Nice presentation. I've always admired the Marx set that appears in many of your videos on the siding.

It's a real thrill to get to see all these sets together.
A few tidbits to add- the 1866, 1865, and 1885 cars are not illuminated, however the 1875, 1875W, and 1876 cars were all illuminated. I believe that 1875 cars were available for separate sale, but 1865 cars were not.
American Flyer had an HO line during the '50s, called Gilbert HO- in 1959 they also offered an HO version of the frontiersman, but it is quite difficult to locate. In this case, Gilbert opted not to create new tooling, but instead to have Mantua manufacture the set- it was decorated just like the S gauge set with the same lettering, but it did not smoke. The HO models are identical otherwise to stock Mantua generals and old-time passenger cars. Keep a sharp eye out for those FY&P markings on an HO locomotive or car!
I have a Lionel 1862 with the matching 1862T, an 1877 horse car with all the horses, and an 1866 baggage car. Unfortunately no 1865 coach. It runs very nicely, and despite the lack of magnetraction, it has no issue pulling the moderate sort of consist you'd expect a 4-4-0 to have pulled. I do wish it smoked, though! It's a fun train to have.
I believe the headlight bulb for the General is the same type used to illuminate Lionel's HO steam locomotives from 1959-1966.

Dave you forgot to mention the American flyer Washington set, I always considered it a Civil War set because it came with the canon car, A gold belt line Box car, and a red combine. It was a very handsome set and much more difficult to acquire than tbe Franklin set.

The Frontiersman set was the second set Santa left under the tree for me. My son still has it.

Beside all my other AF trains I have 3 of the Franklin locos plus 1 repaint and 10 plus cars. I had that set as a kid and wanted one for around the Christmas tree. Well, that put me in a buy some more AF to go with all my HO trains.

Marx William Crooks is hard to find in that condition.

Agree. All of these locomotives are fairly fragile.

Me: "Wait, why did American Flyer copy Lionel's cowboy shootout cattle car?"
@daveclarklumber: "Actually, I copied Lionel's cowboy shootout cattle car."
Also, I suppose you could repaint any extra Marx St. Paul and Pacific coaches as Great Northern green coaches if you wanted to, for some added variety? It be something different and would represent a different stage of the William Crooks' life, but the lithography might be hard to replicate afterwards.

Oh, never mind, I'm crazy, I missed the part where you reviewed the coaches of the American Flyer set and the engine of the first Lionel set.

I'm an AF guy, but American Flyer built their Frontiersman too big for S scale.
