And by the way, me and my pals would love to ride in one of these when we surround fields in late summer being harvested: wheat and other grains in August and Maize in later fall! This truck is perfect for WILD BOAR hunts when the combines start through the fields......

    My dad's truck was a 1972. I don't remember the model #. It was only rwd, 5 speed, 33k lbs gvw and it had an air vent that would pop open from the ceiling and vent windows in front of the roll down window. It was an American version in mph and it also had a turbo. The 2nd engine died almost the same time that my dad stopped driving truck. That truck was in service for about 35 years until the company got rid of it. Miss that truck.

    Would it be worthwhile contacting companies that sell heavy duty off-road shock absorbers ? I would be willing to bet that mounting shocks where no such mounting existed would be something that they are familiar with.
    The guys that build monster trucks do this sort of thing all the time. With multiple shock mountings,like 12 per vehicle,3 per side. That extreme would not be needed here,just an example.
    No idea how much such a project would cost,it would require fabrication,welding ,disassembly, experimentation,but the ride difference would be considerable.
    Interesting old truck. Mercedes knew how to build simple and strong as well as complicated.

    • @flemmingfromdenmark6907
      @flemmingfromdenmark6907  ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like a cool monster truck, however here un Denmark, there's so many rules and regulations that makes such a project impossible. The reason for the lack of rear shock absorbers on this model not mercedes were due to the ability go off road. The frame would twist quite a lot, it has also been tested to be so😅
      These were not build for comfort, but for practicality, and they do work off road...

    • @flemmingfromdenmark6907
      @flemmingfromdenmark6907  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Det er også korrekt. Men alle lastvognene blev bestilt til forsvaret, og fordelt derfra.
      Den du ser her, har både været en tur forbi søværnet, civilforsvaret, beredskabsstyrelsen, og til sidste tid i Aalborg beredskab.
      Militæret spænder jo bredt, fra hæren, søværnet, flyvevåbnet og hjemmeværnet (cf dengang)
      Farverne skiftede også fra koksgrå til blå til orange gullig.
      Men korrekt CF står for civile forsvaret.
      Ofte overdrages også udtjente køretøjer til CF, da der er løbende udskiftning af materiel. Ofte sælges materiellet via auktioner, hvor du og jeg så har mulighed for at byde ind.
      Den her stod ved en irakisk skrothandler i Hammel, og havde planlagt den skulle sendes til Irak, det syntes jeg så ikke den skulle, og korte forhandlinger senere, var den på vej hjem til min gårdsplads.
      Lang historie, det må du undskylde. 👍😅😅

      The LA328, was one of the first stubnose trucks that came after the 312. Same frame, same in a lot of ways, but using stubnose design, ment longe bed, higher view.
      The first came with the same engine as the 312, but the 911, had a newer engine and turbocharged. Even the braking system had an upgrade.

      Sad really... it would be easier to change out the engine, than making a entire new car, but in reality it is probably cheaper to build a complete new car.
      One of the major reasons why cars rust so severe l, is due to the reuse of iron. Cars today are made of less and less pure iron. Old school cars used sheet metal around 2 mm thick, now it is barely 1mm.
