    After having the Mini2 and using a 9" tablet, it is so convenient to have the RC2 screen built-in. A big tablet is nice for seeing detail but not nearly as quick and easy to setup. I'm spoiled now with the RC2.

      It's definitely convenient and can save a bit of time at take off, at the same time the RC N2 can potentially be 2-4x brighter with a modern phone, it has better battery life (even while charging your phone) and it's smaller/lighter to pack in your carry on which can be significant, not to mention a fair bit cheaper.

    • @EVOCATIMW
      @EVOCATIMW 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Achieving this range solely with the controller is unlikely in urban areas due to various obstacles like buildings, poles, and antennas. Depending on altitude and elevation, the range can vary significantly. For instance, flying at 100m altitude amidst buildings may yield a range of 500m to 1km before losing connection. To extend range, one must increase altitude, imagining an unobstructed string between controller and drone. While I've managed a range of 3.5km within a city, it required flying well above legal limits. Realistically, achieving a 20km range demands perfect conditions: clear skies, no obstacles, and ideal weather. Even with a drone boasting a 46-minute battery life like the Air 3, attempting a 20km journey is unwise. At the most efficient speed of 43.2 kph, it would take roughly 27 minutes to reach 20km, leaving insufficient battery for the return trip, especially over water."

Really doesn’t matter the height much. I up to date and all firmware. But to no avail. When I’m 400’-500’ and drop around a river, lose reception. Can’t even view any wildlife. • @DanielCrist
    @DanielCrist ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You could always do a more realistic range test without breaking any VLOS laws by just securing the drone to the roof of a taller car or truck and having someone drive it out until you lose video signal. Or if you want to do it in flight at least try a higher interference area in a more urban and less suburban environment, just to actually see where that breaking point is, as opposed to this, which just shows a pretty normal signal throughout.

      700 nits on the screen of the RC2 makes for very poor viewing on a bright day, but you can get a cheap hood to help improve this. Totally agree that the phone is a better option, albeit a little more clumsy in setting up as already mentioned. Other than that, you’d have to get the RC-Pro to get 1000 nits, but the cost of that controller is extortionate.

    Thanks a ton, my concern is slightly different and perhaps you know the answer but at the moment I use the previous generation controllers. The controller with the built in screen disables WiFi on takeoff whereas the straight controller that one uses with your phone screen maintains the WiFi connection. I generally fly in an area that requires me to agree to certain conditions on every flight. The disabling of WiFi creates complications and delays. The results were no surprise because both controllers are using the same transmission chip, the only difference is one has screen and another one doesn't. But there very likely might be a big difference between them is the run time, because the extra screen on RC2 of course consumes more power. I would like to see a comparation of the continues work time of those 2 controllers.

      The RC2 does have more buttons that you can customise to perform certain tasks however the functionality between the two controllers are identical. 👍👍 Gavin! Believe it or not I think I'm going to bite the $$$ bullet and grab a Mini 4 Pro. It seems to have matured into a fantastic full-featured pro model. This video is helpful because I plan to buy the basic kit with the RC-N2 controller. I don't need the RC2 controller as I already have a 10" Android tablet that works well with my ancient Mavic Mini. I also plan to buy the Mini 3 Plus battery kit to get the slightly stronger batteries vs the Mini 4 Plus batteries. Hopefully with the Drone-Tweaks hack, and OcuSync 4, my signal problems will be a thing of the past. BTW I sent you an email last week with a couple of questions but no reply. I was considering just upgrading to the Mini 2 SE to save money, but the Mini 4 features are just too compelling so the questions I had are redundant now.
    As always... Cheers from CE Hell Thailand!

    have you done the same or similar test between the original RC the 1st edition and they RC2 will be interested to see if there is a difference then .
    and can you confirm if there is any difference in system lagging on the RC2 when access in the menus when using a mavic 3 pro Thanks 👍

    Hey Gavin thanks for the video. I did the same type test M4P with RC 2 signal congestion/interference and kept her in VLOS compared it to the Mini 3 Pro with DJI RC. The 04 transmission with that RC really shines bright where you need signal strength. M4P is my favorite drone. Hey Gavin when flying mini 3 Pro have you ever noticed the gimbal when facing down tilt like it was in FPV mode but it isn't? I ask because I feel I can't be the only one to have experienced this. Thank you

    Interesting to see there’s no difference between the two controllers. I just did a similar test with a buddy and our results showed the exact same result as yours, I.e., no difference. We were Dji drone fans but have moved to another brand, mainly due to silly exclusions in their products which they charge premium prices to obtain and environmental reasons. For example, Dji don’t include a clean HDMI Out from most of their controllers, which is a showstopper for us in using their equipment. I know they have it in the RC Pro controller, but the price is extortionate and we could buy a good alternate drone just for the price of the controller alone. Other crazy examples mean you cant just buy the RC pro controller with a compatible drone rather than the standard controller, even if you wanted to. They force you to buy the standard controller bundled with the product (which you don’t want), and then buy the RC Pro as an additional add-on later! This is very poor business practice in a time where environmental awareness and wastefulness is so important. I’m not saying Dji’s products are bad, far from it, but their eye for what the customer wants and environmental awareness leave a lot to be desired. Hopefully they can sort these issues out, it wouldn’t take a lot of effort.

    Then ill take the cheaper N2.. i got a nice 8inch tablet that does very good in the open with much light and good screenrecording.
    Why spend 180 euro for something i already have on my Air 3 :)
    I will spend that money on a extra battery :)

    If you make videos about flying beyond velos could that get you in trouble. It doesn’t matter if people in the comments complain as long as authorities don’t watch the video and take legal action against you

    • @GAVINHR
      @GAVINHR  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It’s less about getting me in trouble but more the headache from comments on here. For me - as long as the flight is safe that should be fine, for example I don’t see any reason why people can’t fly 2/3/4 km out to see providing you’re flying below the 120m ceiling, I can see where the drone is and if there was any emergency aircraft that low I’d just stop the props and ditch it

      @@GAVINHR i agree. I fly beyond velos all the time and I don’t care if it’s illegal. I would just never put it on any social media while putting up my real name.

    The Rc N2 the one with out screen is better then the rc2 with the screen because that screen to see is rubbish to see out side in bright sun and it’s only 700 nits brightness and on the rc N2 I use my iPhone 14 Pro Max with 2000 nits peak brightness and is a lot more easier to see out side and my phone screen is bigger so cheaper can clearly be better some times and in this case the Rc N2 rules because of this .. remember once you paid extra for the screen controller your stuck with the screen it comes with at 700 nits and trust that’s dull in the bright sun
