The small detail about the hand was huge for me, I always felt unstable and off balance going for this but the hand on the matt makes it 10 times more stable comfertable and fluid for me. Appreciate the content man
Wrestled a bit when I was younger. Started no-gi jiu jitsu about a year ago, for the most part I’ve been getting away with blast doubles with a turn to either side, running the pipe with singles, or slide by’s from the collar tie. But I’ve recently realized that I’ve been missing something from my arsenal that I used to utilize during my wrestling, football, and rugby days….the sweep single. The sweep single acts almost like a cheat code against fantastic takedown defense. Most of the effort being done for you by using that angle to offset your opponents balance and then using the had to create a forward pressure into the shin or outside knee. A lot of the times resulting in an immediate takedown. Just got away with spamming the sweep single yesterday at practice, works fantastic against both smaller and bigger opponents.
I have been following this channel for many years! Amazing work Coach, thanks for transmitting your wisdom, you have helped me a lot to improve my wrestling. The quality of the videos are EXCELLENT🙌🏻
Great video. Ramsey incidentally released a video about the Boston Crab the very same day you come out with this gem. This works great for us MMA guys, especially when catching a kick. So many frustrated kickboxers ^^
Cary I'm from southwestern pa not far from where you are from. Keep posting these new videos I'm trying to teach my 5 year old son how to wrestle and these videos are great tools
@@aaronjohnson8995 I know that I'm not who you asked, buy muay thai is a solid choice to train alongside wrestling. Throw in some basic submissions from catch wrestling, and you're a beast. Have a good one 👍
Been looking for a good wrestling channel. I'm not a wrestler. I do BJJ but my stand up and takedowns suck and there aren't great videos on wrestling. Got a new subscriber.
in folkstyle as you build up to finish, the opponent most likely will attempt to scramble to prevent you from scoring. how do you not allow your opponent to scramble as you are about to finish the takedown on your feet?
Hey kolat you probably don't remember me but you once send me a list of required moves for olympic wrestling. Thanks again for that, i watched your videos and took notes on them. Do you think you can give me another list of moves that can really make the complete wrestling. Or something close to that
I am 15 years old and wrestling student..pls can anyone give me tips to not get injured regularly as it has been a problem and even our trainer didn't gave good enough tips ..in last 5 matches I won 2 but I lost 3 as in one I broke my nose and in other my hand got injured a little which helped my opponent...
I am giving my best to wresting but whenever I fight on the mat in front of many people i usually get nervous and lose. How to overcome this? please tell me!
You have to work on your mental game. This comes with meditation and visualizations. Do some deep breathing exercises everyday in a quiet place while visualizing yourself scoring and winning in front of a large crowd. Visualize the win and getting your hand raised and the crowd cheering for you. Also, you must do everything you can to prepare for the match by training hard and this will give you the confidence you need to succeed. On the day of the match you may want to but on some headphones with your favorite inspirational music to drown out the noise so you can focus on your objective. If you prepare yourself like this you will be ready when you stop on the mat because you have been there and done it already in your mind.
I practiced and hit this single twice at BJJ. Thanks, Coach. Beat Army!
Cary, I have been following you for YEARS! But the new video quality is second to none. I’m proud of how far you’ve come brother
So true !
Clicked so fast

Only started training few months back (26 years old). I never regretted anything more than not making the decision to train earlier.
You're still young, at least you didn't wait until 50. Now that would be sad. Thanks for watching!
Simply the best lessons you can get.😮 egoless instruction, pure and Simple.😊 world class.
Thank you!

Dude still looks silky smooth at 48.. love the content Coach. I wish you lots of success at Navy
Slow mo parts are super helpful. I usually use TH-cam playback speed but its all choppy, so its really nice to have some actual slow mo in the video.
Glad it was helpful!
Didn’t realize this was new but thats good to see
Finding the more I watch Coach Kolat, the more I appreciate his work ethic and technique. Clear explanation too.

Those keys to success are literally the key to most arts. From drawing, to music, to grappling. Musashi type stuff
No doubt!

Love sweep singles. Amazing content as always!
Works also great in MMA. And not only Luta Livre. I frustrated SO MANY kickboxers with this ^^
@@RobinMcBeth what martial arts do you practice, cause after wrestling I want to get into and I though Muay Thai sounded cool.

Nice!

Beautiful
Is landing on a hand and collapsing to the elbow how you want to brace for a fall like that? Great video
It looks a lot more pleasant than a ground slap, and I'm a total noob lol
Gold!
He went down to both knees off the pivot. I wish I had known this back in high school I would've hit a lot more sweep singles quicker

What kind of take down is john smith doing there from below? I am not a wrestler, but a bjj player trying to get my takedown game more on point.
John Smith's specialty was a low single. His best attack was usually straight on.
