Born and raised in San Diego now living in Chino,CA but now considering leaving CA all together. San Diego is beautiful, but too expensive to go back and raise a family.

I hear that a lot from people who grew up in Ca - can’t afford to move back to their own hometown - such a bummer!

I went to college in San Diego, great memories.... After college came back home, California was great but it cost way too much even back in the 90's
No place is worth that much

I get it- especially if you have e experienced a different “normal” As a So Cal native -CA costs are “normal” to me, as sad as that is! 🤗

@@LIVINGSANDIEGOCA Nah.... those prices aren't normal, $100K family income in Texas would get you a decent life....
In California, you would live in a small apartment, not to mention, Jobs in California don't pay that much more than the rest of the country.

@@thomasward00yes they do, otherwise no one would earn a living, son. I know it’s expensive, but use less emotion and more data.

@thomasward00 you get what you pay for. Can't compare McDonald's prices to Mortons. If you want the best it's going to cost you. Texas is a shithole.

I live in California for 26 years i move out California to Neveda this year 2023 because of crime home intruder and high cost of living.

I get it. How are you liking Nevada compared to Ca?

Neveda weather is different than california, less crime and low cost of living. I can buy firearm without firearm permit in Nveveda.

Nevada has become the #1 destination for people leaving LA!

A "starter" home for $800,000. Not too long ago, a "starter home" was about $150,000. Then you get your $800,000 home, if you were that successful. Most middle class families can't even afford a $400,000 home which used to be considered really top notch....not that long ago.

    • @LIVINGSANDIEGOCA

It’s true, but in most of the US you can still get a starter home for around $350k-$400k.
In Southern California homes sold for $150k back in the 90’s when I first bought my home. It’s been decades since you could buy a house for $150k in San Diego.
It’s why a lot of people are relocating YT out of here. More affordable housing

@@LIVINGSANDIEGOCA Yeah, I know that. I'm just commenting on what you said, you called an $800,000 home a "starter home" which....it really kind of is these days, sadly, and when I bought my home in 1992 that sort of money could buy you three really nice homes in the hills with pools.
Just the term "starter home" implies s meager budget and something to tide you over until you get your second, bigger, nicer final home which I guess would have to cost at least two million on up at this point...and a large part of the nation is making about $15-20 an hour.

@@bombaybeach208 I totally feel you - sound like we bought our first home around the same time. It’s pretty sad what $1m gets you in San Diego these days - in many areas a fixer upper! 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

@@LIVINGSANDIEGOCA Same here in LA. I bought in my area because it was "cheaper" and now this sort of home is about $800,000. I remember about 20 years ago looking at a fabulous old castle style home in LA Canada that was listed for that price.
I think because I lived thru that, and will always remember a time when buying a home was feasible (I found my original buying contract for my house, closing costs were $9800!!!) I cannot and will not ever accept what is happening now. I really don't know how people today can manage any of this. Just the property tax alone is going to cost you about $900 a month.
