NZ Deep South Tour Part 10 - On Stewart Island (Rakiura)

The non-bicycle part of our tour. Our bikes and camping gear took a rest for several days in Invercargill while we travelled to Stewart Island. We stayed with Jim at Ponga B&B and explored the island close to Oban by doing several day hikes. There is MUCH more of Stewart Island on the Rakiura Trail but we were not equipped for an extended hike, and we took a bit of a break from the sandflies. The island is a jewel, and the weather there was fabulous. We had lovely sunny days with great scenery, quiet roads and trails to walk, and saw lots of wildlife.
