Yup. As a child growing up on those beaches, there were no fences, etc. Just a wild beach and wild penguins. The sanctuary has been created to protect their environment.
They weren't there always though… the story is they only started surviving there from the early 1980's - pitched up little by little - must have called their friends .. to let them know of the most beautiful beach in Cape Town… and the rest is history :)
Glad You Guys had a great time in South Africa. My buddy from New York loved staying in Cape Town and came down 3 times already. We live in a beautiful city I agree!
@@Truthseeker-iz3djnot really, u must remember With SA, Provinces are unique too. Durban is also on its level beautiful too, Moumalanga also too beautiful with its Nature in its way coz it’s not City.
Bunny chow is from where I am from DURBAN. Its a traditional meal made famous by the Indian migrants who were brought to work in the suger cane plantations by the British in the early 1800's. India as well as SA was a colony of the british. The Malay people are tradionaly from CT so the currys etc are different than from Durban.
Oh my goodness, I must set a reminder. Even though I was born in South Africa, I've never gone to Cape Town, thus I know this video will be interesting to me. ❤💜💚
Joe-cq It is really sad to see that after nearly 30 years of "democracy", the majority black population is still confined to the "townships" the Afrikaners built to keep them, and most of them are not even trying to get out. It is like Rosa Park enjoying riding in the back of the bus. In the meantime, the nice cities the white folks built for themselves are decaying at rapid rate ever since the whites left them to build their own bunker neighborhoods. They are the only ones that can afford to fly in or out of the country. If you do not believe me, just go to any airport in SA.
So the difference between a koeksister and a koe’sister is the following. A koeksister is a braided dough that is deep fried and then layer in a heavy sweet(lemon) syrup. The kie’sister is more like a doughnut that is also deep fried and then covered with coconut and a little sugar. It’s more a Malay Indian dessert. The koeksister is more a Dutch dessert.
It's great to see that you guys are enjoying our beautiful country, been following you since when you were here in Joburg. Enjoy the rest of your tour/vacation.
Watched your video just now and I was happy to hear the overview of Cape Town from your experience. As a Capetonian for nearly 56 years (since birth) it was uplifting to see you guys (& your baby) enjoying your experience in Cape Town. I've subscribed to your channel and eager to see how your individual detail videos of Cape Town went and hope that you got to visit the Northern suburbs too. God bless you guys.
Thanks for this. Cape Town is definitely one of the most beautiful cities in the world with the mountain and sea vistas pretty much everywhere you look. Next time try and go hiking when your baba is a bit bigger and also some water sports like canoeing, snorkelling, swimming, etc. I feel very lucky to live here 🤗
Hi, guys! It's a pleasure. I'm planning right now visiting Cape Town . I love traveling around the world and I always wanted to visit Africa. Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm from Argentina.
I think that was a Gatsby they had but they called it something different. The thing they ate that was really big. Hope you's come back soon. Vannie Plain
What a superb review on our city! I was born and bred here and still count it an absolute privilege to live here...to this day!! And I am in my 60's💕 I love watching your videos
So glad you enjoyed your time in Cape Town, it's refreshing to see CPT from different eyes. The spiced doughnut covered in coconut that you had is called a Koesister, it's a Cape Malay pastry. Koeksister with two K's is a plaited deep fried pastry dunked in cold syrup, that's from Dutch origin.
What you guys ate were "koesisters" which is a very Capetonian pastry - not to be confused with "koeksisters" which is a braided deep-fried dough with syrup. Most South Africans outside of Cape Town won't even be aware of koesisters & the difference between that and the much more well known koeksister. Love your videos. I'm originally from Cape Town and it's refreshing to hear your take.
I had such a laugh figuring out where you guys got lost - You guys took a foreign Uber driver to Kraaifontein - that poor driver must have been very nervous. I had a good chuckle. Thank you for visiting my adopted home and making these wonderful videos. There is good here and there is bad of course but you have a lovely way of reminding us how special our home is. Thank you
Welcome to the Mother City. I grew up in the Northern suburbs which isn't quite a popular tourist destination. Pity! The view from the Tygerberg Nature Reserve is stunning because you see the city from a completely different perspective looking south, west, north and also with the vast sprawl of the Cape Flats in full view.
Shalom Fam! I'm glad you went to CAPE TOWN...1 verse comes to mind when I see Cape Town. "The benevolent man leaves an inheritance that endures to his children's children, BUT THE WEALTH OF THE WICKED is treasured up for the RIGHTEOUS. THE MOST HIGH knows what he's doing....and it won't be long now. If you know then you KNOW. Praise THE MOST HIGH!
We enjoyed many of the places and sights you guys tried in our 10 day trip to Cape Town in January. Easily the most beautiful city and people on earth- hope we return soon!
Your videos are great! I love the enthusiastic and appreciative way you talk about your experiences and impressions of the places you have visited in our country. Yes, Cape Town is a gem. The Western Cape with its beauty is breathtaking with its vineyards, views and historic buildings etc. I hope you will visit SA again in the future. There is so much more to explore. Don't miss my hometown, Port Elizabeth, which has been renamed Gquebera ( not a popular name with the people living here. We were not consulted by the government so that we could choose a new name ourselves) The Metropol of our city has been called Nelson Mandela Bay for years, so the name ought to have been Mandela Bay. Anyway, our city is very interesting, and we have beautiful, clean beaches. Best of luck to you, and thank you for your channel. 😊😊😊
Just discovered your channel and have to say I love your energy and enthusiasm . I am originally from Cape Town but have been living as a US citizen in California the past 23yrs. Most black Americans love Jozi but I have noticed that there is a good number of those that loves Cape Town as well. It seems like all this is just natural and maybe it relates with the State's or cities they grew up at in the state. Very interesting
From what I've seen/heard, it seems like they love Cape Town's beauty, but prefer staying in Johannesburg because: - Joburgers are fast moving go-getters. We Capetonians like to chill. It seems many of these African Americans are here to hustle and make money. Joburg is the place to be for that mindset. - Property is apparently much more expensive in Cape Town. - They feel more comfortable with the demographics in Joburg and Durban. I've often heard Cape Town described as "cliquey" and more racist compared to Joburg. I've lived in Cape Town all my life, so maybe I'm blind to it, but that's what I've heard. So ja, it seems like they treat Cape Town more as a holiday destination.
@@StAlfonzo87 If you are on a tourist visa, you can't work; therefore, I'm not sure what you meant by "African Americans are here to hustle and make money." Additionally, even if one could work, there would be little desire for Americans to earn rands, when one could easily earn dollars in the U.S.. Black Americans who are in SA on a tourist visa are vacationing.
@@Blissful-es1kk Making money was a poor choice of words. Perhaps "conduct business" would've been better. I was thinking of the likes of Mansa Mayne (definitely did a lot of hustling), Asad El Malik, Changing The Narrative, Julian Albino, etc. They're not necessarily here to make money, but they all seemed to settle in Joburg for living permanently or conducting their business.

I am from Cape Town South Africa living in Trinidad and Tobago, and married to a Caribbean queen, I miss Cape Town very much, I miss the food, the people in the Suburbs (the way of living, the culture), the people in my street where I live. There is NO PLACE like home! You guys make me homesick lol. I must say this, even with load-shedding (periods without electricity) I will still choose South Africa over any country period.
Next time you should hire a car and explore the Western Cape, the Garden route is nice, spend a day at Knysna/Plettenberg bay and Mossel bay, visit Tsitsikamma National park. The West coast is also nice and it’s not far from Cape Town, Langebaan is approximately 120km from Cape Town and it is next to West coast National park. There’s a lagoon with turquoise coloured water, very beautiful.

The jackass or the African penguin 🐧 is definitely native to the South Western part of Africa (Namibia and SA) so it is home there.
It definitely was
Bunny Chow - definitely Durban, agreed!
Full of white people
Sphatlo - Pretoria
I was thinking wtf is a kota lmao
Those were wild penguins, that is their natural habitat, no-one “brought” them anywhere 😂😂
So glad you guys had fun, we are all very proud of CT 🤗❤️
That’s good to know
Cape Town is called the Mother city for good reason ❣️
It don't get better than this!
People, cuisine....all real good flavor! 😇
Shalom
You seem to have a very wrong understanding of why it's called the Mother City, the term actually has colonial connotations.
@@sibonisovilakazi3413 your perception and mine....I see the bright side of things....glass half full.

..is it because of the laid back reaction?
Glad You Guys had a great time in South Africa. My buddy from New York loved staying in Cape Town and came down 3 times already. We live in a beautiful city I agree!
I love your videos. Cape Town really is 1 of the most beautiful places on earth. So happy you enjoyed it so much ❤️
Thank you so much.

Glad yall enjoyed Capetown💜fun fact: you can see the MTN from everywhere it literally towers over the city..do see DBN just as beautiful✨
DBN would be a huge disappointment after going to Cape Town.
@@Truthseeker-iz3djnot really, u must remember With SA, Provinces are unique too. Durban is also on its level beautiful too, Moumalanga also too beautiful with its Nature in its way coz it’s not City.
@@thembi9645 Agree with you here, its the unique beauty of each province🙌✨
@Truthseeker i disagree. Dbn is beautiful in its own way. KZN as a whole.
@@Mbalings I think the midlands is better than Durban area itself. Is some nice costal spots but Cape Town as a city just has it all.
Good to know
Oh my goodness, I must set a reminder.
You definitely have to go to Cape Town. Thanks for watching.
You guys have one of the coolest, most real channels I've ever seen.
You guys must go to George and other places on the garden route like Mossel Bay, Knysna, Wilderness etc. It's so beautiful.
Thanks for the recommendations.
Thank you! 😃
What a beautiful video about Cape Town. Thank you. When I travel to the US and talk about Cape Town, I just get blank stares as if I am talking crazy.

Great video guys!! Im glad yall enjoyed. 🎉 Summertime is where it's at here. The weather is getting quite cold.
It sure is but we still definitely enjoy that. We would love to come back in the summertime though. Thanks for watching.
you guys are so positive, I'm at work at my standing-desk and just happy for you both and your little family. All the best.
We really appreciate that and welcome the the family!
Thanks for this. Cape Town is definitely one of the most beautiful cities in the world with the mountain and sea vistas pretty much everywhere you look. Next time try and go hiking when your baba is a bit bigger and also some water sports like canoeing, snorkelling, swimming, etc. I feel very lucky to live here 🤗
Sounds good, Thanks for watching

I think that was a Gatsby they had but they called it something different. The thing they ate that was really big. Hope you's come back soon. Vannie Plain
What a superb review on our city! I was born and bred here and still count it an absolute privilege to live here...to this day!! And I am in my 60's💕 I love watching your videos
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for watching.
Thank you for visiting Cape Town and for your extremely positive review. Yes I'm Cape Townian
You taught me something
@@Stevenewmansa even me 😂
I've lived in Cape Town for a few decades, and only recently became aware of the existence of koesisters as opposed to koeksisters.
We call it doughnuts in the northern cape when I came to cape town I heard they call it koesisters
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for watching.
Wow what a refreshing Video. ❤Happy you enjoyed our beautiful City
We did. Thanks for watching.

If you are here in September you must go to Hermanus (2 hours from Cape Town) and see the whales.

Thank you for making this video and doing your part to change some of the misconceptions.
We really appreciate you, thanks for watching!
I'm from PE / GQ and I've decided to roll with the name change and learnt to pronounce it . And 😆 spell Gqeberha.
Just discovered your channel and have to say I love your energy and enthusiasm . I am originally from Cape Town but have been living as a US citizen in California the past 23yrs. I am going home to the "Mother City" (Cape Town) for 3 weeks later this month and am so excited to see how everything has changed. Sadly many South Africans become jaded about SA (just like we do about the US) and yet, when one has been away from it for as long as I have, there is excitement about going back. Glad you got to enjoy Koeksisters and visit the BOO KAAP. lol . Look forward to following you guys further on your African continent adventure.

It is so wonderful to hear such positive things from American tourists about our country!! You should come back in summer, travel around the Western-cape and do a Garden route trip. Get a bodyboard and beach gear and just have a beach roadtrip from Cape Town all the way up to Plettenberg bay/Tsitsikamma. If you ever need recommendations for certain towns to stay over in? Take care

Most black Americans love Jozi but I have noticed that there is a good number of those that loves Cape Town as well. It seems like all this is just natural and maybe it relates with the State's or cities they grew up at in the state. Very interesting
Thanks for watching
From what I've seen/heard, it seems like they love Cape Town's beauty, but prefer staying in Johannesburg because:
- Joburgers are fast moving go-getters.
@@StAlfonzo87 You honestly think Cape Town is more beautiful than Johannesburg? Beautiful in nature? Maybe with nature
They're not necessarily here to make money, but they all seemed to settle in Joburg for living permanently or conducting their business.
wow guys! I'm a Captonian, living in London for the last 18 months and havent been as homesick as I am after watching your review! Its a fantastic city with fanstastic people! So glad you enjoyed it
