I saw her playing live, opening for John Mayer in Paris just last Sunday, for the first time in my life! During her first song I thought, damn, John you got your work cut out for you. Haha. This girl is just simply amazing. I can't stop listening to her. My mind goes inter galactic, takes me faaaaar away. So beautiful.
Madison is among the most talented, interesting, and compelling artists ever to pick up a guitar. Sometimes I wonder what she'd sound like if she played "guitar solos" in her music, and then I think, "But why? So she can sound more like everyone else and present herself for comparison?" NOBODY sounds like Madison, I hang on every new song/album release, and I can't wait to hear her influence in the new generation of songwriters down the road.
Its insane that I can still go out and expose my fellow musician friends or other music appreciators to Madison, and they haven't yet heard of her. From her slick, cool a$$ guitar work, to her use of altered meter, to her hauntingly beautiful vocals, she has is going on in many ways. Very underrated band around her too!
She's unbelievable. My daughter and I saw her in 2022 opening in Mt. Joy in Iowa. Then saw her this year in Minneapolis and got to meet her afterward. Her current live show and band is totally unbelievable. We were against the gate, right in front, about 10 feet from Madison and it was surreal. A few hundred people in a small club and I think only a handful really knew any of her songs. I've gotten to know her drummer a little, I met him briefly after the Iowa show and kept in touch on Instagram and he gave us free tickets to the Minneapolis show. I've since learned some of the people he's recorded with and he's big time, as are the other musicians in her band. It's the best new music I've come across in at least a decade. I first heard of her on Chris Thile's "Live From Here" show and was instantly hooked and have been ever since.
I saw her and John Mayer in Glasgow 2024. I’ve been listening to Madison for 15 months or so having discovered her Beatles cover of In my Life, which I love as much as her own material. I was however surprised that John M did not invite her to play with him given they were both solo? I can’t imagine someone like Dave Grohl not doing so. What a wasted opportunity.

So good to hear Madison perform "Subtitles". I bought that song pretty much when it came out. It was a lot to digest at first listen, but it wasn't long before the song hit me. It's an incredible piece of music. Very mature and accomplished musician despite her young age. A true artist. Well done, Madison. Stay true to your art.
Some of my faves (for 3+ yrs now) are still these solo voice and guitar or piano vids.. (or the live 3 or 4 song performances ie: Paste Studios from the road, or Tiny Desk.., and so many others). Everybody in Madi's band (and team) are such good people.., and GREAT musicians too.. Love you guys.. Thanks for doing this and posting it. So appreciated 🎶😌🎶❣️👍
Madison Cunningham’s music is indeed unique and compelling; forward looking and familiar at the same time. Her guitar playing and tone stands out. And that voice!!! She deserves popularity in the realm of Taylor Swift as far as I’m concerned. Maybe she’s too talented for the general public to grasp. Musicians of her caliber are few and far between these days. But I hope she keeps writing and performing new music for those of us who ‘get it’!
for guitar folks out there...im curious what that sub-octave sounding effect is that she is using on her acoustic songs (the 2nd and 3rd songs)....amazing artists (goes without saying)
I would never said that if you put a minihumbucker on an old acoustic guitar and put it through an effects pedals, it would sound this gorgeous. Oh, I forgot, maybe it is not in a guitar right... :) Gorgeous playing Madison, as always!
Yes! Ever since Paist Studio Recording with Daniel and Beth. Or perhaps it was "Riverman" on "Live From Here". I'm just another moth drawn to the flame...
Madison - stellar performance. Your sincerity overflows. I want to hear you more. And thank you for doing live video recording. such sweet vocals and playing; horrible microphone pickup. It doesn't have to be that way. this is for your tech guys: This would have been an opportunity to get natural vocals that are now lost from this otherwise stellar performance. Madison, please try to do these solo bits without typical PA techniques (swallowing the mic, monitors) that are only needed for loud band situations. You don't need monitors at all, there is so much that can be done by just getting the voice and guitar balanced in the recording space. Being outside one doesn't have to deal with close reflections, so there should be fewer phase and isolation issues. Good audio makes good video, and I'd love to see the singer without the mic so much in the way. I know it can be done. sincerely, sqb

I also saw her opening for John, but in Stockholm! I've been a fan ever since, she is truly amazing and I love her whole Revealer album :)
Hands-down my favorite artist currently working. I hope she'll tour with her great band once she's done with Mayer.
Desperate for her to come to London with her own show. She’s incredible.
also desperate for this
Cool, down to earth, and the most talented person wherever she is. She’s the real deal.

Sometimes, usually, less is more.

She is the Queen.
Madison is a musical genius
A National treasure
Madison reminds me of.....
no one. She's an original through and through.
It doesn't get more real than Madison.❤️
she reminds me of joni mitchell
Check out Esperanza Spalding's solo album
Her harmony is mad an beautiful in the same time!

Just had the chance to see her with Rufus Wainwright. Amazing performance ❤
Didn't know about that.
I hope someone recorded the session for us.
Extraordinary progressions. Always catching me off balance. Love it.

She’s such a gem! Can’t wait to see where she goes!
Red or whatever, you totally ROCK!
Stuck in my head so deep now. Awesome
Reasons why she's my favorite artist ever
So much talent I love her. Poor thing answering questions directly into the sun.
SO GOOD.

Amazing. She deserves world conquering success!

She often plays in “C Standard” tuning, that is, standard tuning but tuned down two steps.
Astoundingly original music from a true muso. I even hear echos of Kurt Weil / Brecht in the first song. Just constantly surprising and inspiring.

Voice of an angel
A totally original, rubber bridged goddess!
Splendid
Perfect!
Madison Cunningham ❤❤
Extraordinary...👍👍👍👍
You are great. And scene

Loved it:)
John should be opening for her
seriously
100% I didn’t understand why she was opening for him at all…
Favorite artist ever, love of my life, superstar 🤍
Wow.
what's the guitar tunning
is that a polyphonic octaver i hear on the last song/ so cool inventive
It’s a digitech whammy dt! I think it’s set to a 4th. Just saw her this past month and I had my eyes on her pedalboard for some of it!
👸
Ok!
i am not in love, i am not in love, i am not in love.... “falls in love.
Just a very little few can perform live that way.
She reminds me of Tori Amos but with a guitar. Lovely. Just lovely.

first song is called subtitles not "im not the prophet"
Amazing video, but the embedded chapter titles are all wrong.
The first song's called ' Subtitles '.
Socking it to auto-tune and pro tools…
POW!!!
This just sucks
