Jermaine Jackson was never given his due largely due to the fact that his younger brother, Michael was the feature of the Jackson 5ive. Some people thought Jermaine should have been highlighted more during the groups run. However, once Michael's teenage appeal drove the audience and narrative Jermaine was saddled with dutifully falling in line and soldiering on behind him. His main job became playing bass and providing the main backing vocals on the Jackson 5ive's best records. He scored a hit with DADDY'S HOME from his first solo album in '72 with his warm vocal and charming smile.
When their contract with Motown was not renewed, Jermaine stayed behind partly because he was loyal to Berry Gordy and partly because he had married Gordy's daughter, Hazel. His debut solo album, MY NAME IS JERMAINE spawned a few singles on the pop and disco charts.
LOOK PAST MY LIFE & LET'S BE YOUNG TONIGHT are the two I remember best. But he also produced and recorded with Whitney Houston and his brother, Michael. In the 8o's, he recorded (WHY DO YOU) DO WHAT YOU DO as well as PERFECT for the John Travolta movie of the same name following the Victory tour in 1984, the Jacksons last stand as a group, and had quiet a year for himself. And then along came Janet.
Jermaine was quite talented and often overshadowed by not one but two of his siblings. But he genuinely deserves his turn in the spotlight and credit for his career, patience and many achievements when other people would have been petty and jealous.

This song has a pretty cool official video (his woman really did him wrong lol) co-starring one of our original supermodels the legendary Iman. My other favorites of his are “Daddy’s Home”(1972) wore out the vinyl 45 and “Let’s Get Serious”(1980) 12” vinyl which was a great HS senior jam back then to dance “the hustle” to…😂❤🔥

And just think, Jermaine was the original lead singer of The Jackson Five before Michael joined the group....Sadly they did not promote Jermaine`s solo songs as much as they should have...It was all about Michael at the time...Jermaine had some great songs even with the Jackson Five...A great song by him while with his brothers is ' I Let Love Pass Me By '...You both will love it.
That's 1984-85. He is the smoothest out of the 5. I was expecting more but it was a one time hit. There was another one with an asian girl little more up beat "when the rain begins to fall" I think it was.
