Years back, if I remember correctly, the tab your date code was on (in the Speedy) depended on where it was made. USA Speedys had the date code on the left interior tab under the pocket. European-made Speedys had it on the right tab.
Yep. I think they look fake because they are SO white when you get them. I love to patina the bags though. It's such a fun process! :D Love the speedy bags so much
@@LVCoffeeLVer Have you been able to get the newer bags to patina? I have two vachetta straps purchased from LV in the last 3 years and they simply don't patina like the vintage vachetta. They are somewhat darker now, but hardly. And they feel more plasticky. LV is really getting over on us these days.
K C yes. Most that i own are still raw but the Iena..the original straps I had were treated. They did patina evenly however, they frayed and wrinkled really oddly. Now that I had them replaced, they are raw now and much better

Great review, I just purchased a vintage speedy from my birth year! I wonder if part of the reason why their stuff was going out of stock for long periods of time is because they were trying to improve their quality issues? Since everyone for years now has been complaining about quality decreasing.
That's an awesome idea!!! You know, that would make sense but I honestly think they are doing it to make people want them more. If people can't just get on and order them, it will make them make quicker purchases when they become available.
Just came across this video, very informative! Love your speedys💕. I also have a monogram speedy from 2004 and i purchased a speedy in damier azur in 2016 i did notice the canvas on my new speedy was very thin compared to my older one. I did not like that so i ended up selling it.
Your bags look amazing. I have a new, well got it last year speedy 35 bandolier so the canvas feels thinner. But so far I love it. While I still change out of it when wet weather comes around so the bag is brand new still. Hoping this summer I can use it more & get a proper wear n tear on the bag. I love your mon monogram bag it’s so beautiful the blue interior is gorgeous! I want to get the damier ebene speedy 35 bandolier. I’m in no hurry. It’s always nice to get a new speedy so I’ll be looking forward to that when it happens. I love looking at your speedys because I know you use them well & gives me a good idea what the bag will look like after some years or years of use. I think it's so funny because I didn't think i'd like the zipper pocket either but i love it!! ANd i love that the pocket is now slightly larger!! Win win there. I do think that the canvas of my new speedy isn't thin though. I wish they would do better with consistency!
I believe they went from having the lined vinyl Speedy pocket to the new style because of peeling. With age, rough use, and if not using the pocket, it CAN get sticky and peel. I have seen so many Speedy pockets that are peeling. My best friend doesn’t take good care of her bag, and she had a sticky peeling pocket and was not able to use it
Love your new speedy. I got one for Christmas and I really kinda like the pull tab better for some reason but it does turn sideways at times and I didn't think I'd like the new chaps being puffy but I do even tho I have a speedy from 2013 and I love everything about that one too...I do consider those to be more classic I guess. I can't tell the difference in the canvas either. I love your videos and look forward to watching more soon 💕

I have two speedys from 1994 and from 2006 and I like the one from 1994 better because the handles and canvas look way better and sturdier for some reason it's also made in France. The one from 2006 made in the USA and and it's just a little different. Handles feel thinner. Canvas soft and nice though
I have bags from france and from the USA and it doesn't seem to matter where they are from. Each country's bags have issues. I just exchanged my second clapton MIF for issues! I believe that it is just the current LV quality. I'm going to stick with what I already have. xoxo!!!!!
Daniella Steel I just purchased a Speedy 30 pre-loved made in 2006 and I notice the handles are thinner than my speedy 30 made in 2015. I was afraid it wasn’t real because of the handles.
Great video- love how in depth you are. I recently bought a new Speedy B and I was concerned about quality but it’s perfect. (Knock wood as well) Even my new Reverse PM looks great and I was scared to add that one after all of the issues I’ve heard about. I prefer the classic speedy over the bandoliere. To me the speedy is a handheld bag. If I want a shoulder bag, I’ll reach for one of my other bags. I have had the bandolier and ended up selling them. The only thing I don’t “love” about the newer ones is the zippered pocket. I sort of prefer just having the flap but it’s not a major deal to me.
So funny because I LOVE the bandouliere. I love the fact that it can be hand held or I can throw it over my shoulder when It gets heavy. I am actually surprised that I love the zippered pocket bc I always thought i would hate it lol
Personally, I think vintage has better quality than now. I had cosmetic pouch was made 1985. It still in excellent condition. But compare with recent years items , it just can not hold more than 10 Years. I love vintage. Great comparison, love your video and just subbed ❤️

I’m curious about your zipper on the speedy b. I have a classic 30 with a smooth zipper, but my speedyb 25 zipper has always been rough. It requires 2 hands to zip/unzip.

I have found comments about quality Re newer LV bags interesting because that’s exactly what’s happened with Mulberry, hence the switch. I still have a few shoulder Mulberry’s though. Plus, I really liked the idea of buying vintage with ties to dates. So, 1991 is the year between the births of both my daughters and I bought a 2002 looping cloth GM for another anniversary I follow. I just don’t like being so ‘green’ about the brand. I was quite up to speed with Mulberry, especially fakes and care, but I’m completely clueless re LV 😂. This, in my opinion, has led to people being cautious especially on EBay so lower prices and bargains can be found. You may know this but a site, US based I think - purseforum has a system where you can submit details and get a free authentication before purchase. Just in case you didn’t know. I bought my Alma MM in Feb 5 months ago. The vachette leather doesn't change color to patina. I like to know how long it takes to get it darker? My SA at boutique told me to uncover it and keep it out of closet. he ordered for me and it came made in France. Love it and bought size pm damier for daily use to work

@@Hippy2021 The vachetta leather they use now is not the same quality of older bags. My older bags would patina easily, especially if left in sunlight. Now, it seems it will take yeaaaaars to get that processed leather to turn darker. I hate the new leather they are using.
Great comparison! I got a world tour speedy with black straps and just my initials a few months ago and the canvas feels very thin compared to my other monogram bags. Others on the purse forum have noticed this too. I don't understand why they use different canvas on different monogram bags. As you say though, thinner doesn't automatically means worse. I'll just have to see how it wears. LOVE the colours you chose on the mon monogram!
I hope that down the road, the thinner canvas will turn out to be a good thing. I LOVE the world tour with just initials on them. Way before they came out with that i would say that the most perfect bag they could make is a speedy with black handles lol
Great review but I have a question, what about the hardware.? Considering they used to use real Brass and now their website legit says “Golden Color metallic Pieces” ,unless in 2004 maybe they had possibly already switched from real brass to plated gold which eventually will turn silver ,I thought I was the only one that had my Damier ebene mini Pochette d ring turn silver til I watched Sophie Shohets brand new video ,same d ring and everything as mine , I also heard from a few youtubers LV is Now offering bags where the customers can chose stark white vachetta or vachetta that already has patina pretty sure I heard it in Melissa from Memes treasures video on her new speedy b 25 limited edition that was just released along with another youtuber but I can’t remember who ! I actually heard the change from solid brass took place way back in the 70’s and they have just used less and less brass as the years have gone on to cut costs most of us wouldn’t even know as most of us were not even born yet interesting to actually read all of the changes since they were the French company !
The thing about that is, my 2004 speedy...NONE of the "brass" has turned silver....and back then and even until a few years ago, it said that it was brass however....my pochette accessories is from like 06 or around then (id have to look again) and the D ring that the strap attaches to has turned silver too. i honestly think that parts are or were brass while others never were. Lke the attachment clap thing has never turned silver....makes me wonder...
I’m also thinking deep down the bandoulieres didn’t work for me Because they reminded me of mini keep alls because of the leather strip down the side there is just something about the style of the classic speedy that I think I loved a lot more back in the day I honestly don’t think the canvas was ever thicker on the speedy I feel like it’s always been the same with monogram however I noticed a huge difference within 1 year with my Damier ebene canvas when I sold my 30 b and bought the 25 b and this was only with the Damier ebene canvas I noticed a difference not a bad thing by the way because I think over time there will be less canvas cracking issues so it may in a way be an improved thing if I compare my Noe actually both of them next to the canvas on my Melie my Melie is way softer but I think it may have something to do with the linings not the actual canvas my Melie has microfiber interior my noes both have textile interiors the inside of that pocket change will absolutely get dirtier faster than the wipeable material inside the pocket they used to have but that older pocket on the vintage bags would peel over time I think them changing it was actually smart no peeling and textile is fairly easy to clean minus pen marks those just don’t come out your interior is to gorgeous Tiff no pen marks ,years ago they were on the left and right that was LV trying to keep up and fake out the replica people they were constantly switching little things up my speedy b 25 Damier came direct from LV and had a different stamp where the letters were separate from the numbers that was the only one I had that was different I think their classics remain just about the same besides the hardware my Noes are still the same as years ago and most are made after 2000 I think the canvas differences were years ago when they were the fresh company most of us are to young and don’t have vintage to see the canvas differences
Yes, the metals already totally different. Instead of the brass hardware getting a patina and having to clean it with a metal cleaner, they’re all much cheaper now and the golden metal coating rubs or chips off. Just FYI on SLGs, you can take them in to the store and all of the zipper pulls are a free repair. Also, if the key chain on your Clés breaks or is not gold anymore, that is also a free replacement. You can request a bag to have pre-patina leather. The new “vintage” special edition that was released, does have the pre-aged (patina) leather FoxyLV has the new line with the aged leather. Also, have you noticed how bright and shiny the gold hardware is on DE Bags? It looks so pretty, but is very odd. Also, people complain that they will order a Speedy B. The clasps will have the bright gold hardware, but the hardware in the strap is the “dull” brass. So they don’t really match. I think it’s ridiculous. They’re using one color of clasps to save money instead of just using all of the same hardware gold tones 🙄 it has bothered so many people they return the bag and are told that’s the way they all are.
LOL duh, the speedy B is suppose to look like a mini keep all. You're so silly. I love that though. I do notice that my MC speedy is MUCH thicker but truthfully I like the feelings of the canvas now. It is thinner feeling on my delightful but I don't feel like its a bad thing

Yeah, that i just how the speedy b is. For some reasons all those claps are super duper shiney. They should really use the same on every part of a bag. I get it if they vary from bag to bag but when its the same bag its dumb that they dont' use the same "brass"

@@LVCoffeeLVer hi💝 I don't use much and don't keep it in dust bag. Leave outside on the shelf of my bedroom . I don't see color change at all. Mostly I use the damier for easy care. Is it take a year or longer as said my SA?
@@Hippy2021 The vachetta leather they use now is not the same quality of older bags. My older bags would patina easily, especially if left in sunlight. Now, it seems it will take yeaaaaars to get that processed leather to turn darker. I hate the new leather they are using.
Great comparison! I got a world tour speedy with black straps and just my initials a few months ago and the canvas feels very thin compared to my other monogram bags. Others on the purse forum have noticed this too. I don't understand why they use different canvas on different monogram bags. As you say though, thinner doesn't automatically means worse. I'll just have to see how it wears. LOVE the colours you chose on the mon monogram!
I hope that down the road, the thinner canvas will turn out to be a good thing. I LOVE the world tour with just initials on them. Way before they came out with that i would say that the most perfect bag they could make is a speedy with black handles lol
Great review but I have a question, what about the hardware.? Considering they used to use real Brass and now their website legit says “Golden Color metallic Pieces” ,unless in 2004 maybe they had possibly already switched from real brass to plated gold which eventually will turn silver ,I thought I was the only one that had my Damier ebene mini Pochette d ring turn silver til I watched Sophie Shohets brand new video ,same d ring and everything as mine , I also heard from a few youtubers LV is Now offering bags where the customers can chose stark white vachetta or vachetta that already has patina pretty sure I heard it in Melissa from Memes treasures video on her new speedy b 25 limited edition that was just released along with another youtuber but I can’t remember who ! I actually heard the change from solid brass took place way back in the 70’s and they have just used less and less brass as the years have gone on to cut costs most of us wouldn’t even know as most of us were not even born yet interesting to actually read all of the changes since they were the French company !
The thing about that is, my 2004 speedy...NONE of the "brass" has turned silver....and back then and even until a few years ago, it said that it was brass however....my pochette accessories is from like 06 or around then (id have to look again) and the D ring that the strap attaches to has turned silver too. i honestly think that parts are or were brass while others never were. Lke the attachment clap thing has never turned silver....makes me wonder...
I’m also thinking deep down the bandoulieres didn’t work for me Because they reminded me of mini keep alls because of the leather strip down the side there is just something about the style of the classic speedy that I think I loved a lot more back in the day I honestly don’t think the canvas was ever thicker on the speedy I feel like it’s always been the same with monogram however I noticed a huge difference within 1 year with my Damier ebene canvas when I sold my 30 b and bought the 25 b and this was only with the Damier ebene canvas I noticed a difference not a bad thing by the way because I think over time there will be less canvas cracking issues so it may in a way be an improved thing if I compare my Noe actually both of them next to the canvas on my Melie my Melie is way softer but I think it may have something to do with the linings not the actual canvas my Melie has microfiber interior my noes both have textile interiors the inside of that pocket change will absolutely get dirtier faster than the wipeable material inside the pocket they used to have but that older pocket on the vintage bags would peel over time I think them changing it was actually smart no peeling and textile is fairly easy to clean minus pen marks those just don’t come out your interior is to gorgeous Tiff no pen marks ,years ago they were on the left and right that was LV trying to keep up and fake out the replica people they were constantly switching little things up my speedy b 25 Damier came direct from LV and had a different stamp where the letters were separate from the numbers that was the only one I had that was different I think their classics remain just about the same besides the hardware my Noes are still the same as years ago and most are made after 2000 I think the canvas differences were years ago when they were the fresh company most of us are to young and don’t have vintage to see the canvas differences
Yes, the metals already totally different. Instead of the brass hardware getting a patina and having to clean it with a metal cleaner, they’re all much cheaper now and the golden metal coating rubs or chips off.
Just FYI on SLGs, you can take them in to the store and all of the zipper pulls are a free repair. Also, if the key chain on your Clés breaks or is not gold anymore, that is also a free replacement.
You can request a bag to have pre-patina leather. The new “vintage” special edition that was released, does have the pre-aged (patina) leather

Also, have you noticed how bright and shiny the gold hardware is on DE Bags? It looks so pretty, but is very odd.
Also, people complain that they will order a Speedy B. The clasps will have the bright gold hardware, but the hardware in the strap is the “dull” brass. So they don’t really match.
I think it’s ridiculous. They’re using one color of clasps to save money instead of just using all of the same hardware gold tones 🙄 it has bothered so many people they return the bag and are told that’s the way they all are.

I do notice that my MC speedy is MUCH thicker but truthfully I like the feelings of the canvas now. It is thinner feeling on my delightful but I don't feel like its a bad thing

Yeah, that i just how the speedy b is. For some reasons all those claps are super duper shiney. They should really use the same on every part of a bag. I get it if they vary from bag to bag but when its the same bag its dumb that they dont' use the same "brass"

LVCoffeeLver omg I got a speedy classic 25 from 2012 the other day off Poshmark and the lady only worn it 5 times and I believe her it is in excellent condition and so clean and smells new lol I’m so happy I got one she said she keeps all her bags up in storage and it just came so beautiful and I only had to pay 550 and it came with everything so happy

Ivy Munro no, they were always the same size. The new speedy now has a bigger pocket. The size has changed :) which is nice bc now it holds more

The new canvas is weak and the leather now, is low quality... they do NOT patina beautifully like my older bags.
My new ones patina amazingly also...I think as long as it's raw vachetta it seems to patina the same. Now, the ones that are "treated" do not...
What's the need of having 3 of the same style handbag? I love LV too, but some of us just recklessly waste money on frivolous things.
