It froze the doors shut from frozen ice. Took 4 big strong men to open the door ! Must have been -20c that night ! But man, oh man, it was worth it when we sat down to eat 😂 The farm has been sold now, and they built Ottawa Airport there ! 😢 But that old stove had some stories behind it ❤ Mike.

Hi Shawn and Cali, I most love these building videos! What a fabulous kitchen it will be; no surprise though. Such a talented man. The stove is awesome! Nice. I am a 70 year old man, but I remember that we use to rent a cabin for a week at a fishing resort in Colorado almost every year. I was shocked to see my mother cooking on a stove very similar to yours. She even baked a cake in the oven. I found out later that every one in my family grew up with that kind of stove. It's amazing what one generation to another can change everything. My wife probably has never even seen those stoves in use. All that I can say is that my moms breakfasts that she cooked at 9,500' elevation tasted wonderful. Loved the show and the memories. Take care. Vaughn
Shawn: I can relate to the weight of that stove. I have moved a few of them when I was younger. They are beautiful cooking stoves. Look real nice in any kitchen. Take care and stay safe.

I love those old stoves. So much beauty and character. Just imagine how many delicious meals were cooked on her and how many more to come. Can't wait for Shawn to do a little cooking. The outdoor kitchen is looking so nice, Shawn.
My great-grandmother had a wood stove in her kitchen just like yours or very similar. I think she used coal to cook with. Even though years later she had a modern electric stove that sat across from the wood stove, she never used the electric. She stored her pots and pans in it. They used the wood stove for heating the house, too. Thanks for sharing.
Hi. ❤ It just keeps getting better and better. Enjoy your trip. Thanks for sharing. I enjoy it very much. I have been watching your channel for some time. Good videos and great building. 🙏☝️👍👍
Hello Shawn. Big fan of your channel. My husband and I are living a similar lifestyle in Alaska. Just wanted to give you a trick to install metal roofing. We call it the Chris Razink method, since it was a colleague of ours from the State Parks who showed us this, we have been used it ever since on several houses and outbuildings. You screw a 2 by at the end of your roof rafters. On this, you screw another 2 by, but sticking up 2 inches higher than your base. You then created a ledge which you can use not only to install a ladder where the feet would rest on that ledge and you can stand on, but your metal roofing sheet as well, creating a perfect line up at the bottom and extending 1.5 inches passed the rafters. Will take pic tomorrow, worth a 1000 words. Keep up the good work and enjoy life.
My grandparents had a vintage Monarch stove on their farm. It was wood burning and would heat the whole house, a one bedroom farm house built in the 1920's in northern Wisconsin. An addition was built as their family grew. So many great memories there. Thank you Shawn for taking us back in time to a wonderful era.
Just want to say along with all the other things I love about your channel - I love the way you film. You show a door and then you take us through it. I guess that is called transition but it is quality and greatly appreciated.

I've always took a fancy too that look. As always God bless and take care from your long-time California subscriber. You started April 2013 and I'm about 1 or 2 years behind that watching.
As a lay person, I'm not going to comment on your installation skills, but I truly love the way you brought this old beast to shine
That stove is gorgeous. The warming oven, the hot water section - fantastic and it's going to feed you lots of wonderful meals.
Shawn, I've been watching you for years, you've always captivated me beyond words. Words in my humble opinion just doesn't really capture all that you are and all that you've done. Simply put, you are the 21st century's Richard "Dick" Proenneke! Plain and Simple! I salute you Sir!
She cleaned up real good !
Beautiful stove; not easy to install! Great video. Thank you.
I always look forward to seeing the progress being made. Keep up the good work!
Ive been waiting to watch this outdoor kitchen get built ...... looking good , love the stove !!!!!!
That stove is awesome, and that outdoor kitchen is my favorite room so far. I would spend most of my time out there if the weather permitted.
Thats exactly what’s happening already. Even in the cold months, I’ll be in this space a lot.
Hi Shawn thanks for taking us youtubers on a great out door adventure anyway I have always enjoyed the sound of rain on a tin roof .
What a beautiful outdoor kitchen, Shawn! I love your work. The oven is truly stunning.

Hi. ❤ It just keeps getting better and better. Enjoy your trip. Thanks for sharing. I enjoy it very much. I have been watching your channel for some time. Good videos and great building. 🙏☝️👍👍
Beautiful stove!! Your place is just a beautiful place you’ve done another amazing job
That stove is so pretty. It reminds me of my grandma's stove except not so fancy and used kerosene as fuel. Your home is starting to look so....homey!
Just what I needed. Great job. Loved the old build but this is truly special. Can't wait for bedroom start. Enjoy my good man...
Excellent efforts. Love the stove, those are top notch items! Enjoy the rest of the summer!
That stove looks so great there. It’s like where it should’ve always been. 😊
Just want to say along with all the other things I love about your channel - I love the way you film. You show a door and then you take us through it. I guess that is called transition but it is quality and greatly appreciated.
