John, it probably won't see much running time other than for guests. The tanker is so rare and fragile I don't watn to chance it as a runner. But if you are ever in the neighborhood....
The 4607 set looks like new or mint not very good as commented. Never use anything to take the warp out of the tank car. That would ruin it and the value would drop if it was a mint set and used. Smoke should always be used or the sit unit may burn out. The minimum condition of that set would be excellent plus not anything lower and should be kept in all the original boxes as gilbert packed it. Dust free.
Sorry I understated its' condition. I don'' keep things in boxes. They are meant to be displayed. I didn't buy for investment purposes. I bought them to display. This set is only run for special guests. My train is in a very clean and almost dust free room.
yes I know but the choo choo is turned off with the smoke. I have the 1947 sit which has the detailed trailer truck. Better looking loco than than some of the later K5s until the 316 and 313 came along. Did you clean, oil and grease that train before you ran it? I do it once a year running or not. Nice train!
Very. nice. I have my set from 1952that Dad bought for me
Wow! An orange tank car. Truly a rarity and a gorgeous set. Fantastic condition. I'd love to own it. Thanks so much for sharing your treasure.
Beautiful set Tim, glad to see someone like you who will really appreciate it, own and run it.

Everything looks in really awesome condition. Thanks for sharing
$29.95 was a healthy sum of money in 1946. Gilbert made a boo-boo by using that particular plastic.
There is an on/off switch for the smoke unit.
Yes, all smoke in tender units have that
Nice set I love 312 all so, but mine are not as nice as yours I see you must bike too Keep on running AF & riding too
What now? Your selling it?
No, I just bought it and am showing it off.
