Over recent years, there’s been a notable shift in asset allocation - active equity and passive funds have gained, while active debt and liquid funds have seen a dip in market share.
In March 2024, active equity funds increased their market share by 40 basis points month-over-month, reaching 57.8%. This represents a YoY increase of 620 basis points.
Let’s look at the top highlights of mutual funds’ equity investments:-
- SIP flows reached an all-time high of Rs 19,271 crore, highlighting a strong retail demand for equity funds.
- Individual investors have allocated 84% of their mutual fund assets to equity schemes and only 11% to active debt funds.
- Beyond the top 30 urban areas have demonstrated a greater preference for equity assets, with 84% of mutual fund assets invested in equities, compared to only 52% in the Top 30 cities.
