Psh, Kirk doesn't use a wah pedal, he emanates wah. He is wah.
Kirk doesn't play the music, he is the music
Lance pate probably does not how to play guitar his youtube page probably his brother or google
Kirk doesn't use wah, Wah uses kirk..!
Lol I rock therefore I am.
That's hilarious! He is wah hahaha
wife just came storming in thinking i was watching porn
LOL that just happened to me. she's like what are you watching??? me in a calm Michael Cera like voice 'Guitar Videos Honey".
My boy was jacking off to wah. I don't blame you😂
5:07 1:21 dude really hahahaha
why would you play jazz for two rock/metal wah pedals
@Charle MIJ shut-
@Charle MIJ ya like jazz?
Haha😂
Ingamar Siegruhn I do.
Because you won’t hear the true characteristics of the Wah with straight distortion cutting out all the dynamics
Kirks wah sounds a bit deeper/lower and Slashs sounds a bit brighter and clearer
There both fucking sick 😝
It does kinda make sense, because Kirk might need a lower sound for the Thrashy solos and stuff, and Slash uses his for the Pop Rock solos.
I’m sure you can get that sound out of the slash one with all those knobs
@@alexlogan124 they're for distortion
Kirk Wahmmett
LOL!!!!! Bob Rock said he tried to hide the wah pedal from Kirk in the studio.
haha, its impossible hide the wah wah of kirk xD
Yalef Andre Hammett is wah king, we cant' t hide his crown :D
Rockdaypl And he is the best for me :D
I like him too ! He is legend !!!!!!
The people who say they sound the same have no FICKING ear to me the slash one has more treble feel when the Kirk one has more bass and mid kind of tone
Agreed. They are new plays who think pedals will make them better players. It's also the same guys who think Chibsons are the same as Gibson.
It also helps when you have headphones on.
Funny that, I played a Kirk Hammett Wah today and I felt like it didn't have as much lower end range than my Slash pedal, which is full of bass and low end when you rock the pedal back.
I actually preferred the Hammett one for that reason, I get lost in the low end with my Slash pedal... Hammett one was easier to play for me, for some reason.
Hypocrisy ikr in my opinion the Kirk made a wah noise as it should but the slash made more of an ohwah noise i think
It might help too if he just played more than just jazz and actually played what most people would be purchasing the two pedals for, METAL
@@kieranoconnor333 you are correct. The Slash wah actually has a lower frequency and also as a higher frequency. It’s just a greater range of frequency than the Kirk Hammett wah.
270hz-1.9khz for Slash vs 300hz-1.8khz for Hammett.
Why play blues with to famous metal lead players wah wah's?
I know right. I was waiting to hear the metal tones but they never came.
I guess it was just to hear the frecuency response of the devise
@Charle MIJ Or you could, y'know, not watch it…
When it comes to wah, Kirk is the pedal
I love when people are demoing wahs that are sigs for metal/hard rock players and use little to no gain at all. Like, I definitely want some variety in tones but this is just one thing the entire video.
Yep...
Was scrolling through the whole video to see the guitar on high gain
And it's like.... He's using little gain 😐
oddly enough it sounds like the kirk wah has a more warm tone to it. the slash wah has a cool look with the LED lights. I think adding some green LEDs to the kirk wah would have really upped the buying factor on that. honestly though, i'd have to go with the kirk wah. i prefer the warmer tone coming from that and i'm a bigger fan of kirk
Can't spell Wahmmett without a W
Although they sound very similar, I think that the Slash one has a much more full-body tone and lively sound. Both sound great but the Slash pedal just rocks for blues!
You can count on Kirk for the best wah
Since that’s all he uses
Got to go with the Slash wah. It has a bit more high-end honk, but not too much where it sounds nasally. The Kirk Hammett wah is too subtle and midrangey for my tastes, but more power to you if you like that.
Slash wah sounds like the guy who got drunk at the party and kirk hammett wah sounds like the guy who snorted cocaine at the party. Now they're sharing an uber back home😂
Is it just me or is his playing just more tasteful when he uses the Kirk Hammett wah??
Sandarpan Ryan's playing is considered to be very tasty in general..
im agree with u man, he is playing more tasteful with the kirk :\
im agree with u man, he is playing more tasteful with the kirk :\
im agree with u man, he is playing more tasteful with the kirk :\
+Jose Green im agree with u man, he is playing more tasteful with the kirk :\
Thanks!! I love my early 80s green FASEL JEN serviced by the fantastic Stu Castledine. These late JENs are a bit more gainy and wide-range sounding than earlier examples (dif transistors). They show more lows and highs; in a way, rather different to my other wah (Roger Mayer Red Lion). Both great! Stock Dunlops are okay although not as nice as other (more expensive) options.
I've had a Vox 847 Wah Wah for 14 years, and I love its crazy loud Growl. Nothing Growls like a Vox Wah.
I recently got a second hand chinese made 487a from japan and it's great, it's just the right sort of wah I wanted. I looked at the circuitboard the other day and when you unscrew it and flip it over it has a bunch of surface mount resistors and some capacitors which I'm not overkeen on but it sounds good. I might make an old style circuitboard for it sometime with the through hole components as I don't think I would be capable of replacing those tiny surface mount fkrs if they stopped working lol.
They sound pretty close to me, but I like the Kirk model better.
The kirk one definitely has that mid rangey "bark" to it, while the slash Wah sits in the upper mids/treble frequencies
They're both really cool, but prefer the Slash, because it sounds a little cleaner, and well defined
But I prefer the Slash, is what i meant
This sounds like I am watching porn.....
Yes! That was also my first thought when he started playing! Lollol!
YAAH its very sexy
Stop watching porn
What strikes me is that the Hammet one is thicker where the Slash one is more susceptible to gain. You can of course achieve both effects from the same pedal with minimum tweaking of tone and volume while playing. Essentially they're not too different, apart from having different sponsors and branding.
basically each wah is suited for different purposes...you hear kirk playing heavy fast metal solos while slash is more melodic and rock solos...i play both genres and i wouldnt mind picking up both...if i had to choose one i would choose the kirk wah...just like the tone better i guess...
Kirk's wah Kick Ass!!
I have the kirk one. Have had it for a while and dont know how to get it to sound like kirk using it, for example amp settings, etc.
He has a good amount of aftereffects as well, so you're not gonna get a perfectly "Kirk" sound unless you're running it through a Diezel VH4 and a few pre-amps. I'd look up his rig and it'd give you some insight as to what all he does to get that sound. Truthfully if you got the money, don't go with a Diezel, just snag a mesa boogie rectifier head with a mesa cab(or anything with vintage 30's), roll the distortion up to about 8, dial back your mids, push your treble, and you'll be close.
is it good
and which one is better slash's or kirk hammett's pedal
What setting do i need to use to get the raw wah effects like on the solo of the end of the line or suicide and redemption? I have a line 6 amp and just got the kirk sig wah pedal today, please help.
I don't think its about the pedal/amp settings with the Kirk wah, I'm pretty sure its all in your foot action. If you notice when Kirk plays he uses small lifts and sometimes, along with that, a rapid action. Hope this helps in some way :)
I think I like the sound of the Kirk ( My left side ) Too. I always felt that pedals have a way of pulling me to be more aggressive when playing as do any other pedal besides a wah dose. Thats why I would prefer to have a tunable wah with as many tone perramiters as posable. Any who In this showdown I would use the Kirk Hammett Pedal Thanks for posting c];-D
which one is better please i want to buy
Great playing, man! Do you ever do studio work? Let me know - I'm a producer in LA.
Benjamin
What back tracking system did you use? Please answer I've been trying to learn about this
how different are they to the gcb-95, which is way cheaper? i'm thinking about buying a wah pedal, not sure which one to go for.
Is this pedal good for playing reggae and funk?
Listening to this wah effect makes me open my mouth like the pedal, its kinda wierd but it just sounds so cool
Great demo, I've made up my mind. It's the slash Signature Wah for me. Cheers
for the backing track what chords are you using
Is that a gold fender strat? where did that guy get it
Amazing tone!
Are these any different to the normaly Jim Dunlop Wah Wah?
I liked the finish on that strat.
Super sleek.
I dont know. I just noticed that the kirk wah has more range than the other wahs I have tried, so I figured I would look into it. He sounds good with both of those pedals. They are both Dunlop crybabys. Check out the Boss v wah. That thing is different to say the least.
slash model seems more useful with lights and adjustment os the sweep frequency but the krk hammet looks way cooler, can't we have both in a single unit?
Both these also have distortion? If I bought one (Kirk Version) could I also use it for a standalone distortion effect?
Kirk's doesn't have distortion
ron Jeremy signature wah wah wammy
*ALRIIIIIIGHT!*
Hahahah Best comment!
Both very good pedals nice playing too
Like how u got straight into it
damn i like the tone of the hammett one but wish it had the extra features of the slash one
Awesome video!! Kind of on a see-saw about both of these pedals and this didn't help.
Great demo bro!!
I really liked the playing in this video.
Thanks, but I think the Morley George Lynch Dragon 2 Wah has them both beat.
Lovoing the slash wah
Nice playing, dude!
Man..the tele and the slash...nice.
Maybe you mean Strat not tele
Nope..tele was my favorite sound..
No , I mean He is Using Stratocaster not Telecaster
@ 5:06 he is using a telecaster.
Bimo Sabili Mediteranio beerdrinking sob is rigth @ 5;06 he isrocking a telecaster
you need to do this test clean to get the true tone of the wha
if you play with dist. you color the sound, and you don't get a true tonal sound.
you can also change the thickness of the slash wah
I had the kirk Hammett, dimebag, zakk wylde, and Jerry Cantrell wah. the Hammett one was probably my over all favorite. the Cantwell wah was awesome too it had a thick dark tone to it. the dime is the most versatile hands down! if you're only going to get one wah get the dome because the sound is really adjustable! I didn't care for the wylde wah personally. I felt like it was the least universal, a one trick pony. you could set the dime up to sound just like it. I wild be interested to try out the slash wahs though I've always loved his sound
But which one is better
i like that slash's design. i like how it lights up when u turn it on.. but i personally like kirks better
Great demo! Thx =)
both sound nice
slash wah is better, the kirk hammett wah makes me think 70's porn film LOL
Both are nice
I also dislike that about dunlop wah. Have any more info on your pedal?
Man, why the hell is the soundtrack that loud while you're trying to explain the features?
damn nice riffs you're playing dude
best review I've ever seen
Excellent comparison!! thanks alot ;)
I like the slash wah more because it sounds like it has more bite to it.....the other one is also very cool but more mellow sort off.
who is the winner ?
hey Ryan, are you by any chance Singaporean? =D
Nice video
IMO the Slash wah just has more "mojo", more pronounced midrange, and in my case, would probably inspire better playing.
would have been helpful if he played some of their solos that the wahs are designed for!!!
do a video with the same two, but using lead tones you know
"Sweet child o'mine" solo brought me up here! Lol
Amazing!
I guess that's because Kirk's wah seems to tune low and Slash's wah had a little shaper filtering.
you cant tell the sound by rocking it back and forth every second............................i got the zakk wylde wah and the range is great real toney in the lows and you can get some great dimbag floyd rose squeals up in the high range with some good distortion runnin behind it
People are really complaining here that he's not playing with more distortion? As if there aren't other videos OR KIRK AND SLASH THEMSELVES where we can hear what these pedals sound like in a Rock/Metal situation. Geez. If anything, this video was needed to hear what both pedals sound like in a more mellow style. So many people online say that the SC95 and SW95 sound bad in anything that isn't Rock/Metal, yet this video proves that they sound decent enough. Hell, I really like their tone (everyone has different tastes). This just further cemented my decision to buy one of them, as they're available for 100 bucks right now where I live (used, obviously).
What's the difference between the two they're both abused
the wireing, the frequency and the price of course ;)
Kirk uses the Crybaby rack unit, the doesn't even use pedals on stage, just expression pedals from the rack unit, using the rack its possible to have up to 4 expressions pedals on stage (that would be helpful in a metallica concert for example). Slash is currently using his new signature model wah, 'cause the never needed the overdrive included, but mainly to the poor bypass of this model.
I love the testing of any pedal or effect outside it's "natural environment" but still I wouldn't say any review of those pedal is nearly complete without comparing their Rock and Metal capabilities.
Also interesting would have been to include a classic crybaby. I'm currently thinking about getting my first wah and which it should be and while I've always been a great Kirk Hammett and Metallica fan I wonder if I'm not limiting myself too much to one specific sound with the KH-Wah and if a classic crybaby can't do the job just as well.
Slashs wah has abit more bite too it, I think that's more accustomed to his tone, Kirks wah sounds thicker, personally prefer the slash wah
La ventaja del pedal Wha de Kirk Hammett es que tiene mente propia .___.
Kirk Hammett
slash's wah FTW
Let me test two of the greatest distortion guitarist pedals on a clean guitar
I Love my Standard Cry Baby. It's my signature model :D
I am an old wah nerd, seen a lot of them. The best? The mini wah Q!!
Kirk's wah is that typical high frequency wah tone while Slash's is that bit lower buzzing wah tone. both are genius
both rock
Kirk`s Pedal Win!!!
Kirks, I know what I'm getting for Christmas!
I agree!
ok thanks, you decided it for me - i am getting a Morley
please someone tell me of artists who play this way!
I can probably say Jimi Hendrix
Look at his song Voodoo Child (Slight Return)
+David Romero no offense but, who doesn't know jimi Hendrix lol
+Drzpapigio14 you asked mate
indeed I did, I wanted more than one artist though
+Drzpapigio14 Clapton, EVH, Hendrix, SRV, Cantrell, Steve lukather
The kings of the pentatonic scale.
Dude... forget the wah pedals, you're a sick guitarist! Hot damn, those were some sweet riffs!
I preffer the Slash wah, I like the wah to have a bright tone.
