Thanks. The KGhia very is my priority to have on the road this spring. Have had it stored away inside long enough. Missing a few more big engines also. Several of my best finds of rust free VW have had the engines removed.
Yes, That's why I like them too! Same with and of the old vintage cars and trucks before 1980 basically. Before they started adding computers and sensors and all that.
It has a Scat block and heads. Got them used in Germany. The weak link in a type 1 motor is the case. If you stay in the 100hp range. It will run forever. Once yay start going to and over the 150 mark you lower the longevity considerably. Dual port hands are a must. One 2 throat weber carb with a mild cam would put a big grin on your face. Most important hp fan and shroud and oil cooler external with remote filter.
CT moog definitely I will brother those are the real project hope u can restore 100% wish I could get one of those but they’re expensive mean while I keep watching your videos keep it up bro 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Before you slpit the case. Make up some keepers to hold the lifters in position if you plan on reusing them. I didnt know about that before hand and had to order new lifters. Nice work matt
Just a hint: you should keep the parts sorted. E.g. used parts of the valve train should not be mixed. When I saw you take the push rods out I got the impression that you didn't pay attention to their order. I might be wrong ...
Eu e meu amigo Já desmontamos um em piores condições e até sem o suporte é sofrimento puro mas é até divertido . Pena que fizemos isso por falta de grana , o motor não durou muito mais quebrou um galho danado!

Good Video. Don't intend to hijack. I have a 1970 Karmann Ghia that is missing the engine. Prefer to have a 1600 cc engine rebuilt for 100-140 HP. Where would a person begin?? I'm not a looking for a street race car, but am interested in more power for this ghia Vert. Thanks.
Was that engine running before you tore it down ? I have worked many of those engines and have never seen one that bad. It appears to also have water in the oil. Thus the milky looking oil.

One thing that has always kept my interest in VW is the simplicity.
Yes, That's why I like them too! Same with and of the old vintage cars and trucks before 1980 basically. Before they started adding computers and sensors and all that.
My newest non air cooled VW is a polo 1,4 TDI. 240,000 Kms and still gets 21.4 kilometers per liter. My bug is a 2275 dual port.
WOW! 2275 is some serious power!

Hey Michael, There are a few engine builders to choose from. What part of the country are you located?
I'm going to go up there this weekend. I'll let you know if they have more available.
Hi michael
Have you considered an old porche engine..? There are plenty around and not hard to rebuild..cheers!
I find it odd that they're playing traditional Oriental music for a German product.
HAHA! I was just having some fun! Thank you! Stay tuned! More to come! =)
The music relaxing, which is needed doing a job like this!

On this one I might bump up the HP just a bit! I'm going to start on ths in a few weeks after I get the 62 panel van up running/driving.
