Step 1: Start a #10 on the left wing who doesn't want to provide width with a natural RB behind him who doesn't want to overlap so that 30% of the pitch is ineffective and the opponent can remain compact for 90 minutes 🧠
Step 2: Make sure that the only natural LB we bring is returning from being injured most of the season and isn't match fit 🤡
Step 3: Start 2 8's and a RB in the midfield, and if that isn't working, better get another 8 in there because we wouldn't want a 6 or a10 making passes through those defensive lines we've made extremely compact 🙃
Step 4: Do we need pace upfront? Nope, we keep that on the bench, and left most of that at home just in case anyone gets any bright ideas 🥴

Southgate's main problem is he has player's used to playing more intricate and complex than he is capable and he is unable to manage games well. Just because Kane is a star doesn't mean you play him in every game. Mourinho changes tactics, personnel based on the opponent. Watkins isn't Kane as a striker but he has more speed. This would make Slovenia drop deeper and provide more space to play. Kane occupies Foden and Bellingham's space in midfield. In reality, Walker, Stones and Foden would not do this in front of Pep. They would be on the bench. I also wonder if the player's list respect because of squad selection fir the tournament!?
