For anyone wondering about the plot, I think I figured it out... It's just a casual game of Control Points, with RED, made completely of douchebags, is pushed to last CP. The Pyro is so busy defending against the large amount of BLU's pushing, he pays no attention to the F2P Spy, who captures the point trying to figure out how to disguise. RED team, who thinks it's all Pyro's fault, fires him because of "his" incompetence. Pyro goes on a job-hunting spree, but eventually gets fired for stuff he really can't help. Finally, the Boss Heavy decides to take over the world with his money and robots, allowing Pyro and Demo to get their old jobs back. The Pyro attacks the Heavy's HQ, blowing it up and saving the day. He then gathers both BLU and RED to join the TF2 version of the Justice League. Hope it helped.
You missed the part where after Pyro lost his job, the Rest of the Red Team quickly followed. Demoman is implied to have lost his job shortly after the Pyro, since he's clearly close friends with Pyro and is roommates, followed by the Scout, who works fast food, the Engie, who builds a successful Shipping business, Sniper, who turns to fishing and maybe even Bushhunting, but apparently defected to BLU shortly before he was fired by Boss heavy, and the Soldier is uncertain, since he only turns up near the end as one of the rebels.
@@za_crispy bcs in the WAR! comic it is canon that RED Demo and BLU Soldier are best friends, but they just pretend to hate each other since administrator knew about this and gave them a deal and new weapons (Direct hit & Eyelander) to kill each other otherwise they'll get their consequences
This was animated great, but i had a lot of trouble following the story. I'm pretty sure i got the gist of it though. Pyro was fired, he applied for a bunch of different jobs, failed at them, and when he was needed again, got his old job back... or took the place of his old boss. I'm not too sure, but i did like the animation, it was a lot like a cartoon. I especially liked the part when hes fighting the Heavy at the end, and he gets thrown across the room. And that Sniper VS Shark running gag was pretty funny.
2:53 that should be a taunt Also the easiest job a pyro can get is helping a engineer defend its buildings we need more engineer mains for jobless pyros *MORE ENGINEERS*
I... honestly understood most of the story at the first watch... I think. Pyro's fighting abilities weren't so good, therefore he began doing menial things instead. However, he screwed up, and thus got fired. Jobless, he tries to find other jobs (with demoman that is also jobless). He worked at a moving company, became a fisherman, and became a sort of "restaurant assistant". He fails at all the jobs. Heavy starts a robot revolution (apparently xD), putting pyro and demoman back to work. They go on a mission to stop Heavy. Pyro successfully defeats Heavy, and becomes the head of "The World's Bastion" (Bastion = Fortification).
He was also chased by Engineer when he failed working at the moving company, he ran into the jungle to escape, falling into the BLU sniper's boat, then became a fisherman.
Everything happens a bit too fast, the animation is perfect, but you need to give more time to explain what's actually going on rather than shoving us to the situation :/
Killstreaker Scout Well then he should probably do something with a bit less story. I completely agree that the pacing of this was a bit ridiculous. I didn't follow what was happening at all.
Very nice entry for the Saxxy awards for 2013. First thing off the bat is a good story here, and this one does it. It's fairly simple with a variety of scenes but it works well. Needless to say it kept me hooked from the intro and carried to the end. The animation is interesting as well, with expressive and somewhat cartoony animation style to a more realistic approach. Same goes with the comedic gags that were cartoony or more realistic. It's a good SFM video in 5 minutes with lots of variety in it.
I know I am /extremely/ late, but I see huge potential in this and want to help see this improved. This was /extremely/ rushed and way too fast paced to make a decent plot, which I think you were going for but had to rush it into the five minute time limit. I'd like to see this great animation again but perhaps longer or content cut out so it could be more slow paced and have a nice story I could follow along. Perhaps if you cut /some/ of the content out you can turn it into a action piece for the next saxxy. Because there were some frankly hilarious and awesome moments with great animation, you just need to make it paced a bit so we understand what's going on. Tips: -Try making foreshadowing that the Heavy is going to be an antagonist, not obvious but just subtle, or make it known he would become a CEO, maybe he could be the reason Blu one for the first time. -It's hard to tell that the heavy that was fighting in the first part is also the CEO heavy, perhaps make that more clear, with a bit more screen time showing why and what he does because he disliked Pyro and it would go along way. -Never, go from a time skip, to a time rewind. That is /extremely/ confusing. If you go with the five minute still, get rid of the fired scene and just make it straight to what he does to get fired. If longer, try showing a history of screw ups before he gets fired, so it's a bit clearer. I understood it but others might not. -Focus on the bugs before he goes to flame it, at first I thought Pyro was just freaking out for no reason, annnnd that kinda makes him look like an idiot as a first impression. Not a good first impression. -Make the cloud form as Pyro is walking, or at the least make him look at it, shake a fist? Anything so we aren't confused as to why he just pulled out a sign and smacked thin air. I didn't even notice the cloud or that anything was bothering him. (the delivery though, priceless.) -Animation and story wise made sense and was good. Good job. -Engineer scene, could be shortened to make more time for edits to make the pace better. But otherwise perfect and pretty funny. -Sniper fishing scene. Hilarious, and definitely worth keeping with it's segway into the next scene involving the diner. -Perhaps cut the guitar parts and leave Pyro cooking, and failing. That sniper vs shark scene is also pretty funny, good work there. -Spy is verrry random. Though adding anything would be a huge time sink so skip this. -A single scene of Heavy hearing the announcer saying alert or something while in his office after Pyro defeats the spy, then moving to the scene of him tackling Pyro after the scene with the others fighting robo heavys would make that much smoother. -Fighting animations are amazing, and the use of the grenade, but moving off panel so you don't have to work with SFM's explosions is creative. I like this, would like to see more. Plz. -Have pyro smack a sentry that he lands by or something before it shoots heavy, and maybe instead of hands grabbing the bomb then it exploding, perhaps just have it ride up the elevator, then have Pyro hit a button on the bomb. Would make a bit more sense to me, buuut the bomb part isn't important. Again the scene where Heavy is fighting, especially that throw was great. -This last scene /really/ irks me. The animation was good, but it was /very/ hard to understand, from them defeating heavy to them in a building going to fight monsters was just, way to quick of a transition without any kind of hint, or explanation of their intentions before suddenly office with monsters in the background. Work on the last ten seconds, an ending /seriously/ impacts someones view of a piece. Overall, this seems like a, and I am going to be honest here, action/humor mixture, probably in an attempt to enter both the humor and Action categories for Saxxy. The issue is that with this style of comedy pacing, it's unable to be taken seriously as an action short, (which aren't that serious in the first place). Thus leaving this as, a lackluster comedy entry with a story that tries too hard. Try focusing on the action, as that could make this a /amazing/ saxxy entry even by today's standards, considering how well the animation is made, which I will say again, is /great/. Good job, and I hope to see more sometime.

OH, YOU'RE TOO KIND. BUT REALLY, I THINK YOUR'S IS MUCH BETTER. I'M NOT VERY GOOD AT ANIMATING, TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH. YOU SEEM TO HAVE A PRETTY GOOD GRASP ON IT THOUGH.
This is a really good movie and was very entertaining, but the pacing was too fast and it needed some shots cut and longer/more establishing shots for the scene changes. Even though it established the main character personalities very well, I actually think the beginning part from 0:02 to 0:19 confused things for me, because if the opening of a Saxxy film pretty much resembles regular TF2 gameplay, it makes me assume that it takes place in something resembling TF2 canon. So I was confused when after that, the film seemed to establish a highly altered setting. Pyro was working for a Heavy executive (instead of working for Mann Co.), the REDs and BLUs never fought each other again after those first 20 seconds, mini sentries shot lasers that move crates instead of shooting bullets and etc. I had to undo my original assumptions while processing the story. I liked it a lot, but it could be polished a bit more for storytelling.
the mercs on red got fired because after that first 20 seconds when the red got their first loss, it starting a year long losing streak ending with the Blue team winning the war and the red team all getting fired. the red team then proceeds to look for work, however all the business is owned by the former blue team. the main one being heavy. when heavy tries to take over the world with his robot army, Pyro finally realizes he's only good at destroying things, so, he decides to destroy the heavies army, and save the world. afterward, he basically becomes the "Captain America of TF2" and leads the avengers.
Ramseas119 when i say blue team owns all the business, i meant thy dominate most business, and if you notice, when heavy launches his robot army, the engineer is caught completely off guard and (i believe) is killed by the robots.
Ramseas119 and as for other blue members helping fight against heavy in the end, they didn't actually work with him, and his taking over the world would obviously not be good for their businesses either...all my own personal prefrences
The reason for that is he probably had to cut a lot in order to meet the time limit. All Saxxy entries have to be less than 5 minutes long, and he barely made it with 4:59. This is really good, but it was a bit too ambitious for the Saxxy's.
This is a really good entry. It should have got nominated or won 1 section. Very fluent animations and a great story. I especially liked the heavy fight, it was really nicely animated and epic overall.
You take something that only speaks in muffled grunts and actually give them character, that, I think, is what made this so fun to watch. Also the humor and the animation in it, but also how you kinda crafted Pyro.
This is basically job hunting after being fired. Don't get why people don't understand it. Red vrs. Blu in the main scene is basically regular team fortress. After that, mostly just trying to find an everyday job. As for the sentry not shooting bullets and moving things, it makes sense the engineer could repurpose his sentry to do other things, since he's smart and all.
Awesome! Here are some tips: sometimes it goes to the next scent too quickly and it is a little confusing. I would also add some music and more audio lines. Other than that, the animation and visuals are perfect!
It was kinda sad and funny to see pyro try something else but the ending with the world bastion protectors? That was a good ending Loved the video dude!
I have been looking for that scene, where sniper takes on a giant shark, for no less than 5 years. 5 years to see that badass fisherman again. Absolutely totally worth it.
OK, it is a tad too fast paced. I missed quite a few things. However, the animation is excellent. I especially like the fight between Pyro and Heavy. This looks like a great Saxxy contender.
I'm gonna guess the story line, since I guess it fits in with the comic lore. Red team had there first loss to blu team ever (even worse to a f2p spy) and since Pyro had a grizzled veteran badge felt like it was a bad thing. (I mean if I won 99999 and then just lost I'd be sad/pissed) So he put the badge up. A year later he was fired for setting a bug aflame and the fire accidentally fucked with Heavy's toilet paper while he was shitting. (Which he still has flash backs about) Pyro then goes on a job hunting adventure and just finds jobs from helping engie move to helping sniper settle a score with a shark. Soon after that blu Heavy sends out robots to steal money(?) and demo basicly tells Pyro to suit up and destroy there business with a bomb. Instead of destroying it Pyro takes it over and ends up being the CEO (Which comes into play with the comics), and with his Golden Grizzled badge, he rains down on his foes with power and a detonator. I just felt like clearing this up for some people if they gotten confused, I am NOT Callegos, I just felt that I might have understood the whole thing. Also, This has my vote!
Damn the animation is on point. Yeah the pacing is really iffy but there's definitely not enough credit given for this. Love the scenes, even if I didn't love the transitions. Not to mention the extras such as the neon annihilator, spy playing for money, sniper shark brawl. Must have taken ages.
The pacing was a little too fast to follow sometimes but the animation was very well done and your use of props and characters was very imaginitive. Well done!
It's funny that... Most people choose the winning team, and they win a total of times because of a few players dominating. But when someone with game experience jumps in the opposite team and wins, the dominators rage quit after 1 loss xD
It's like that in so many games, planetside 2 is like a game in constant play, people (at least in NC) don't seem to like a fight unless it's one-sided( in their favor), otherwise they camp in spawn or run to another location.
It was really good, but it felt a little rushed. You could make some screens longer to give it a more polished feel. But other than that, this is a really great animation, keep up the good work!
I'm guessing this was submitted to Comedy as well as Action, and I was disappointed that Meet the Workshop was nominated over this one. I don't know how it got there since the animation was no where on par with any of the other entries. I'm sorry for your loss.
Invisible walls. The bane of any adventure game's existence. And things you have to wait a long time for. Along with a lot of other crap. Oh, and poor Pyro. He's to adorable for the world.
This is definitely fantastic, even though it is a year old. Besides, it is my first time watching it. For a 5 minute short, it was truly remarkable. I admire the fluidity of the animations the most.
Definitely well made, and I realized that there's a time constraint, but the story seemed a bit rushed and unclear. But nonetheless, a great entry! Just some constructive criticism!
What did i think. Well here is a recap: 0:01 Ordinary game of tf2 0:40 Why does he look at his badge 0:43 Why one year later and why did he get fired at THAT time. 0:49 Why is he cleaning 1 hour after he got fired 0:53 Why did he want to explode the vent. He could of just seen what it was. 1:05 He got fired after he got fired 1 hour before his old job.. wat 1:18 Why did he just suddenly have the idea of ripping of a sign and then getting electrecuted 1:23 How did the explosion get him there. 1:29 Why is demoman there and why is he eating all that. 1:58 Why Engi just give him the remote without telling him what to do 2:08 Seagulls appeared out of no where 2:20 Why is he in a jungle now?! 2:24 Why is there an invisible wall. Why did he land in the boat and go fishing. 2:33 Why did sniper play the guitar and why did he throw the guitar in the water 2:39 Why is the a massive shark 3:08 Why is there a shark on a teleporter 3:38 Where are they 3:45 Why are they pushing the bomb 3:55 Where did he come from 4:01 Why does the exit to the safe lead to a cliff 4:03 Where did he land and where the hell did that piano come from 4:08 What is he trying to hack 4:21 How did he survive that 4:37 Why did he land exactly land on him. The spy jumped outside from the door not the window There was a reason that this diddnt win the saxxy.
And the adventures of Sniper-Getting-Chased-By-A-Shark continue in the next episode.

the mercs on red got fired because after that first 20 seconds when the red got their first loss, it starting a year long losing streak ending with the Blue team winning the war and the red team all getting fired. the red team then proceeds to look for work, however all the business is owned by the former blue team. the main one being heavy. when heavy tries to take over the world with his robot army, Pyro finally realizes he's only good at destroying things, so, he decides to destroy the heavies army, and save the world. afterward, he basically becomes the "Captain America of TF2" and leads the avengers.
Dat BLU sniper, a true badass.
this deserves a nomination atleast
THIS IS AMAZING
This is a really good entry. It should have got nominated or won 1 section. Very fluent animations and a great story. I especially liked the heavy fight, it was really nicely animated and epic overall.
This was all so fast, felt like I was on drugs or something.
2:47 I'm making this a wallpaper.
Link?
@@dare4326 Oh, I don't think I actually did it, that was five years ago.
Bruh y'all still here???
XDDDD
The Sniper bits dude, they cracked me up so bad my sides are still hurtin' XD
Awesome vid mang :P
I couldn't really tell what was going on. I mean, I got the idea. But it was all too fast and didn't give much story for me to swallow up.
I am agree with you. But animation is great
I approve and not just because I contributed at the last moment.
this sparked the heavy vs pyro update
You take something that only speaks in muffled grunts and actually give them character, that, I think, is what made this so fun to watch.
Also the humor and the animation in it, but also how you kinda crafted Pyro.
the sniper and the shark XD
Piss
Off
Sniper Acab !
HE'S LEFT HANDED. THE DEMOMAN IS LEFT HANDED. I LOVE YOU.
I hate being the only lefty in the office.
Snipers fucking crazy going after the shark every time XD
This is basically job hunting after being fired. Don't get why people don't understand it. Red vrs. Blu in the main scene is basically regular team fortress. After that, mostly just trying to find an everyday job.
As for the sentry not shooting bullets and moving things, it makes sense the engineer could repurpose his sentry to do other things, since he's smart and all.
The fact that you managed to bounce on the shark gag twice is fucking amazing.
And you made it work perfectly!
I feel the animation and pacing is a bit skittish at the beginning, but this was very entertaining, and I wish you the best at the saxxies.
I don't know how the hell this didn't make nominations. Good Job is easily the best overall video in the lot.
Dem feels. Shark scenes were best scenes, though.
mah god, will you ever cease to amaze?
you are probably my favorite SFM artist.
Good job good sir, good job.
The animation is so well made
Awesome! Here are some tips: sometimes it goes to the next scent too quickly and it is a little confusing. I would also add some music and more audio lines. Other than that, the animation and visuals are perfect!
I'm disappointed this was snubbed from the nominees. >:T But regardless, I do hope you'll continue making us laugh with more of your films. :)
not the most realistic animation I've seen in SFM, but certainly the best
It was kinda sad and funny to see pyro try something else but the ending with the world bastion protectors? That was a good ending
Loved the video dude!
I have been looking for that scene, where sniper takes on a giant shark, for no less than 5 years.
5 years to see that badass fisherman again.
Absolutely totally worth it.
This should have won.
I love this guys style, this is truly what all SFM creators should use!
4:07 randomizer in a nutshell
The pacing was a little too fast to follow sometimes but the animation was very well done and your use of props and characters was very imaginitive. Well done!
99999 TO 1
1 is a very little mistake ,right? FIRED
Servers filled with douchebags in a nutshell.
It said one year later so i am assuming that "1" made him upset so it just kept getting worse until he got fired.
The burning you feel?
*IT IS SHAME*
I hope scouts can be friendly like 4:07
I think blu and red scouts are twins since the scout have so many brothers
It's funny that...
Most people choose the winning team, and they win a total of times because of a few players dominating. But when someone with game experience jumps in the opposite team and wins, the dominators rage quit after 1 loss xD
It's like that in so many games, planetside 2 is like a game in constant play, people (at least in NC) don't seem to like a fight unless it's one-sided( in their favor), otherwise they camp in spawn or run to another location.
Animation is smooth which is awesome, but it's a little too fast as the scenes really do fly by without giving the viewer enough time to process them.
I agree.
It was really good, but it felt a little rushed. You could make some screens longer to give it a more polished feel. But other than that, this is a really great animation, keep up the good work!
what a fantastic film, and lovely constructive criticism; length and time was all that was needed to complete this lovely story
wow...that was awesome, my new favorite SFM film of this style, great work man!
That sniper is so Australian it's almost unbearable.
WHOA?! THIS DIDN'T GOT AT LEAST NOMINATED? WTF VALVE?
I'm guessing this was submitted to Comedy as well as Action, and I was disappointed that Meet the Workshop was nominated over this one. I don't know how it got there since the animation was no where on par with any of the other entries. I'm sorry for your loss.
Invisible walls. The bane of any adventure game's existence. And things you have to wait a long time for. Along with a lot of other crap. Oh, and poor Pyro. He's to adorable for the world.
ah man... great times.
Animation was good, but I found it extremely hard to follow. It just felt like cuts were random and the story wasn't very cohesive.
Eh, maybe Valve might end up pulling a trick, and make this win "Best Overall", just like what they did with Story of a Sentry...
Is there a full version? This looks like sped up a bit. Are there removed scenes or something?
If there is any more things you can do with the plot I would love, absolutely love a sequel!
This is definitely fantastic, even though it is a year old. Besides, it is my first time watching it. For a 5 minute short, it was truly remarkable. I admire the fluidity of the animations the most.
I love the sniper in this.
Definitely well made, and I realized that there's a time constraint, but the story seemed a bit rushed and unclear. But nonetheless, a great entry! Just some constructive criticism!
What did i think. Well here is a recap:
0:01 Ordinary game of tf2
0:40 Why does he look at his badge
0:43 Why one year later and why did he get fired at THAT time.
0:49 Why is he cleaning 1 hour after he got fired
0:53 Why did he want to explode the vent. He could of just seen what it was.
1:05 He got fired after he got fired 1 hour before his old job.. wat
1:18 Why did he just suddenly have the idea of ripping of a sign and then getting electrecuted
1:23 How did the explosion get him there.
1:29 Why is demoman there and why is he eating all that.
1:58 Why Engi just give him the remote without telling him what to do
2:08 Seagulls appeared out of no where
2:20 Why is he in a jungle now?!
2:24 Why is there an invisible wall. Why did he land in the boat and go fishing.
2:33 Why did sniper play the guitar and why did he throw the guitar in the water
2:39 Why is the a massive shark
3:08 Why is there a shark on a teleporter
3:38 Where are they
3:45 Why are they pushing the bomb
3:55 Where did he come from
4:01 Why does the exit to the safe lead to a cliff
4:03 Where did he land and where the hell did that piano come from
4:08 What is he trying to hack
4:21 How did he survive that
4:37 Why did he land exactly land on him. The spy jumped outside from the door not the window
There was a reason that this diddnt win the saxxy.
Why not?
Are you blind? He was fired because he tried to kill some bugs in a vent by exploding it. Then he got fired, not the other way around dummy.
I also got a question. Why cant you shut up
You must be real fun at parties.
If you still have any friends left.
Why did you waste your time writing this?
That Blu Sniper is the most Australian New Zealander ever.
The most fast-action paced video I have ever seen. I like it.
when corona virus starts, ppl be like: 0:59
