- Motorized scooters are a fun and popular way for tourists to get around while on vacation, but they can also present a serious danger. Many of the tourists appear to have no idea how to operate the vehicles, as shown in numerous videos posted online. In one video, a couple appeared to be enjoying their ride in the Dominican Republic when they suddenly collide with another driver. Dan Leveille and Brianne Fournier, of Ontario, Canada, posted the video online to warn people about scooter dangers. #InsideEdition

that crash was partialy their fault too, you cannot go to a country like that and expect them to have the same infrastructure and lifestyle as western countries, they do not have many road signs and dividers, you should have moved to the side instead of waiting for him to do it

My Husband & I spent 9 days in cozumel & we rode scooters everyday during our stay. It was so easy to drive it, I can't believe how many found it difficult to learn. Lol for those who can barely ride a bicycle probably practice first before going on the rode

I think it's a matter of practice and comfort. In India it's common to drive a bike. I had a friend who moved to the US but when he came back, was scared to drive his bike.

My grandma got a head damage when cycling without a helmet when a cat ran through the two tires. She had to use a wheelchair for the rest of her life (and I never got to see her, apparently she was very friendly)

I was in Bali and tourists were riding dangerously.
Renting scooter is more convenient for tourists. It’s a hassle-free for them to go to their planned destination. But, safety should come first. Wear helmet and just be careful. In my country, public transpo drivers would swarm tourists like a bee to a flower and they charge them 2-3x the desired fare.

I rented a scooter right as I got off a Carnival Cruise Line in Costa Rica. Besides almost getting ran over and my scooter breaking down and had to walk it back about 5blocks it was actually okay. Even natives actually tried to help getting it to run again. But my parents took a tour bus and they said whatever you do do not rent a scooter! It's the most injuries we have by Tourism!

In vietnam u can literally find scooter everywhere and there is at least a helmet law for scooter here in vietnam and also liscence is required too so driving scooter in vietnam is better than new mexico
