Good evening Stuart, I'm a 78 year old pensioner.
I've just returned to oil painting after serval years off caring for my wife has since died with cancer.
I discovered you two weeks ago on you tube, and I'm captivated.
I really enjoy your videos. I watch them to the end.
I also love listening to you talk through your painting as it's so informative. Some of the things you say makes me smile as well as it cheers me up. Please keep up the good work. God bless.
Hi James, I'm sorry to hear that. Painting is a good way to take 'time out' from life.
I am 71 and started with Fuzzy Head (BR) two years ago and his mentor ol' Alex. I left them, bored with formulaic painting. I never was really enjoying things like I thought I should as I was not expressing myself and discovering what lay in the canvas. I saw another artist with this style of discovery and your channel is what I have been searching for. I can do my own discovery and also learn from a fantastic artist who gets my individuality. YOUR GLAZING BLEW ME AWAY!! I would have never discovered how to make the painting come to life. Now, I have to drag out many of my old paintings and do the same!! Now, off to discover what lays inside my cavans!!
Stuart, as soon as you put that orange in the horizon I thought "YES!" Immediate gratifying improvement, and it just got better from there! So this gave me confidence as a beginner to know that if I don't like something then I can change it, even if the canvas or board is dry...well, within reason.😏 I'm going to use your painting "Amazing Grace" as the inspiration for my first painting. I just love the colors and the mood.❤️
One of the best oil painters online. Brilliant teaching. Can’t get enough!
I just found you and OBSESSED! I’m very detailed in my work which can be tedious and mentally exhausting. I just want to be free…watching you makes me feel as though I can. Your soothing voice and easy of working is both hypnotic and exciting at the same time. Your wit, charm and narration is everything. Love, love, love watching you work. Time for me to begin oils…lately I’ve been about watercolor. Thank you so much for sharing, teaching and for being an inspiration! God bless!❤️🎨🖌
I absolutely agree with you!
I Second this entire comment 🧡👋🏼
Third that comment ! So true ! I have learned so much from Stuart !!
I'm so thrilled to have found your videos. I've tried for years to paint what I see - but usually fail - but when I paint what I imagine - people seem to like it. So I'm going to watch all you have posted and join your live courses - and I've already become a patron on Patreon. Thank you for sharing your gift.
You are so welcome! And thank you for being a patron!
I love the way you put landscapes together Stuart. So many instructional videos tell you to hold your brush one way and another. You just put paint on canvas, and manipulate. Clearly, years of practise!
You are a magnificent painter & teacher.
Thank you Stuart I always watch from beginning to the end, there are times when I will watch two or three times. It makes my day
Wow, the orange really made it pop. It's a beautiful painting!
You’re not just painting a sky, you’re painting a sky in an exiting and fun way. That’s what I love about this. I’m going to try avoiding “backdrop skies” and have fun and excitement fo a change! Thanks for making painting exiting again.
Once again very exciting. Glazing still seems difficult to me, but very inspiring anyway. You are a very gifted artist and very big hearted to share your great knowledges and tricks so kindly. This is exactly what has made you my undisputed favorite teacher and devoted fan. It just is! Of course, I still have a lot of videos to watch. I wish with all my heart that this kindness of yours will be returned to you a thousandfold. Many thanks!
Thanks so much 😊
Great teaching and very pleasant listening, thanks Stuart, greetings from Australia 🇦🇺.
I'm new to your channel as well. I've been an artist all my life, and I'm 62 years old so I pretty much tried everything. Got stuck in mosaics for about 25 years and I'm kind of bored with it. Did some collage... I've never tried oils. You got me thinking. From St. Louis, MO, home of the arch, right in the middle of the USA.
I am fascinated by your paintings. The way you present the colors, the mixtures; landscapes are a joy for the eyes and the heart. I regret that I discovered it at 77 years old, as a beginner. And the music of Tim Janis perfectly contributes to the musicality of the landscapes. Thank you very much, God blesing.
Fantastic painting video sharing,
Great job💯👍
Keep continue
Stay healthy and happy always 😊👍
So so happy you’ve returned to us 🌸 Healing vibage directed to your back, Stuart! Can sympathize, car accident wrecked my spine 8 years ago (which is why I’m so grateful to have discovered your TH-cam channel - art can be such an anodyne 🦋) another wonderful, soothing painting, I adore the orangish horizon reflected off the clouds.
Stuart - You are pure inspiration & probably much more than you'll ever know. I do oil painting conservation which is all (pretty much) science, established routine, combined with "color matching" and often tedious inpainting. I always figured that I could never even come close to painting like any of the Old Master painters....so why bother even getting started. But, you changed that mode of my thinking and now I can't wait to get started! Your unique painting style makes me believe that I can at least accomplish a painting that I wouldn't mind actually putting up on my wall.
Thank You! Stay Safe & Healthy.
The before and after glazing has transformed it in such an incredible way. You make it look so easy - genius! Thank you for such an educational video, I feel richer just having discovered your channel - thanks Stuart
Thanks so much 😊
Thank you, Mr. Stuart!
I have had an unfinished landscape painting that was left in my studio for a while. I got the courage from your video and I am thinking to paint another layer today. I like that “why not”!
I appreciated your video!
Interesting approach to color application.
I'm a comic artist and this is one of my favorite channels. Thanks Mr. Davies for the great videos!
Glad you enjoy it!
Care to share one of your comics? Been super interested in seeing how different authors go about their stories!
Fantastic color selection and Glazing technique on this sky. love it.
My favourite bit is always the sky and particularly the big brush sweep! I think I have watched all the vids now, some several times. Will go back to the beginning again as your pleasure in painting is infectious and I still have plenty to learn.
youve inspired my journey in oil painting i appreciate your videos a lot
Stuart. I was watching a video where you mentioned people not watching Part 2 or Part 3 of those videos . The problem is that if you just go into You tube and not your actual site is does not always shoe the other parts, I just realized stupid me, that if you go directly into your you can find them there. Please tell your viewers this I know they will be happy. Stuart, I am so glad you will be able to spend more time teaching us how to paint. You are the only one I have found that really makes sense. I have a challenge for you. Have you ever wondered what it would look like to paint a view under the ocean without the fish only the water , maybe under a huge wave. I think you artist mind could come up with something!!! Praying for you always, Keep safe.
That orange you put in was magic! Love your work! You are the best!
I didn't know you were in France, that's cool.
Thanks I can't wait to get started!!!!!
Stuart, your painting's are beautiful 🥰💟🙏🏻 I just love the colorization,it makes your painting's feel alive! Thank you for sharing your work with us ❗
My pleasure 😊
@@StuartDavies I'm trying to learn to paint, because I've always wanted too! Thanks again for sharing your enthusiasm and love 💓 for painting ❗🎨🖌️
Your videos are hypnotic , i find myself totally feeling the vibes of every brush stroke. Love watching your artwork come to life :)
Not much of a social media person but I do share your videos on my Facebook once in awhile and anytime I do you always get positive feedback and many shares! You have helped my “I’m gonna f*** this up” anxiety with painting entirely and I’ve realized that my perfectionist attitude in my paintings is what held me back. Thank you!
This is so helpful, I have learnt so much about tone and light from these videos - if only I could remember any of it when I do my own paintings! Thanks!
I'm only a few months into my journey as a painter, and consider myself lucky to have found this resource so early on.
My introduction was your "Illusion of Detail" video. In case you've ever wondered, your older videos are still drawing fresh eyes!
Amazing how the glazing made it come to life, I will definitely do this from now on. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
It is stunning, Stuart! I absolutely love it!
Wow! Did this glaze ever make a difference Stuart! Very enjoyable. 🌹
Thank you for the lesson. I have learned from you to be free with skies. . Beautiful painting. I know why you do what you do in a painting. It’s instinctive. That’s what makes an artist an artist. You just know
WOW, What a difference! Thank you for your tutorials. I am very impressed by your paintings. Sincerely, Annette Queensland Australia.
Glad you like them!
Ah, before fire was invented! Remember it well. The skies were dark with pterodactyls. The wheel was still way in the future. Happy days!
Those damned perodacttyles!
@@StuartDavies Quite. Why the hat was invented before the wheel. 😉
@@MarkXHolland Lol. :-)
@@MarkXHolland Oh man. Imagine if a pterodactyl pooped on your head. It would probably kill you! Hard hats must be worn!

Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent and inspiring me to take up the brushes Stuart.
Thank you! I love your artwork and your videos.
Thank you Stuart you are so right to say just forget about everything when you paint! I love your style and your way of teaching which basically is “do what you feel” and most of all your way of introducing colour techniques. Love it!
Magnificent. It is amazing how we can always fix it re fix then it become over done
Never boring...ever!!
Have searched for ages for inspiration and I found you today!

Wow , You are amazing to watch changing a painting in quite literally seconds. And you are very funny .I laughed out loud in a very public place .haaaaa Love your work .keep us all educated in art . Brill personality .
Thank you so much 😀
I'm really into painting skies and I learnt alot from your tutorial. Thank for returning the learning. From New Zealand.
Great as always - thank you Stewart!
This is making me want to paint right now. I so love this.
So inspiring. Thank you, Stuart
Beautiful and so helpful ✔️
Beautiful. I really like it
Excellent ~ Foundational & Phenomenal ~*~ Thank You
that wrapup was amazingly great and the land in the foreground at the bottom of the canvas looks like a Star Forte! Very cool.
If I can see myself in the picture, it is not boring. As you channel Turner I am happy.
Thank you for mentioning that good enough is good enough in some other video. I tend to get lost in perfectionism over a painting, but when I refocus on whether I like it or not, it suddenly becomes easy to do.
Always a pleasure to watch and listen. Always learning something. Actually put brush to canvas recently for the first time in 35 years (I may of mentioned that before) all inspired by your wonderful work. Thank you.
Fantastic again,so powerful!❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Beautiful work, Sir.
Magenta and Alizarin! Scary stuff! Beautiful when the effect you get is good and pleasing.
P.S. Am still working on my alizarin disaster. I decided nothing was going to happen if I left it under the bed!
lovely man .. very gifted
Thank you for posting your work! I have had some success with your instruction on clouds/sky and I love it. Not much success on the ground yet as it never seems to look like anything lol but I am going to keep trying!
LOL, 'the salad at the bottom' and 'Purple Conniption' I'll have to consider going back through all of videos and listen for all those Davies-isms.
Good morning Stuart. Beautiful painting,
I don’t know if you consider a valley a landscape, if so can please teach
how to paint one.😊
Beautiful!! Thanks for sharing. Best wishes!
Very nice painting
I looked at J.M.W.Turner after your mention of him, breathtaking!
Time to dig out a long forgotten, discarded painting - time to reinvigorate with a glaze. Great stuff, Stuart!
so impressive... learned a lot, so beautiful . Thanks for sharing
thanks Stuart for your videos. Watched around 20 hours in total, I think.
You always mention a lot of Americans watch and ask you something (besides europeans). Here to say that Russians watch you too ;)
Hello Russia!
Beautiful
What a change... Great as always, and very usefull
You can use the Why not everyday. Sure makes it interesting. I feel the vibes again watching you paint. With a calming voice makes it so nice and relaxing. But when i paint i loose track of time. So i was thinking to do a mini canvas oil painting and start fresh in the morning outside in nature light my pipe and get painting again. Its been a couple of years now. Shame on me LOL. Greetings from the Netherlands,, Kitty.
Wow being a self taught artist I think got lots to learn from this ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thank you and please keep making more videos

Or even July 24 :-)
Beautiful wow
I lost my son last year and had a nervous breakdown and I had to get my act together because I am raising his son and started painting about 2 weeks ago and my mind has been so much better and I love your videos because I need all the help I can get lol .
I'm so sorry to hear that. But I'm really pleased my videos are helping.
Thanks for sharing. Really helped me get started!!
Learned a lot .. thank you
