4:39 - watching you put a 37mm shell through that truck's windshield and seeing the two guys in the cab just start walking away reminds me of a Russian dashcam video I saw awhile ago wherein a truck driver had his cab ripped open by another vehicle and he just walks out of the debris with no worries.

Great video and thanks! Another Cliff Clavin trivia: The Ju-87 and BF109 were the only planes that flew combat missions starting with the Spanish Civil War until the very last day of WW2. And before you jump me - the Spitfire was not committed to combat missions until the evacuation at Dunkirk.
@@echodelta2172 Technically, the BF109 is the only fighter that flew combat missions on the first day of WW2 (3 Sept, 39 over Poland) until the last day (7 May, 1945).
If you like the 37s on the stuka for killing planes, use the IL-2 with 23mm HE. It is the perfect plane to kill Stukas with. The stukas with only MGs cant hurt you, but you can hurt them.
Yeah you can, the stukas and unsuspecting bf109s light up like a Christmas tree just knocked down by a cat 😹. My two favorite planes in il2 is the il2 and the la5. The 23mm HE are amazing. I like the la5, because you can outpace bf109s your faster than they are at low altitudes. Don't try to go high with them. But you can out run them, or chase them down if they aren't paying attention. Perfect ambush plane. I really wanna see him bring out the la5 and see what he can do with it.
2:13 Imagine the IL-2 pilot panicking to evade this german JU-87 madman, frantically looking around to see where that devil went and then suddenly hearing the rising roar of Growling Trumpets somewhere at his six... Or how about the train driver at 6:50 : "Aaargh, there he is! Blow up the train and flee!"
Not just in game stalinium armor. There are pics of IL2s that returned to base with insane amout of arcraft missing (i seem to remember one with a section of the wing being just the main spar, let me see if i can find it again)
@@pegzounet Yeah. I'm fairly sure the IL-2 used up so much Stalinium that Stalin himself had to give them more because they weren't making them fast enough. lol Not only did they have armor but a lot of stuff was just able to come off before the thing actually stopped working.
I remember in Microsoft Combat Simulator 3 you could fly a Ju-88 with a single 37mm cannon. (It may of been with the FirePower add-on) and it made air-to-ground so much more fun. The ammo was very limited but you could one-shot most ground targets.
Third time I flew out the G series, I got jumped by a yak1 on my way out, he overshot and I nailed a single shot into his right wing as he pulled away, was the longest shot I ever landed in IL2. Saw that spar snap like a chicken wing. He pulled up and away to avoid my guns, then leveled out to gain speed back when I was “far enough” away. Wasn’t far enough for a 37mm HE.
Mate, ever since you started with piston aircraft, your flying has been gettin' more and more artistic. What's next? Destroyin' the Death Star with Sophit Camel? :D But seriously - could you try La-5 fighter for me? I'm pretty hopeless pilot myself, but with this machine, even I can have fun and score some kills :) It can pull awesome turns, no unexpected flatspins, 20 mm cannons... You in it would be one man airforce :D Cheers!
My dad says a mate of his at work Saw a Stuka fly down a main road in Manchester England city centre. He could see the pilot it was that low. There was a young girl stood in a shop door way. He watched as the machine gun cut the girl clean in half. Life's a lottery at birth.
As a pilot, I used to do oil pipeline survey with a C-182. It is not a Stuka of course, but this video brings back some memories of good old times :D It was the best job ever.
To use the cannon bird for air to air, have to aim a little above them. The arc is wierd. Would love to see some la5 action from you, I enjoy the crap out of it.
i dropped a 1800kg bomb on a airfield in multiplayer while a bunch of planes were taxiing. It was glorious. Alas, the ol Stuka got too many holes in it and the engine quit shortly after so I didn't make it home. good times.
If you think that's fun wait till you see what the 40mm cannons on the hurricane can do, excellent bomber hunting potential. They didn't call it the flying tin opener for nothing.
The real 37mm cannons only held 12 rounds in each gun. 12 per pod or 24 rounds for each flight. That is assuming that there wasn't a jam or failure to feed.
@@lebronyeimsv3974 it's not false, 12 rounds per gun = 24 rounds in total. The 37mm antitank guns could kill any allied tank. Did a exceptional job during the battle of kursk.
There aren’t a lot notes but Rudel had a lot of influence creating the Kanonvogel concept as he was able to penetrate the tank roofs and engine compartments using just the 20mm . The Kraut 20mm was the best of the war especially how they were able to put almost twice the amount of explosive in their 20mm shells the 37 mm improved on that with a muzzle velocity unmatched ! Shooting almost straight down as dive on a victim adds greatly to the lethality and accuracy of this weapon. You only have 24 shots a mission but Rudel made them count taking out 4 tanks on one mission more than once . He would also be able to do 3 and 4 missions a day. When he switched over to the FW 190 he was still very effective with the 20mm cannon and the smaller 100KG bombs hitting tanks were devastating . He truly was a born tank killer !

Dropping a bomb in a divebomber, unlike in video games, took some practice. Even in a 90° dive angle, the bomb does not fall directly where the crosshair is aimed. The bomb deflector on the lower fuselage pushes the bomb in a balistic curve away from the aircraft at an angle of 10°, as otherwise the bomb would get into the propeller - an thats not good :) The pilots had often a table on his thigh, fastened with a rubber band, with the usual dropping data, on which he had to quickly calculate the lead in his head based on speed and dive angle. The protractor was then used to determine the exact dive angle in relation to the horizon.. As an example: Divebrakes on, siren free - 420 km / h, 80 ° dive angle = ahm....ahm.......2.5 rings over the target ......Hoooothooooot...... Hold it!....Monday - Tuesday - Wednesday - Bomb away........and the little yellow button on the stick full back, until it snaps under the clip....autorecovery is on - wheeeeeee - and darkness..........:) Apparently the horses just ran away with me .....^^
