Very intEresting sauce. ... Will try if I can get some cheap rhubarb.... and if I can stop myself from using it all in strawberry rhubarb custard pies.
Linda, Do I have to add brown sugar? I have pulp from juicing grapes that is very sweet. I thought I could use that instead of raisins. Trying not to add a lot of sugar.
I just made this and it is crazy delicious!! We have rhubarb coming out our ears and I'm so excited about this! Thank you! As always, you really are the best!
Wow! This was fantastic, I put some up today and love it. Thank you for your encouraging canning videos. I finally opened (and used) my pressure canner last week that had been in its box for two years. So much fun ahead. ❤️
I grew up eating rhubarb but, my Mom would do what she called stewing it. She would cut it up, add some sugar and cook it down. We ate it as a side dish. You have inspired me to grow it in my garden! WOW! You are almost to 70,000 subscribers!! Congratulations! !
I have got my jars in my canner at the moment (using it as a water bath canner)...I have added some chipotle peppers as well as the paprika (liquid smoke not readily available here, so thought it may take it up a notch). Great idea for using the Rhubarb as we have lots of it and get fed up with crumble and pies. We give a lot away but still have more than enough. Thanks for this great recipe.
I just finished your recipe of bbq sauce. Only used 1 tsp of liquid smoke and had no ginger on hand so didn't have it in the recipe. Boy oh Boy is it ever good. I got 6 pints and it is now in the water bath canner. I just know that one of those jars is going to get opened this evening for my chicken dinner. Thanks for all your really yummy recipes.
How long was the hot water bath? P.S. - 3 quarts is NOT a lot of rhubarb (the one good thing I miss about Michigan now that I live in South Carolina, where it won't grow).
I had some rhubarb in the freezer from last year that needed used up. This recipe sounded delicious, so I gave it a try. Turned out great. The only thing is that mine ended up tasting like apple butter.
Ive been doing the freezer jam for a few years now and since ive started watching your channel for a few weeks im now inspired to start water bath canning. I bought a canner a few days ago and was wondering is you can recommend something I can try for a first timer. Thanks. love your channel.
I have Canadian red rhubarb but I'm not sure it's even coming back this year. I usually see tips by March but now mid May I've seen nothing. Do you know what variety you are growing? Mine is very small and slender stalks. Not enough still for eating and I love it for baking.
Wow. This is one I'm going to have to try. At my rental unit, I have an old bed of rhubarb that is a full 8 feet long of 42 year old plants. Unfortunately, my renters did not take care of the yard or garden area and let both sumac and blackberry bushes spread into them. What a clean up that is going to be. I am going to somehow have to earradicate the sumac and the blackberry without killing the rhubarb. I might just have to dig everything up and start from scratch which I would hate to do. If any of you have any suggestions, please let me know. For many years, the harvest of my rhubarb went down to the local restaurant and made many a happy customer with rhubarb pies and crumbles. !!!! Unfortunately, it is closed now. Those blackberries spread from a bed that I thought I hads ago as they never did have one berry on them.!!!! I won't miss them one bit !!!!
Hi Linda, a great use for rhubarb...I must admit a rather unfair prejudice towards that particular veg, but this redeems it a bit for me! ;) Just wondering at what point you are sure enough to switch from pressure canner to water bath. Is there some sort of reliable ph test that can be purchased?? Keep up the great videos, you are putting out LOADS of really useable info in a friendly and approachable way, and that takes talent!!!
This reminds me alot like the Victorian BBQ sauce my mother use to make 😋
This is the Victorian BBQ sauce recipe. Not with liquid smoke though in the original

Never rub another mans Rhubarb. Awesome Linda! Rock On!
I've never seen green rhubarb before. I love this idea. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Just fabulous Linda! I loved the natural light in this video - and of course, bbq sauce made from rhubarb? AMAZING!!
Great idea !! I just canned my first jars of apricot jam yesterday and used the water bath.
Rhubarb in BBQ sauce is quite different! Almost looked like stew in the beginning. Looks really yummy!
Just saw rhubarb at the farmers market and wondered what I could make. Thanks for sharing.. :)
I made this today and it's the bomb!!!
Beautiful!!

Have you ever tried it with craisins.?
I am going to try this
What a lovely video - Rhubarb isn't just for dessert !! I think we may plan to plant some when the time comes.
How long was the hot water bath? P.S. - 3 quarts is NOT a lot of rhubarb (the one good thing I miss about Michigan now that I live in South Carolina, where it won't grow).
mmm looks good. I bet it would be good with lamb. We are raising 3 of them so thinking ahead

Looks delish- I've been wanting to get rhubarb for a year or so- when do you plant it and how many times do you harvest it- thanks for all you do-

Can you grow rhubarb in containers?
Melissa Gingerich you can, but it wants lots of water and will need a large pot.
