On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. @@EvoraGT430 He joined USN and ended up with Night Fighter - 101 (Corsairs) on the Enterprise and then (for lack of a better term - conscripted) to the RAF 63 Squadron (Mosquito).
The De Havilland Mosquito is my absolute favorite WW2 fighter/bomber. The graphics are exceptionally well done and exquisitely nice. Thank you. Bravo!

So I cast it to the TV.
GS in a Mossie is one of my favourite things so deserves something bigger than my phone or tablet.
How feasible would differential thrust be with the mosquito's two engines? I know that WW2 props can be quite temperamental, but it would be interesting to see if it can be used at all.
It would cause tons of vibrations. The skill of flying a dual prop plane is tuning the harmonics of the two props to minimize this. As a pilot you are constantly needing to nurse this.
Works great on the ground for doing donuts lol.
Doubt it would work in air. Props do more pulling as opposed to jet engines doing more pushing.

P38 pilots were known to chop a throttle. But there props spun counter rotation
It works but it’s challenging due to the constant speed props. You gotta independently control the manifold pressure and RPM… on a jet you just have to split the throttles lol

BF-110 VS Mosquito merge-dogfight might be interesting or maybe a Mosquito Night Fighter Mission ... they were said to be quite good for that sort of thing ... Nigel seems a steady hand, good to have on-board ... though he doesn't say much :)
The 110 is a pig and would lose every time against a Mosquito.
Im imagining a Monty Python bit where the pilot is startled every time he turns and sees the navigator sitting there.

Bombing trains was usually done along the railway line from ahead of the locomotive - it was better to drop short than long as the train would be derailed if the tracks were destroyed ahead of it.

This is cool I just watched the movie mosquito squadron the other day. Decent movie for the era
I remember listening to an interview with one of the pilots of these and he recalled a rather unfortunate night training excercise where they fired the 20mm cannons in the dark and proceeded to blind both the pilot and navagator for a good couple of minutes due to the flash but being as skilled as they were they managed to recover and proceeded to never do that again
Not on a Mosquito as its 20mm were on the belly under the nose

I think the mosquito is amazing for how accurate it is how much damage the 20 mm cannons do how fast accurate and controllable it is I think the mosquito was a brilliant idea for a plane built with unconventional materials it performs amazing for challenging metal aircraft that were state of the art at the time my opinion the cannons and the mosquito was state of the art too just wood but it had 0 shame for being wood. In the right hands it's a lethal fast and deadly amazing contender 👏.
In answer to your question, I've always had a great interest in the P-47. Ground attack and otherwise.

I highly recommend you check out a book called "The Mosquito Log" by Alexander McKee. Fascinating rundown of the aircraft - development (Air Ministry did NOT want it!), its construction (damn colonial timber-getters...) and use.
The deal breaker always in VR is the big hot heavy mask you have to wear the whole time

Have I missed something? Why are there so many comments about 'differential thrust'? If it's a crude reference to something I don't know about, I don't need a full explanation, I just don't understand why so many people are asking about it - even to the point of asking for a video of it over and over again.
