Mepps Spinner Fishing! (Bass Feeding Frenzy)

- The Mepps spinner is one of those fishing lures that not only has stood the test of time, it seems to get better every time you use it. Spinners in general are great multi-species fishing lures, but there's something about the mepps spinner that makes it stand out above the rest. The particular model of mepps spinner that I used in this fishing episode was the mepps aglia size two.
I took my kayak out on a local pond here in Delaware hoping to catch a few fish on this mepps spinner. It was a pond that can be pretty tough to fish at times, so I went in with reasonably low expectations. However, the mepps spinner produced one of the best overall bass bites that I have experienced so far this year. it seemed like every cast I was reeling in another bass on the aglia. If this video isn't a testament to the power of the mepps spinner, I don't know what is! If you're looking for a great springtime bass fishing bait to fish on these delaware ponds, look no further than the mepps spinner.

One of my favorite Mepps strike was a few years ago along a canal. As I was bringing it up to the surface in chocolate milk water, all I saw was the flash of my #3 coming up and a giant white ring behind it. As it came out of the water, a 4lb largemouth launched right out of the water on it and hooked himself on those trebles. Flipped him onto land successfully with his momentum. This was pre GoPro days, but would’ve made some awesome slo-mo footage.

That sounds like a heck of a catch!! If only we had GoPros on for all of our pre-TH-cam fishing years. Man would we have some awesome catches to show people!

I toyed around with one of the small ones, with the smaller hooks, after the bass weren't hitting. Caught a bunch of Sunnie's, bluegill, and two crappie. I threw it in some deeper water and a huge pickerel hit it. Made a believer out of me. Will be picking up some more for sure. I'm in PA. It was a blast
I can fish an area on a lake and throw 6 or 7 lures with 40 or 50 throws and no response. I can clip on my Mepps Anglia 4 in Fire Tiger. Wham a Pike just hammers it. I can eliminate so many baits with a Mepps Aglia.

I cringed so hard when you dropped the spinner back in the net. WWHHYYYY LOL. NICE bass, I used to catch stuff all day on the Mepps as a kid but it's been years since it worked for me. Can't explain it 🤷🏼♂️
It’s a rubber net, that way hooks and other things don’t get stuck in it lol

In Kansas, Mepps with skirts are best for ponds, Mepps without skirts are best for lakes. Why or how, I have no idea.
Ok so I’m new to fishing. Dumb question what pound line are you using?
For a light spinning combo like Im using, I use 6 pound monofilament line 👍
Mepps is my number one lure when fish are just not biting.

Both are fantastic and you really can’t go wrong with either! That being said, I give the slight edge to mepps because they produce a wider variety of sizes and colors.
Mepps makes an xd which is like panther Martin . Plus many more different styles and colors .
