I just love Joann’s enthusiasm here! The dishes that stand out to me are the Scallops Benedict (as featured on the menu), and the bone marrow plate. I’ve had a bone marrow plate similar to the one Joann had, and fell in love with it. It’s such a delicacy! The way she described the flavor is perfect. As for the Butcher’s Cut pricing, I’m not sure what to think. $59 is definitely reasonable for what you’re getting. Had to remind myself that this is a steakhouse, which is going to be considerably different as to how they price things. On land, a meal like that would easily set you back about $70 apiece, not including tip. So I think this is definitely a good deal. The food looks absolutely on-point. I’ve only done two steakhouses so far: Cagney’s (Norwegian), and Crown Grille (Princess). Both were amazing. As I’ve said before, it seems the cruising industry as a whole is trying to direct passengers more toward specialty dining. I’ve thought recently that for my next cruise I might book specialty restaurants every night, just because the food and experience are so special. My voyage on Holland America’s Koningsdam a couple of months ago was very very good in terms of the included dining experience. The food in their MDR was too good to pass up. Their seafood restaurant (can’t remember the name) was such a great deal. You pay one price, but you’re allowed to order as much food as you want. Been curious about MSC, so thanks for the preview!!! Happy sailing! ~Scott
Yeah the Scallops Benedict sounds very unique- apparently only available for their brunch which we'll have to try next time. We really enjoyed that bone marrow app was rich and buttery. The price is not cheap, but yeah not too unreasonable for a steakhouse nowadays. Apparently Butcher's Cut can be up to 40% off as part of a multiple dining room package, which would be much more reasonable. If you ever try Butcher's Cut, we'd love to hear what you think vs the other cruise line steakhouses! We'll be posting our MSC main dining dinner videos so stay tuned. Gotta say they've improved since we last cruises with them on the Divina 7 years ago. Appreciate your detailed comment Scott, & happy sailing to you too! 😊
Yay! So happy to see ya'll again! That bone marrow looks AHHHHHHmazing!!! I love Joann's enthusiasm when she likes it. Wish I was there with ya'll, have a great summer and hopefully we'll see more soon :)
Yeah it was a really tasty meal. This was a complimentary perk for us since we're MSC Diamond (thanks to their status match program), but if we had to pay those menu prices, we wouldn't. But their specialty dining package is a good value ($99 for 3 specialty restaurants including this one), and that would be worth it IMO.
Mac, and lava cake. Sides looked skimpy. I like meat but not at those prices. Love how animated Joanne was about the food..must admit it looked better than normal cruise ship food. Glad you enjoyed.
Thanks for the comment Kathy! 😊Yeah that mac and cheese was really good- we definitely recommend that one. We all quite enjoyed the dinner- a step up for sure vs the MDR dinner.
Excellent review! Did you buy Dining Experience package pre-cruise or you can just chose it from the menu? We don't want to buy 3,4, 5 dining experience packages but I don't see the package just for the Butcher's Cut restaurant...
Thank you! 😊 We did not buy any package as the Diamond Voyager level allowed us to eat at one (used to be 2) specialty dining per cruise. But you can do just the Butcher's Cut it's a one time $59 (includes one select app, one select main & dessert), and any additional entrees would be 50% off. So the 3x dining package might be worth it if it's less than $100.
That was a good sirloin! 😋 Yup not cheap for sure, though if you get their dining package which includes several dinners I think it can be up to 40% off.
4:35 that steak prob still had a pulse 🤭 Looked a litl too red for me 😭 But a meat only dish is the best 😃😍 Cuz then i dont need to use braincells to peel off veggies 🥲
My only issue is that they only let you pick one appetizer, one main entree and one dessert. I just see a lot of upcharges especially if you want to upgrade. At the very least, they should let people have the main antree included and if they want to upgrade, let them upgrade instead of removing the "free option" for upgrading.

It looked like you enjoyed this meal. Every item you filmed looked delicious. Was it worth the price?

Bit light on with the shrimp. Should be at least five.
For sure, plus the presentation could've been better like using a wide rim glass.
No to the bone marrow lol Everything else looked awesome . Lava cake yes yes ;)
Yeah that was one good lava cake I must say- so rich! Thanks for the comment! 😊
I love sirloin.
Prices are high for sure

Yeah that was kind of rare, but tasty 😋 On a cruise we eat extra veggies otherwise we'd gain 10 pounds lol
