I hope the people rescuing are protecting themselves against sepsis and pneumonia. When we went through flash floods in Australia many came down with these types of diseases especially when dealing with trapped and diseased people in cars and homes for days. Please take care.
The exact same thing happened on May this year to the south of Brazil. People did not receive warnings on time, huge amounts of rain in a short period of time, everything flooded and was dragged by the water. Cars, houses, stores, including animals and people. It is sad to see it happening again now in Spain.
I’ve been flooded in nth qld Australia and I can tell you the damage it causes is horrific. Water and mud wrecks everything. I feel for these poor people having to go through this.
Our biggest problem in Canada is when rain coincides with melting snow and ice. The ice breaks loose and then flows down a large river to a narrow point or a bridge etc and blocks the natural gravitational flow of water forcing the water outwards especially on flat plains. But we never had the destruction seen in this video.
This is nightmare. When we received the emergency alert from 112 alert, we were still at work most of us. I was at work, and immediately took the car to return home. But most of the towns and villages were flooded. Weather forecast were advertising this phenomenon since October 26th. Regional authorities ignored the expert's advice and the danger of it. And, of course, we have bills to pay, families to maintain, and most were forced to go to work. We want political responsibilities for all these deaths (and more and more to come). Another thing we can't understand: in the majority of places, the help from the government arrived THREE DAYS LATER!!!!! Imagine the situation with no water, no food, no electricity, and dead bodies on the mod, under the cars and garages. This mustn't happened in a European country like mine. We have the resources to save life's. What we know as Valencian people is that when we need help, we stay strong together as a strong nation, the poole save the people!!!We are completely devastated. My condolences to all the family with death victims. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Your leader is a climate change denier, working for the carbon fuels companies, not you. He cut budgets on weather warning, climate disaster studies (which would have shown this possibility) and disaster mitigation (flood controls, drainage, etc). And of course, being a Right Wing, he cut emergency, food, housing and other services. Like the southern Right Wing run US states, little help is to be expected.
I'm sorry about what happened but you actually *CAN* not go to work for one day!!! First of all, is legal when a warning is on and secondly, Are you gonna lose your job for not showing up one single day!???, if the answer is yes, then you better look for a better place to work. And I hope people learn from this and stop putting incompetents from far right parties in power.
Yes, I heard that the schools demanded the students to come because there was no official order that children shall stay at home. This was horrendous!! I also pray for all who lost everything and family members. ❤ ❤❤
In my case I didn't even receive the alert on my phone, I only knew about it from my friends a little bit after 8 pm. Luckily, we are all students and we heeded the advice of the University of Valencia beforehand. But unfortunately, I had friends who had (uncancelled ) evening classes and got stuck on their way back home. A friend of mine who lives in La Torre was stuck in place and surrounded by flooding water 2 meters high from like 9 pm until 4 in the morning when he was able to slowly make his way home.

There was a red alert thought the day. Many people went about their day regardless. The local representativo you mention is a Climate change denialist. They got 400l per square meter. The record being 150 or so. Nobody could have predicted a tsunami
It wasn't the Prime Minister who told people it would dwindle by 6pm, it was the President of the Valencian regional government. He minimised the risk, didn't take the warnings seriously. There had been notice given days in advance by the Spanish meteorological office of a severe weather event.
If you look at some of the images, there is very skilled work done to keep the water away from doing harm, which has been working. I am impressed at how well some of this was made! I do send condolences to those who had loved ones die! The pictures are just horrible power! I live in the USA, at one time, there were floods so quickly that huge canyons were formed which left beautiful rock cliffs now! The woman had some great ideas of how the community can learn what to do that could help save lives. I also feel like I want to massage the man's eyebrows that look painfully furled above his nose!
Indeed, a very good point regarding the end of ice age floods. It does seem to me that either we should build extremely fortified buildings as our homes near coastal areas or move inland. Granted, other extreme weather phenomena like tornadoes, giant hail and others are on the rise as well, so probably fortified buildings and other civil engineering solutions are our best bet. Considering how much work and $ all of that will cost, I can only conclude that there will soon be a less demand for owning a property and renting will start to look like a better deal.
There's some non government websites where people have been posting their missing persons, of course it's not an accurate number, just an estimate, just don't believe what media says, their data mostly comes from state agencies, if you see some images and the extension of de damages, the numbers provided seem really low, and seeing the low response of the government...
My wife and I were there three weeks ago on holiday. Can't beleive the devastation and loss of life that has happened to such a beautiful city and it's people.
We are with you all in spirit, these devastating floods are happening many places in the world and it is not natural at all 😢 Heaven is watching and keeping score ❤Peace and comfort to all of you
No it's not natural!! Ur right about that!! Global leftie elites cloud speeding deliberately making the natural storms even worste so they can then "blame it on thier climate change AGENDA!!!!! And push thier insain narrative!!! Dont believe a word of any global government now,
People need to know that the myth of Sisyphus describes also climate events As a European I would not want to pay for the reconstruction. Scientists have warned about these phenomena and the risks and yet more and more people are settling in the Valencia region. And when I hear the Prime Minister say: “we will rebuild Valencia as it was before” it is utter stupidity. He is not even capable of analyzing that his policy is a cause of these misfortunes and does not understand that when nature says stop concrete and construction near rivers then we must listen to it.
The warnings were sounded many years ago in 1957 and from what I read, Valencia has always been very prone to flooding. The silliest thing to do would be to rebuild demolished buildings (p.s. possibly .... perhaps residents were SAFE in their apartments?) - they rerouted the river away from the city centre, did they just rebuild housing again around the banks of the new river? is that where they put the motorway?? The university inspired universally chanted mantra 'climate-change' isn't the half of it - rebuilding in-situ would be like building houses on Mount Vesuvius or straddling the San Andreas fault only more likely to be destroyed.
Coincidentally and tragically, most of the flooded areas are bordering the channel where the Turia River was redirected back in the 1960s. You can see it on Google Maps. Prior to 1957, the Turia ran through the middle of the city.
@@h5mind373 Yes, I know, I did look at the maps - it seems obvious in HINDSIGHT that running the motorways either side of the new river was a mistake. But also a little further south another stream broke its banks (sadly in a town called Torrent). It is too early to tell but if the majority of victims are found to have been in cars, then traffic management is something that can be sorted out (a bit) and there shan't be any need to relocate whole suburbs.
💔💔 We're still digging out from a horrific storm in parts of the USA; but Spain? The eather's going a bit crazy. The warnings didn't help us much, either. The storm and flood came on so fast it trapped people in houses and cars. Best of luck, Valencia. I feel you.
Why is there so much talk here about climate change, but not a word about the fact that this weather phenomenon of "Gota Fria" (Dana) is completely normal in this area of Spain? The amount of rain alone is significantly higher this time than in previous years.
@@Soldrakenn You don't make predictions you are just wise after the fact. First you say there's going to be an ice age, then you say there's going to be warming, then you say well actually it's just 'extreme' weather. So any time there's any kind of weather at all, blame it on 'climate change' and ignore all the extreme weather in history before the last 50 years
Mazon's regional government is entirely to blame for the lack of warning. They had the warning from AEMET in the early morning. In the early afternoon he came out and said it will be dying down by 18:00, and they didn't give the warning to the people until past 20:00, as the floodwaters were literally coming down.
If Spain doesn't have the resources, send other Europeans. Surely we can send troops to deliver food and water rations. The Dutch can fix your water issues. If we don't help each other, what's the point of being the EU?
Hi, I live in Valencia, maybe I can help. It started in the morning. Our warning came at 8pm on our phones. We went to work as usual. I was only sent home because the companies started seeing videos of other areas where the storm was hitting on social media. There are way more ordinary citizens helping than authorities. They need food (that doesn’t need to be cooked) and water, blankets… thank you for thinking of Valencia ❤
From the first minute our army has been waiting for orders to mobilize and help, but the government did not call them. In fact, after 3 days they sent the ridiculous amount of 500. They have to wait for an order from the government, but our government is negligent. The only help in the days after the tragedy was volunteers, neighbors.
@ I saw hundreds of (young) people walking to València to help. Unbelievable that the government did not instruct several thousands soldiers to assist, it’s the worst natural disaster for decades. I live in France but if I lived in Spain I would certainly offer my help & home. I wish you courage & strength 🙏
You cannot. What happens is the result of at least 8 generations of people toying with nature in the stupiest way, never caring about the consequences, and all over the planet. The climate is deregulated and it will get worse and last hundreds or thousands years.
@@laurensa.1803 You probably don't know what 2000 m/s looks like in reality. For this flow you would need a profile 300 metres wide and 7 metres deep. That's a bigger structure than the riverbed in LA that appears in the movies.
PEOPLE !!! OPEN YOUR "WIDE SHUT EYES" !!! DO YOU REALLY NOT SEE THAT THERE IS THE SAME SCREENPRIPT AND DIRECTION EVERYWHERE IN MAKING THESE FLOODS !!!!!?????
So they are admitting that they were informed that a major storm was coming to their area. They disregarded it. Now they’re saying there was a communication issue. What more were they expecting? A brownie? Perhaps you should take heed to the first warning. Same thing happens here in America every single year. They warn people that a storm is coming and they should evacuate or take proper precautions and the people think they know better than the experts.
It has not much to do with climate change. There is a long, long history of floods alone the centuries in many areas in Spain. For instance in 1954 this area had such a terrible flood that General Franco made to build up a “presa” and “pantanos” not only in this area but all over Spain to prevent disasters. And also using afterwards those stored waters for producing electricity, horticulture lands...however, for not clear practical reasons all those presas and pántanos were gradually dismantle with dramatic consequences. Another cause for provoking disaster flood might have to do for stopping to do the cleaning in riversides. Another cause was to built houses in areas well notoriously known by their floods.
Ok. Climate change. Right. But can we still agree that owning weather modification tech and a redevelopment plan or public service should be punishable with premeditated murder?
you know i often see 'HIGH TECH Army Vehicles" that are ALL WEATHER, ALL TERRAIN, and can cross Water, Mud and all sorts of things to KILL others. but come to RESCUE, I see rescuers say "ROAD is Blocked" , Bridge is Down.. so help is limited. so if you have the budget for all those all terrain tanks and military vehicles and advanced drones to drop bombs? why not use them for rescue, minus the Cannon and armor, and those attack drones instead of dropping bombs and missiles why not drop supplies? The Military has COMBAT ENGINEERING tanks that can clear obstacles and build bridges for tanks to cross but they cant be deployed for Valencia??? building a Makeshift Bridge and repair the roads? Drop Portable GENERATORS for Powers..?
I have been watching the weather forecast quite regularly and I could not realize this coming.usually yellow and orange alerts. but this was a red alert🔺
Those are full of fear and seeking for easy explanation that relieves their inner doubt they still could be in fact responsible in one way or another because warnings are out there since decades. It is painful to admit one could be responsible in which way ever for such big things happening right now and probably much more bigger in the future.

Please talk to Spanish experts who are better informed about the local situation.
They are managing to clear the main roads, and my family in the capital said that the supermarkets are finally getting supplies, but there are still many small areas blocked in the outskirts. Unfortunately the number of victims will raise even more. The capital was saved because they deviated the river, but a lot of areas West and South got up to 3m high floods. The Balearic island were also not getting anything as they depend mostly of the port of Valencia. Bcn is covering a lot of transport of supplies now, but the main issue are the small isolated areas. They need to invest and protect the surrounding areas.

This is not because people have been living in floodplains for a long time, and in many cases they still build things on them. It's not because rivers and watercourses are degraded. It's not because we put concrete and destroy green areas. Remember little ones, it's climate change. This is how we play and this is how you should sing.

all the people that was on the roads, did not get any worming and that is terrible, the president did not react the first day, he was in a meeting talking about the money invested in the public tv and press, he said something the day after, how is that ??? and he ask more money because that is going to fix the climate changes in the "cold drops" that the country could have in the future, how is that ???
Is it true that the spanish govermnent rejected help by France which offered thousands of soldiers to deal with search for those people who now have, as was said, "a very slim chance to survive"?
I noticed the forehead crinkles too! 😃😂
Because she is flooding him with the most vacuous template talk! My eyes met on the root of my nose while listening to her.
Excellent coverage. Thank you!
Really an excellent content. Watching from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰
1900 people are still missing
😧 you counted?
There's some non government websites where people have been posting their missing persons, of course it's not an accurate number, just an estimate, just don't believe what media says, their data mostly comes from state agencies, if you see some images and the extension of de damages, the numbers provided seem really low, and seeing the low response of the government...
@@jovenserdenola1679 emergency services 112 has reported this number. Really, no need for sarcasm here. We are devastated. Thank you.
Dont believe a word of any global government now,
People need to know that the myth of Sisyphus describes also climate events
As a European I would not want to pay for the reconstruction.
God bless Our Neighbors to the north 🇲🇦🇪🇸
God bless you too
The warnings were sounded many years ago in 1957 and from what I read, Valencia has always been very prone to flooding.
Wish I could help too
Thank you great Samaritan Angelic Helpers
Praying
No need to help, there are already way more humans than the planet can host.
We had floods here in Canada also but not on this scale. I guess one loss of life and one loss of a house is to much.
Stay safe!!!
Sad scenes of havoc
Very sad situation.
the hagel(ice balls) falling with the rain was like bullets, it was scary to see images
💔💔 We're still digging out from a horrific storm in parts of the USA; but Spain? The eather's going a bit crazy. The warnings didn't help us much, either. The storm and flood came on so fast it trapped people in houses and cars. Best of luck, Valencia. I feel you.
Nature never forgives the mistakes made by foolish people.
But a well-known weather phenomenon was to blame here ... the Spanish call it "cold drop" ... nobody can predict how severe these storms will be.
Can't imagine living through this horror snd yet so many more will have to as things get worse 💔
Why is there so much talk here about climate change, but not a word about the fact that this weather phenomenon of "Gota Fria" (Dana) is completely normal in this area of Spain? The amount of rain alone is significantly higher this time than in previous years.
Because climate change predicts the "significantly higher" amount of rain like this. We can expect more extreme events like this.
@@Soldrakenn You don't make predictions you are just wise after the fact. First you say there's going to be an ice age, then you say there's going to be warming, then you say well actually it's just 'extreme' weather. So any time there's any kind of weather at all, blame it on 'climate change' and ignore all the extreme weather in history before the last 50 years
It is a vile sickness expressed by the TV. Something went wrong, it is your fault, we don't listen to the viewer.
3:35 People should follow instructions of the authorities that just did not warn them in time, that sounds cynical…
Great government .. I understand why we pay so much taxes
Incredible images 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
What TIME? I have watched many news briefs but I can't find one saying WHAT TIME did it start? Thanks DW
Why can’t they air drop food & water?
From the first minute our army has been waiting for orders to mobilize and help, but the government did not call them. In fact, after 3 days they sent the ridiculous amount of 500. They have to wait for an order from the government, but our government is negligent. The only help in the days after the tragedy was volunteers, neighbors.
@ I saw hundreds of (young) people walking to València to help. Unbelievable that the government did not instruct several thousands soldiers to assist, it’s the worst natural disaster for decades. I live in France but if I lived in Spain I would certainly offer my help & home. I wish you courage & strength 🙏
How can you build water systems of very small villages to deal with 2000 m3/s ???
Don't live next to a river..
Start with stopping deforestation and make waterways wider...
Situations of Asia is echoing in Spain now
I think this needs to be investigated and resolved on EU level. Why such short warning?
What is the impact of space weather on our weather? The sun is having a lot of solar flares. , nobody talks about this
astrologists are talking about this.
And it definitely has not caused this flood.
I know all over we had pictures of the solar flares.
1900+ still missing here.
Now we witness the results of human greed.
😂😂😂
you know i often see 'HIGH TECH Army Vehicles" that are ALL WEATHER, ALL TERRAIN, and can cross Water, Mud and all sorts of things to KILL others.
but come to RESCUE, I see rescuers say "ROAD is Blocked" , Bridge is Down.. so help is limited.
so if you have the budget for all those all terrain tanks and military vehicles and advanced drones to drop bombs?
why not use them for rescue, minus the Cannon and armor, and those attack drones instead of dropping bombs and missiles why not drop supplies?
The Military has COMBAT ENGINEERING tanks that can clear obstacles and build bridges for tanks to cross but they cant be deployed for Valencia???
building a Makeshift Bridge and repair the roads?
Drop Portable GENERATORS for Powers..?
Signs of Times..
I have been watching the weather forecast quite regularly and I could not realize this coming.usually yellow and orange alerts. but this was a red alert🔺
Underground* storage facilities for excessive rain water.
So many crazy commenters in here.
Those are full of fear and seeking for easy explanation that relieves their inner doubt they still could be in fact responsible in one way or another because warnings are out there since decades. It is painful to admit one could be responsible in which way ever for such big things happening right now and probably much more bigger in the future.
Stop weather modification now! 😢
Im from Asia and our place is always flooded so we are always on alert when it rains. You can only prepare to a certain extent to be honest. Prayers are very much needed. Pray that it does not rain that much and if it does, pray for everyone's safety.
La monarquai debería vender sus outfits de diseñador, sus coronas y joyas para ayudar, no tendrían porque pedir voluntariado. Que tristeza su gobierno😢 queridos hermanos españoles mi corazón está entristecido.
The best comment. El mejor comentario.
Te recuerdo que los cabrones del gobierno tienen 300 coches oficiales, un jet privado, 2 helicópteros y salarios de 130.000€ anuales para que? Si no hacen nada a tiempo...
damages are the new damage

1:43 "Expert says that climate change is to blame" Lol,
It's the human that is to blame not the climate change.
Human greed that caused abrupt cc. You bet
It is so sad to see all the damage from Floods and other natural catastrophe. It's getting more and more. We must act now to slow down the climate change. Otherwise it will getting more. I pray for the victims in Spain and in other regions.
Stop weather modification now 😢
It has more to do with the sun.

Is a natural disaster typical of the climate of this region.
Well the warning was already issued in Spain and Portugal, I think no one expected it to be so sudden, so fast and so devastating 😢
I guess you are right in a way.we are not really aware of red alert..!!!
Its hard to put this all into perspective. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Valencia. DW it is so inappropriate and disrespectful to have commentators from the UK provide generalised comments on this local disaster. Please talk to Spanish experts who are better informed about the local situation.
The regional president shared a video in twitter at 13:00h informing the rain would be gone by 18:00... this is unacceptable
I love Spain. Sending my love from Germany ❤
Stop saying 200 like all the other channels. Thats old the number is way higher.
May God bless you all may family peoples
What of reports that there's nearly 2000 people still missing?
America and Europe is busy supporting wars in Ukraine and Israel. Business houses are busy in making money at any cost. Noone is bothered about climate change. All the politicians do party on the name climate change going for g7, brics etc. Suffers are the common people. I believe all the commoners should come together against wars and the politicians not taking it seriously as only poor and common people are worst affected
well, I tried to give a long explanation on what is actually going on over here but YT keeps deleting it, no matter how I change the text or even if I separate it into different messages. Can be summed up as governemtn knew, could have warned and prevented, death toll will be way higer.
that wouldnt surprise me at all
Yep, ur not wrong!! They are controlling the weather by cloud sceeding and making these storms worste than thier original rain fall!! And then will blame it on climate change to push thier insain agenda,,, and your right about YT!! ALWAYS DELETS MY COMMENTS ABOUT THE CORUPT GOVERNMENTS..
Right bk at ya, I've just written two reply to u that haven't been uploaded!!!
And mentioned the exact same lite ppl as you did!!
See that 1 went up!!!!
I'm guessing thier doing a shadow ban on any1 tlking about it
Where is the help from the Spanish government ?????
Dude it was written as 200 thousands just a minute ago, how come you did such mistake! But you just changed it, I almost lost my mind.
This is not because people have been living in floodplains for a long time, and in many cases they still build things on them. It's not because rivers and watercourses are degraded. It's not because we put concrete and destroy green areas. Remember little ones, it's climate change. This is how we play and this is how you should sing.
sadly true, as we see here.
Mmmm
Absolutely
Unfortunately cars are not sealed and if under water or under liquid mud then they are dead

The norm now.
Thank you for featuring the impact of climate change as opposed to some outlets seemingly trying not to mention it.
this is absolutelly heartbreaking.they will need all the help you can give. please organize logistics and support, maybe even love this christmas
❤Valencia. 🙏🏻for the victims. 😢
all the people that was on the roads, did not get any worming and that is terrible, the president did not react the first day, he was in a meeting talking about the money invested in the public tv and press, he said something the day after, how is that ??? and he ask more money because that is going to fix the climate changes in the "cold drops" that the country could have in the future, how is that ???
How Spain can say "NO" 🏫
Lord have mercy !
Is it true that the spanish govermnent rejected help by France which offered thousands of soldiers to deal with search for those people who now have, as was said, "a very slim chance to survive"? Maybe if you didn't reject professionals who would speed up the search and had bigger reach, lives could be saved? Could anyone explain logic behind this act?
'Climate resilience', a new concept to work with from now on... 🌊
"Never happened in mine or my parents lifetime." So, I guess I have to be the one to say this, but living memory is a BS way to judge the probability of something.
Well, Carl Sagan testified in front of the US congress on climate change in 1985. People believe what they want to believe, but physics > belief.
Our Government just said they'll send more military help "if needed". IF NEEDED.
❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
Where´s Cappucci ?! 🙃
I do not want warnings and I do not want floodings -the both staff are dangerous and unknown
