perfectly optimized against rewarding Tron, since each land counts towards the stabilizing life gain swing.
Me playing Jhoira, all the affinity for artifact creatures, and I already draw a card for casting an artifact, on TOP OF ALL THE OTHER DRAW EFFECTS. With the enchantments that make me draw an additional card. Thanks Wizards! Thanks for making my silly artifact draw deck more silly.
If I’m not mistaken corrupted shapeshifter is a callback to primal plasma from planar chaos
Kozilek's Unsealing is gonna make my 4-colour big creatures absolutely crazy... like... having this out while cascading away with Yidris, Maelstrom Wielder. Yeah... good times.
I think back to the OG variable artifact creatures like Shapeshifter or Primal Clay when I see the Corrupted Shapeshifter. That card is weird and I love everything about it.
I remember the two minute version that didn’t talk about Kozilek’s Unsealing - bring it back!
For affinity, draw three might often read "tou win the game" given how the titular mechanic cheats on mana, i think that your initial read is right
Breaker of Wills also counts your lands tbf
I dont think that will be enough to make it constructed payable, but its thid thing in limited is prob gaining like 10+ life
This might be a beast in time counter decks, mainly cheating into play such as jhoira, alaundo the seer, and the tenth doctor. When the last counter is removed you cast the speel
Corrupted Shapeshifter is a powercrept version of Primal Clay (which also has a few other homages already)
the corrupted shapeshifter seems to me to be a callback to Primal Plasm which it seems to be just a powercrept version of
Domain/Zoo, Tron, and Affinity are absolutely eating up with Kozilek's Unsealing
Kozilek's Unsealing has a lot of issues with it with regards to how it plays in Modern affinity. first, it doesn't have an ETB trigger, which is something that a 3 mana noncreature permanent almost requires in Modern if it's not a Planeswalker. next, it's a nonartifact enchantment that produces nonartifact creature tokens, so it doesn't contribute at all to your artifact count. also, since it has Devoid, it isn't a blue card despite costing blue mana, so you can't pitch it to Force of Negation or Subtlety
Simulacrum Synthesizer has literally none of these issues and still didn't do that much for affinity, so i think there's no chance Kozilek's Unsealing is the missing piece to that puzzle
i'm saddened by how far had to scroll to find some sanity in these comments
I think Kozilek's Unsealing will be much stronger in Affinity than Beans was in most decks. Beans was easier to get value from, but the value that Kunsealing will give to Affinity will be insane. I'll probably run 2 in my deck and trim Thoughtcast.
lol Jund Server saw this some time ago, Kozilek's Unsealing Eldrazi have a 7 elemental Eldrazi that can be cast for 2U, meaning they can draw 5 off for just 3 mana
Also, Affinity has a flexible new card letting them cast a 7 for 3R. still Affinity, but don't worry, Jund also has some new tools. Have fun with Eldrazi as we are chilling
Oh also Commander Horizon 3 has been fun lol
Make a video on Six
I don't know if they're broken but I like the concept of Eldrazi s being colorless retrain of other spells
devourer of destiny is almost the same as sphix of foresight which saw some play in fires of invention decks because it could scry it easier and it was a 4drop to cast with fires.
I was immediately thinking of that Eldrazi Dragon that gives all your shit emerge when I saw Kozilek's Unseeling.
Legacy afinity will be hot. Thought monitor drawing 5 and making a karnstruct if supported properly
Breaker of creation looks like a good Persist target actually.
Corrupted shapeshifter is a call back to Primal Clay from Antiquities.
Breaker of creation is of interest as a commander in pauper EDH. It's definitely more interesting than Walker of the wastes.
This work as well with delve creature cards like murktide and gurmag angler
I have a blue tron deck. I am so excited for this little uncommon.
Corruped Shapeshifter is so awesome, LOVE the versatile
This seems amazing in affinity and I am very excited as a filthy artifact enjoyer
Murktide Regent costs 7, and delve pays for (not reduces) the cost. That's what I thought of with Kozilek's Unsealing.
This is literally 1984, he took down the wumpus abberation exclusive review.
Im thinking in tron, or affinity as they can play 7 drops easily. Like mry enforcer, thought monitor. or in tron like they play ulamog then draw 3. Either way lots of decks could play it and be good. Seems good but we'll see how broken it is. if they can draw 6 cards on a turn it may be too good.
The wumpus can't trigger off of coming out from another wumpus; it's a cast trigger, not an etb
Devourer of Destiny shouldn't have been shown with Serum Powder when that first ability is more along the lines of Sphinx of Foresight.
Aaaand we are back
Unsealing could have been a 4 or 5 manavalue mythic and still see plenty of play in many formats, I'm happy we're getting bangers at uncommon, but at the same time, it's worrying to think the powercreep has reached this level
what was broken and most broken thing in MTG was original rules where you had to ante up card. so you really could take some alpha black lotus from him do to fact you channel fireball him before he had chance to play his hand in turn one.
I am so excited for MH2!
Remember that lands are colorless for Breaker of Creation. So in the fairest way to cast it where you have 8 lands in play, you're gaining 8 life off of it. It's kind of like a Pelakka Wurm in that way.
Yooooooi Kozilek Unsealing is gonna go brrrrrrr in my simic stompy commander deck, absurdly bonkers
Corrupted shapeshifter is a callback to primal clay I believe
Canada: “thought monitor and unsealing could be a war crime you say ? You don’t say…”
Eldrazi Summer is here baby! 😎☀
“Dombo’s not a word.” - Vince 2024 😂
regarding of Breaker of Creation, it said "gain 1 life for each colorless permanent" does it also count for land permanents?
It's back!
I know a lot of people are dreading this but I love eldrazi so much. I’m so hype.
Personally, I like Eldrazi. I didn't like Eldrazi winter back in the day, that really sucked. Also annihilator should just not be a mechanic on anything anymore, the fact that they brought it back sucks.
@@zztzgzaannihilator on the big expensive ones isn't that bad.
Scion of Draco and murktide regent are a couple of real wankers with this. We could also see other delve creatures such as gurmag angler and tomb stalker see some relevance with this enchantment. Now. Imagine if it didn't have devoid on it. Now. Imagine it alongside subtlety and force of negation. I was disappointed and relieved when I noticed it was actually colorless!
I hope to open this in my one bundle I can afford. 😅 Seems pretty bonkers for an uncommon.
Oooh can’t wait to play these cards
Is good, a wonderful addition to the Kozillection.
1:47 - not going to work that way, new Wumpus is "on cast" old was ETB.
The shapeshifter reminds me of primal clay.
As an eldrazi main. I fuxking mildly pissed when I see people miss that they're CAST TRIGGERS. Ain't nobody either cheating in or getting cheating out of that trigger. Except against stifle.
I am more interested in learning the lore of Kozilek's Unsealing, like what does that mean? Like i am sure we were all under the impression that only Emrakul was the only Eldrazi Titan left that did not die
I feel like Kozilek's Unsealing really just wants to make Spawn tokens with Solitude, Fury, and Subtlety.
Primal Clay or Pirmal Plasma are the closest to that shapeshifter.
5:26 - and, just, all your lands :P Unless for some reason you're playing Dryad Arbor... then most of your lands.
Kozilek's Unsealing is also strictly better than and a possible callback to Emrakul's Influence
devourer of destiny big upgrade for the slime against humanity deck 😊
Without watching the video: yes please break affinity
Up the beanstalk is back baby
Hey Vince, do you know if this card triggers with the brothers war artifact creatures that can be casted for cheap to get a mini version of the original artifact?
I'm actually concerned about Kozilek's Unsealings impact on a possible new Domain deck? It ramps on Pitch Elementals and draws on Draco. T3 and onwards, your Dracos just have draw 3 on cast which is crazy, and you can pay for them with a Pitch Elemental, which is also somehow, terribly, card advantage positive.
New wumpus is on cast so no chaining...
If Synthesizer didn't just come out, I would agree it would be in affinity. Too many 3 drops and synthesizer is just better.
Kozileks unsealing with the new nulldrifter will be nice, 3 mana draw 5 on cast
Evoked ofcourse, no one wants to actually pay their mana values
I don't need to watch the video to answer the title and miniature: yes it is and yes they did.
the more this set is revealed the more I want to finish my Animar colourless creatures deck 😂
Corrupted Shapeshifter is most similar to Primal Clay
Say Wumpus more, I didn't get enough the first time around.
Doesn't Breaker of Creation trigger work for lands, since lands are colorless? So you're probably gaining a crap ton of life of the thing.
Theres a lot of gas for my degenerate Belbe commander deck in this set.
Just? Did you try playing mirroden block back in the day?
Kozelek unsealing and Animar with ancestral statue goes infinite right?
Can't wait to play this with Dargo
So hyped for MHII
