I have decided that in my next relationship I need to test a couple things in the first 3-6 months. First, see how he shows up when I’m sick/injured. Also do a two week vacation together. In my last relationship I got injured while we were on vacation and I decided based on how he showed up he was not the one I wanted to go the distance with.

Just having let go a kind man because I am looking for peace + to build up a healthy long term committed relationship...
he is in the process of therapy+ in chaos in his life...and not able to tell me how he feels about me...

Excellent commentary Jonathon! So much difference between how he feels being with you (s/a you make him look good) as opposed to how he feels about YOU (good, bad, indifferent). Listen very carefully to the words that he uses.

Jonathan. Great advice. A friend met the type of guy you speak of - committed. Unfortunately after 3 months, she broke 💔 up with him. Reason? She was bored with him. OMG.

    Question:
Hello. I started dating a kind, self aware, well established man. And I am the one who has a lot of red flags: I grew up in the pathological family, had very dysfunctional marriage ( my ex husband is not present in our kids life), I am immigrant without American education (I have master degree from my country) and career . I am on the way to getting educated, changing jobs and raising my kids. In many ways we are incompatible. How I can make sure that this relationship has chance to succeed?

To ensure a successful relationship with your new guy, it would be beneficial for you to get counseling to heal your inner wounds so you can learn to love yourself and love others. Since you stated you’re already aware that you have issues from being raised in a dysfunctional family, it’s important to get healing so you don’t find yourself in another in an unhealthy relationship. And when the differences and conflict happens, you can invite him to go to counseling with you and learn how to work out your differences in a healthy, loving manner manner. It’s great you acknowledge your own issues and want to do the work to create.a successful relationship. Best wishes with your new guy. Hugs 🤗

That was a great video..Thanks. I am learning to share my true feelings. And even though the person took certain things I prefer, as to be loved, as a criricism, he relized, that it was more about learning about me and what makes me happy after I explained this to him. So speaking truth pays off.. And I have taken the trouble to do it in a non-threatening way..even though it can have an initial threatened reaction.

@@HealthspanFansJonathon is describing how carefully you need to listen to their words; how you make me feel vs how I feel about you. Is it self gratification or is it genuine caring about you.

🤔 “GOING THROUGH THE STAGES OF GRIEF” AS YOU SAID IS VERY IMPORTANT. IT IS ALSO NECESSARY TO MOVE FORWARD. IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE EACH STAGE AS WE FEEL AND HEAL FROM IT. ❤️‍🩹
