My top 5 (no particular order) would be: Gillette Nacet, Gillette Silver Blue, Rapira Platinum Lux, Personna Med Preps and one of Personna Lab Blues laser etched or Polsilver or Wizamet Silver Iridium.
I bought a tuck of those Schick blades but still need to use them. I also like the Silver Stars, just not quite too 5 for me.

so many blades choices! In order of preference I enjoy Wizamet Super Iridium, Feather, Gillette 7’oclock Yellow, Nacet and Kai. regards Mr Straight Razor

It's always interesting to hear what others say are their favorite blades. What's funny is that I've never used any of the Top 5 you listed 😱 You didn't ask but here are mine in order of first to last. Nacet Gillette, Astra Green, Personna Lab Blue, Wilkinson Sword (India), and Wilkinson Sword (Germany). I could add the Personna Med Prep but, for me, they are the same as Personna Lab Blue except at 3X the price. In my case, once I tried those 5 brands and liked them, I had no interest in sampling any others. Thank goodness we have so many brands to choose from. That way everybody can find the blades they like best and all the blade manufacturers can make money. Cheers again!

The Kai's are just a little bit wider than most blades. That's why they elevate different razors. They can add a wee bit of blade feel when there was none, due to the wideness. My personal favorite is the Personna Comfort Coated, Made in the USA. Most blades are one or two and done for me. But those Personnas I can get a weeks worth of shaves and not notice a difference from the first shave to the seventh. They're just great blades -- sharp and smooth.

Here i enjoy shark blades and perma sharp and blade choice is a personal preference
I agree 100%, i could have had 10 blades easily in my top 5 lol, all the 7 oclocks, nacet, silver blue voskod lol, its so hard to seperate some of them

I’ve only tried 3 of those blades and two of them would be in my top 5 and the Silver Star maybe just outside the top 5 but still very good. I tend to like sharp and smooth myself. I don’t have an exact order but in my top five I would have Rapira Platinum Lux, Kai, Gillette Nacet, Personna Lab Blue, Voskhod. If I had to pick a winner it come down to probably Kai and Personna with maybe Personna winning with the home field advantage of being made here in the states. But can’t go wrong with any of them. Great seeing another video of yours.

I have yet to try any of those John. My top 5 of the ones I have tried are currently Nacet, Permasharp, Treet Platinum, Voshkod and Astra...I am going to have to try some of your top 5!!

Good choices John. Never tried the Kai blades or the Silver star ones though. Mine would be, in no particular order, Polsilver, Gillette Super Platinum, Rapira Platinum Lux, Gillette Nacet and Personna Platinum. Enjoy the rest of the weekend John

I like those choices! You know the Silver Stars are my favorite, too! If I want a little more aggression out of a razor, I'll throw a Kai in. I think I liked that Rapira when I tried it, and I still haven't tried that Schick blade from Pasteur's, but it's on my list. Since my stubble has gotten stronger, I like sharper blades like the Bic and Feather. The Feather didn't seem rough on the first shave like many guys mention. I think my iron filings tend to take the edge off.😂💪👍🙃🤣 I also find the Crystal to be sharp and smooth. 7 o'clock blacks are almost tied with the Silver Stars. Nacets are also a great balance between sharpness and smoothness. Thanks for doing this top 5. I think I requested this awhile back, too. Next request is best blade/razor combos.😊

@johnshaves101 I'm amazed at how well you remember who/what/when/where etc., with everything. There IS so much to remember with all the people and equipment involved, so you shouldn't feel badly if you mix anything up. I just thought it was cool others asked for the blades and like the same ones as me (especially if they're not typical blades). Keep up the good work. These bonus videos are great!👍👍👍
In no particular order, these are my top five: Gillette silver blue, Derby Usta, Gillette Platinum, PermaSharp, Personna blue

Haven't tried all of those (yet). Mu current top 5, in no particular order, also include Kai, along with: Dorco Prime; Personna Platinum; Bic Chrome Platinum; London Bridge. I recently used a 7 O'Clock black, and I may have to expand to a Top Six or drop one of the others; I'll go another blade or two before saying definitively.
I have yet to find any blades I couldn't get through a shave with (or use up the tuck), but there are some I definitely won't buy again. There was a Merkur blade in with my 34C; Not sharp at all. Shaverboy blades aren't that great, for me - neither sharp nor smooth. PAA Platinum Strangelets aren't a lot better. And Treet Classic black carbon steel blades are only good for two shaves (I usually go four on a blade).

Nice top 5 for now list John! 😉 Tied for 1st in my collection are Personna Med-Prep, Gillette Super Thin (Thailand) and Wizamet Super Iridium. These blades last for at least 5 shaves a piece, and are all sharp and smooth no matter what razor I put them in. Gillette Winner Platinum, Nacet, Gillette Minora Stainless, and Statum Platinum Chrome Sputtered blades are my other favorites...and Voskhod...and Personna Comfort Coated...and.. lol! 😆👍

So subjective isn't it? I've never tried Kai (are they wider than a normal blade?) The Schick are a nice blade. My favourite go to, work in everything blade at the moment is Big Ben closely followed by Thai super thin. Voskhod and Sputnik two other favourites. About 15yrs ago? I was a blade seller on eBay and basically bought the cheapest I could find and impoterted them from China for resale. Some of the most popular blades on the market now I sold then when people had never heard of them :)
Hi dave your 100% spot on, the other problem i had was, the difference between some blades was virtualky non existent, but, a call had to be made, i wresled with leavingbout so many other blades, nacet, perma, voskod... Lol

Blades are the single most subjective item of shaving. Preference, hair type, skin type, razor used, prep, and general health affect how the blade qualities are interpreted.

My number one blade at present is the Israeli Personna Platinum, but running low as they are now made in Germany and not as good🤔 I’m surprised at that, as I normally love German efficiency.
