Here is a very savvy tip! If your interested in a bag like a speedy for example, buy one that’s very used but has the canvas in great condition, and have the leather replaced. I bought a speedy 25 from 1997 for 200€ ≠ 189$ and had the leather replaced, which set me back another 600€ coming out at 800€ for basically a now, brand new Speedy. The current retail for a new speedy 25 is 1.300,00€ in Germany. This way you get the store “experience” a new Dustbag, Box, Shopping bag, the beautiful brand new vachetta and can build up a relationship with a CA as well. I highly, highly recommend the LV repair service! It has never let me down, and truly makes the items timeless. ❤ Personally I shop a lot secondhand (sucker for everything 90s & Y2K) but also in store because certain styles are just to new to buy them pre-loved.
I went to the Place Vendôme boutique and was able to purchase a luggage tag, without buying or owning a bag. I spent 50 euros and had it immediately hot-stamped. I can't say if it's generally easier in Paris or if I got lucky, but I now plan on collecting every country-specific stamp!
Remember that stores in a mall may not be able to serve champagne. The store I go to doesn't serve it. I saw someone who was intending to buy ask for it and when they were told they were happy to provide water the lady left in a huff feeling she was being slighted. I heard the SAs talking after and got the scoop that they cannot serve any alcohol per the mall rules (not a restaurant). I happily take the water.
Good recs on all the preloved items. Totally agree with the cles and zippy coin especially. Those are always running close to retail, buy new. I feel like the SA in the stores always refer to the Vernis items as patent leather. The first time the SA showed me an item in Vernis she called it patent it took me by surprise.
Your so right about saving more for a better condition bag. My mistake was go for cheap on my speedy 30 and the handles were to dark and I had to have them replaced so in the long run I didn’t really save much money. I should of bought a new shoulder strap because I only saved 50 dollars on the pre lived one plus it was old.
I did the same with my Speedy 35 monogram. Handles are dark and the condition of the bag is lower than my standards...but I bought it specifically to be a project bag (I plan to have the handles dyed then paint it a design on it).
You can reshape your bag using clothing iron and iron from inside your bag. LV repair service is excellent specially for the hardware replacement. Zipper pull replacement is free. I personally got key ring and chain of my cles replacement free.
I've heard something about that but I'm afraid to try it. I wouldn't be able to iron it from the inside because the lining is smaller than the exterior of the bag, if that makes sense. I'm glad you've had such great experiences! I have a few pieces I should take in for minor repairs this summer.
Nice job with this video! I really enjoyed learning about your experience as I build my collection. Which is not yet a collection, it is ONE bag. And I LOVE my bag! Thank you for sharing~
I always have great experiences, but I have a black step-sister and we’ve gone luxury shopping many times, split up in the store just to go towards what we wanted to see first and the same associate who is kind and helpful with me, will treat her MUCH differently! One time, an SA asked if she was my personal shopper. It was so ugly.
I almost mentioned this topic in the video because a few other people have told me they've felt like they've been treated badly in luxury boutiques because of their race. I'm so sorry your sister had those experiences. It's awful and so wrong.
Autumn Beckman its a very valid concern for women of color, especially! I notice that when I have one or both my kids with me, SA are less likely to give me good customer service...that bugs me, but it’s nothing compared to being discriminated against for my ethnicity!
Hi Autumn, thank you so much for the great advices 👍. With the neverful you are absolutely right. It's better to buy it new. In Germany it is also more expensive to get it preloved because of the pouch. Most of the time you have to buy it separately. I like it when my items from Louis Vuitton has patina. Otherwise I don't wear them that often. I am afraid of ruining my SLGs or bags. Where I live it rains a lot.... Steffi
great video thank you ... I waited and was patient and now I have two LV a Speedy and a Travel bag ... plus a Gucci bucket purse ... all pre-loved 😊 now I'm saving for a small LV and for that I will wait for the store experience .. thank you again ❤
When I bought my Speedy 30 in Chicago, I was offered champagne when the SA heard it was my first time at LV. He made such a fuss. That was the day I fell in love with the brand :-)
I plan to buy my first LV pre-loved as a milestone gift when I buy my 2nd house. I went back and forth with new and used. The deciding factor for me was the price $800 less buying pre-loved. As much as I would love the in store experience of purchasing an LV I don't feel its worth $800 :(
I just bought an epi alma bb for almost half priced with a little hair lines scratches here n there on the base and i totally agree that I would be too scared to use it if it was brand new
Great video. I recognized that preloved speedys and neverfulls are so often offered for nearly retail price, although the condition of them is really bad. Can´t understand who buys it, because for 50 or 100 more you can get a perfect bag in store.
I've seen good condition Speedy bags and old model Neverfulls for a few hundred less than retail but I do see plenty of them near, at, or even above retail and those confuse me.
Great job!! Exactly the video anyone should see when starting buying preloved! May be i can add st! If an item looks too good to be true (mint condition and great price) that’s may be bc it is not true! Learnt it the hard way too lol✨
This was such awesome information for the first time buyer or even someone like me who has jumped the gun so many times instead of waiting for an item whether new or pre loved I agree with Charms 100% however 1 charm I new to buy pre loved was my insolence charm and that’s because I knew it was made of more hard plastic than metal but your right on the facettes charm , I’ve also had the amazing champagne in store experience as well as the not so nice in store experience in another location I’ve also had great online experiences and some very terrible ones all with Louis Vuitton I have had the fortunate experience of going directly into the chanel boutique in manhattan and I have to be honest I was underwhelmed with what I saw ,I saw crooked bags and some with off stitching ,leathers that looked nothing like what I see my Aunt has in her closet which are vintage chanel ,I definitely think sometimes pre loved older models were the better made , I look at my new Pochette Accessories next to my older Trevi Pm or even my Tivoli GM and I see cheaper quality zippers are now being used so it’s sometimes the luck of the draw Autumn let me tell ya I’ve learned so much over my many years of purchasing mainly LV I’ve learned no matter where I venture they will remain my first love when it comes to luxury there is something about their canvas and even their Epi leather that intrigued me I find their older quality to be extremely durable and if taken care of properly it can last a lifetime this was such a great video ! I enjoyed it very much ,that’s right girl ask for that glass of champagne or 2 or 3 depending on what you are buying I truly miss my old SA for those experiences she made every single one whether I was buying a small piece or a large piece amazing and it should be that way still across the board they all need consistency when it comes to customer service and quality !
Lee Lee LV unfortunately losing a lot of respect I had for LV, because of poor quality, yet raging prices, and to me, even worse, POOR customer service... NOT OK
As usual this is a very thorough video. I have also made mistakes early on. Namely, impulsive buys, not enough extensive research, and believe it or not 'listening' to the SA(what they were called then). There is good information here on TH-cam and other sites/groups-however your videos are comprehensive and practical. I appreciate it. Thanks for the video. Btw, I am not a true collector in my opinion. I have a couple bags and slgs I wanted and feel for the price and stance Louis Vuitton has taken recently and the known history of the unstable quality of US made items, I can't more forward with investing more of my time and money... I continue to like watching videos like yours and other luxury lovers and who knows... Thanks again!
Great video as always! 😄 Sometimes I wonder if Louis Vuitton is creating this illusion of having a canvas “shortage” in an effort to make people have to buy whatever they can get their hands on instead of only the Made in France items. 🤔
Yes. There's no such thing as a canvas shortage. It's a deliberate effort by Vuitton to make their brand more exclusive and drive demand. What they're really doing is driving a lot of people to the preloved market.
I may have misunderstood, but when You said when buying handbags, you recommend buying pre loved because it’s cheaper, and you can see the wear and tear on the item.. that was the part I was a little confused on... I personally wouldn’t want to buy or spend that much money, even pre loved is a chunk of money honestly, but I personally would be buying a piece to use it and get long term use and wear of it, and unfortunately I do struggle with OCD, legitimate OCD, so that always causes me a lot of stress and fear of buying pre loved bc of the wear and tear, scratches on hardware, etc... I guess it depends on who you buy from, because I personally take very good care of my belongings, even things that may not be considered high end luxury, I still try to take care of my things, so I am sure that there are others that are the same way:) so I’m sure it’s possible to find someone that also takes care of their items... now, if I was buying something just to see the wear and tear, if I was making videos or was researching it, etc.... Anyway, very helpful and informative information/video!!! :). Anyway do you have a piece that is the leather, with the stamped monogram? (I do not know all of the proper names/terms for it.)
I enjoy watching your videos. I normally buy new and have purchased 1 preloved item from a local luxury consignment store. I traded in my Speedy 30 B for a Neverfull MM Old Style. I had to pay an additional $150 after the trade. I didn’t get a great deal for it but I’m happy that I traded it in for the Neverfull. I love it and wear it more than the Speedy.
Great informative video. Green is a great color on you ! #Question where is your neverfull dam ebene made ? Really wanted a MIF one but impossible to find. #Do you go out of your way to find mif pieces ? I do & it drives me nuts...lol
My Neverfull is made is USA. The MIF ones are very hard to find new but you can find them preloved if you're interested in that route. I haven't really gone out of my way to find the MIF pieces that I have but for some items (like my Speedy 25) I have passed on made in USA ones and waited it out for a MIF. When I got my Turenne in NYC I checked 3 different stores but they were all made in USA. It doesn't bother me much but I do prefer a French bag to be MIF or at least in Europe. That said, I'm hoping to find an item with a TX date code from the new Texas plant (since I'm in Texas).
Loved this video, so much information - thanks it really gave me food for thought. I only have one LV piece (preloved from Japan) and was considering buying another but when I did the price comparison it was only $35 CAD more to purchase new. I have the advantage (because of my work) that I have opportunity to buy in either Canada, USA, UK, Europe or Australia so I've now set up a spreadsheet with the pieces I want, what they cost in each country (including taxes) and prices converted back to a base currency of USD for comparison. This way I can see at a glance when ready to buy where I should buy I can then also check against preloved sites. Yes its a bit involved and detailed but hey I love working with numbers :-). Thanks again for this great video.
I just found out about the preloved market a month ago and I really like it! I got my first LV from a place called A Second Chance Luxury Consignment in NYC its a Speedy 30 $485. I just ordered the vintage Sac Shopping Tote for school for $499 from Fashionphile and a Totally PM bag in Damier Azur for $345. The Totally has alot of wear and color transfer but Im going to clean it up! Im a college student lol. I dont mind wear and tear because Im going to tear it up 😭 I also love the layaway plans on Fashionphile!
Thank you for sharing Autumn! I’m looking to buy my first lv piece, what would you recommend to start with? I think I’d like the alma bb or speedy 25 damier ebene most. I’m also considering the neverfull pm damier ebene. Would love to know your opinion. Best wishes!
I would go with the Speedy 25, personally. The Alma doesn't work for me. I had a non-LV bag shaped like an Alma and found it didn't fit much and the zipper got wonky when you started to fill it. The Neverfull PM could also be a good one, too. I was a Neverfull girl (still am) and thought I'd never want a Speedy...until I got one and now I love it more than the Neverfull. To me, the Speedy feels a little dressier and can be dressed up or down (especially the damier ebene) whereas the Neverfull, being a tote, is always casual. Plus the Speedy has a zipper that keeps your items more secure and keeps them dry in the rain. They're both great bags. You'll be happy with whatever you decide. FYI, I heard yesterday that the Neverfull PM in monogram has been discontinued. I don't know if that's true or if they have any plans to discontinue the ebene...just letting you know.
Great video. I agree with everything. Love your videos. I asked about the champagne in my store. They said that they could not offer it due to the laws of the city. That seemed reasonable to me. :) Great advice about waiting. So hard to do but VERY important.
Do you only collect luxury handbags/wallets/agendas, or do you also collect other luxury like fragrances, clothing, jewelry, or housewares? I’ve started collecting luxury fragrances this past 6 weeks or so, and Id love to know what you gravitate towards as far as fragrances!
Only handbags and SLGs. I don't have any high end jewelry other than a few small Tiffany pieces (silver earrings, a silver ring, a silver charm, and two teacups). I do have a little collection of Waterford crystal (all from TJ Maxx, Marshalls, or the Waterford outlet that used to be in Houston). I don't wear fragrances at all. I've always been sensitive to scents and have never found a perfume that doesn't just smell like chemicals to me.
Can you explain why some preloved LV Speedy Bandouliere Damier Ebene 25 With Strap are selling for 1600 while the retail price is 1430? I don’t understand. Thanks.
Marissa G. I would love to know this myself. I even made the comment on poshmark on someone’s post about why her speedy b 25 was listed at $1,900 & why she was selling it for so much when someone could just buy it new directly from LV for around $1500 w/ tax and her responds was that poshmark charges sellers fees... like whatttt?? 😂 no crap. But as a buyer who in their right mind would spend MORE when they can get it cheaper in the store. Or even people who list it at the same price... like why would anyone buy yours if we can just go directly to LV and get a brand new one?? Boggles my mind.
I list my favorite preloved sites in the description of all my recent videos. A fair price for a Speedy 30 depends on a lot of things. I suggest you search the sites for exactly the bag you want, see what they're going for, and decide what seems fair to you.
Great video! I also really like your earrings :) I am thinking about buying my first Louis Vuitton bag. I found a Nano Noe on Tradesy which I like, but I am not sure whether the site is legit. Have you ever shopped there or know about other people's experiences?
Yes, I've shopped at Tradesy a few times and have had good experiences. You have to be careful there like on Poshmark and ebay because the items come from individual sellers.
Hi Autumn, I am a new Suscriber to your Videos, & I wrote to you today about chains & here I am at 9.30 still watching you, you are so informative. So you are saying you might like to sell your LV Silver Buckle, or Hardware, I would like to know if I can buy yours please Thank You ! 👜👜👜
Did I respond to you about the chains? Did you send me an email or a PM on Instagram? I won't be selling my gold LV key holder any time soon. I'd want to buy a new one first and I don't plan to do that for a while. Can't justify a $300 key chain right now. ;)
Thank you. :) I know what you mean. I used to watch things about how to afford whatever on a budget or hear TV personalities say "anyone can afford this" and I'd know I couldn't. It was disheartening. I don't know your situation but hopefully your budget will swell and you can get your bag sometime in the near future.
Autumn Beckman me too! Lol but best believe, I’ll be showing it when I do!!!! Then put it in a safe....with laser alarm around it.....and will get a warning when you are 5 feet away from it alarm saying “you are too close to me, please get away or my owner will hunt you down and end you”🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣jk jk jk but I’d be babying that thing!
Last two times in store have been bad experiences for me. Both SAs were men and they were not personable at all. I made purchases both times over $2k and was not offered water or anything. They just acted like they wanted me to leave. I still love my pieces but that store leaves a bad taste in my mouth! 😑
Great video. I live in a state that doesn’t have sales tax so it usually makes sense for me to buy new. I live about 90 minutes away from my boutique so I do most of my shopping online. When you have purchase history with LV, Client Services is able to track down hard to find items so that is another reason to buy new. However, I have bought some items preloved because they were retired- the Alma PM Metal Stones, Neverfull Mimosa. Another reason that I would buy preloved is if it’s a bag that I won’t carry often- like my Speedy 30 DA. I was able to save a significant amount of money for a bag in excellent used condition. And from someone who studied French for 14 years, you are pronouncing “Vernis” correctly. The s is silent. I think sometimes people buy a clés or key holder preloved for instant gratification when it’s out of stock. I agree that it’s better to wait or try calling Client Services. Really helpful video- there are good deals on the preloved market and as long as you authenticate, there is nothing to worry about. PayPal protects buyers if an item is not in the condition described or if it’s inauthentic.
Autumn Beckman My husband is from Houston! I’m from CA and moved up to Oregon to care for my terminally ill parents 😢 I was going to go back when they passed but I really like the laidback culture here. And no sales tax is a great perk- especially with high ticket items like vehicles/ appliances. And bags lol
I shouldve gone to nursing school so I could have a job that would allow me to buy luxury handbags 😭 Maybe once the kids leave the nest I'll have extra money for me lol😄
Here is a very savvy tip! If your interested in a bag like a speedy for example, buy one that’s very used but has the canvas in great condition, and have the leather replaced. Personally I shop a lot secondhand (sucker for everything 90s & Y2K) but also in store because certain styles are just to new to buy them pre-loved.
When I bought my 6 key holder I looked at the pre-loved first and your right about just paying the $50 more for new
Thank you. :)
Best part of this video at around 1:20 ....
Autumn: ...brand new it was $2500...
Vincent in the background: *whistle*
I agree, Vincent! 🙃🙃🙃
That's a nice goal! They've really cracked down on selling luggage tags in the States. I've heard it's the same in Ireland and Australia, too.

Good to know. My store does serve it (I've seen many people walking around with champagne). I'll have to ask next time I make a purchase.
those earrings are everything
Thank you. :) I resisted the tassel earring trend but couldn't help myself with those.
Good recs on all the preloved items. Totally agree with the cles and zippy coin especially. Those are always running close to retail, buy new. Hi, I confirm, you pronounce well vernis. I'm french. Cheers.
Thank you.

I just bought a LV Speedy 25 off of Poshmark!! I think it was a good buy. Not sure how to post a pic .
I love the Chapman Brothers collection too! I would kill for a Chapman Brothers pocket organizer. Can't find a good price on one.
For a collection that so many people claim to hate, it sure is in high demand!

Thank you for the video! I love LV 💕 and have purchased several used bags. You’re tips are always so helpful! Keep up the good work 😊
i think this is the best video you made so far :D loved it x

I've never seen it but okay. ;)
I’ve enjoyed your video very much. The information you gave us is so helpful when buying pre loved items. 🌸💕

Hi, I mentioned my purchase was an anniversary gift and the CA brought out champagne 🥂, but my previous CA didn’t even offer water. 😳
I'm considering getting a mon mono piece for my birthday later this year. They'd better bring out the champagne for that!

I'm happy you ended up with a bag you love. :)
Does your date code on your Neverfull match the pouch. Mine doesn’t but I bought it new so I figured that’s how it is.
No, it doesn't. They were made a week apart.
Great video! Really liked those tips you shared! 😊😊
Thank you. :)
Greetings from Austin! Great video and tips!!! TFS
Greetings neighbor! Thank you. :)
Thank you Autumn for the great tips. Very helpful 👍❤️
Thank you. :)
Good luck on Texas ! Would be cool 4 u !
I love spreadsheets. :)
Thank you for this, especially spending the extra $$$$$ for new.
Where can I look for preloved items? Tks
In any of my more recent videos you'll find a list in the description box of all my favorite preloved luxury resellers. :)
Adriαnα go with a speedy. I know you are not asking my opinion but heck I will give it. :) watch Autumn reviews they are great!
Kerry Stevenson thank you I appreciate your advice!
Kay Huddleston thank you I’ll look into the 30! I appreciate your opinion.
Autumn Beckman thank you for responding! Looks like speedy b is a winner for most ppl. I think she’ll be the one for me ❤️
Great video. I agree with everything. Love your videos. I asked about the champagne in my store. They said that they could not offer it due to the laws of the city. That seemed reasonable to me. :) Great advice about waiting. So hard to do but VERY important.
That's interesting to know. I've seen it served to others at my store many times so I'll be asking for it next time I make a purchase. :)
With your experience, what resale companies are the best? I have been researching the Speedy 30,also what is a fair price for this item?
I list my favorite preloved sites in the description of all my recent videos. A fair price for a Speedy 30 depends on a lot of things. I suggest you search the sites for exactly the bag you want, see what they're going for, and decide what seems fair to you.
Great video! Thanks for all the useful tips! :)
Thank you. :)
I learn so much from you!😃
Please update us on the champagne 🍾 please
I haven't made a purchase yet and don't have any planned for a while.
You said vernis correctly. He was being an idiot, or he didn't understand French. Thanks for a very informative video.
Thank you. :)
Good to know! Thanks
Can't justify a $300 key chain right now. ;)
I love your channel Autumn3
Thank you. :)
My budget doesn’t allow me to get LV bags but good to know when I’m able to tfs!!!
Then put it in a safe....with laser alarm around it.....and will get a warning when you are 5 feet away from it alarm saying “you are too close to me, please get away or my owner will hunt you down and end you”🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣jk jk jk but I’d be babying that thing!
can you recommend some site or botique to buy preloved louis vuitton? from denver colorado here thanks
Check out my latest video about The Real Real. It just went up. Also, in the description I list all of my favorite preloved luxury websites.
great video
I have asked for champagne when making purchases and have been given it without issue 😛 #noshame
I'm doing that next time!
Great video!😀
No sales tax!?! I need to move to your state. Texas doesn't have state tax, though, so that's nice.
Uggh. I hate the real real photos 😭
I shouldve gone to nursing school so I could have a job that would allow me to buy luxury handbags 😭
Maybe once the kids leave the nest I'll have extra money for me lol😄
:)
It's because we don't say "verniy" but only "verni" ☺️
Yes to everything👍
Thank you. :)
Funny enough! I’ve never liked luggage tags and can’t see the appeal.
Go figure!
