I know what you are saying, but I do agree with Tech Consultant. The LCD it doesn't feel too much of the lesser console besides the OLED , even with the upgrades, unlike the 'normal' ROG Ally vs Extreme. Between those there is a major performance issue (see the CU count). Yeah, the new one has 90 hz, but that's not going to help at al if you play big titles, even 60 is hard for some games let alone 90 fps. A better battery is good for those that spend more time on the go (do a lot of train travel or need to daily comute to work/school long-ish distances by metro/bus/etc. If you just need a couple of hours to burn, the LCD is good enough. Also in my country, Romania (Eastern Europe) the Steam shows a price of 369 € for the 64 Gb new. I don't know fi that is the correct shipping price for my country, but I can find the 64 variant used with some warranty stil left for only 27-300 €. Sometimes at 300 € even new sealed with full warranty.
The oled is the same price as the lcd, can't compare to an upgraded edition because it's never been marketed as such. Wait until the deck 2 is out to compare
@rocknflip66 this the reason made me can't buy sd oled it's remembered me off old samsung android oled like note and s3 HDR oled was actually cheaper than any new oled by samsung and lg and I was used in 2009-2015 , even if they used super oled the test will be different on pc hand because phones less power and overheat
Before I say anything, no matter which version you have you're still apart of the Steam Deck family and thats what matters! We buy it because we love the handheld experience! Now, one point I do have to make about the Oled eventho it is a good upgrade they did on the battery, screen, heating system etc.. is that OLED is way more likely to burn in with time. This could also happen via outside light shades on the screen, but extensive usage will ultimately start putting blue and yellow ish points all over your screen. It is a nice and vibrant technology, even using less power, but i do sadly have to say that OLED screens are less sustainable after time then LCDs are. If you wish to keep the console for a long shot, I recommend getting the LCD due to the screen being a heavy replacement hitter on the OLED. It is more expensive and all that. Anyways, I have my LCD ready to game all day any day baby, and I love this thing! I'm glad to be apart of this amazing community, so let's not make a race about it but enjoy it together! Once the Steam Deck 2 comes out (which is not soon at all), we can talk about upgrading then fellas:)
i thought it would have actual advantages of the lcd over the oled, but there was only one thing: price. everything else listed also applies to the oled. saying that, i'm still very happy with my lcd version and would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get a deck at the lower prices.
yea the lcd version is great, same with the oled if you can afford it. but if you cant justify the extra price the lcd model is great too the biggest issue with the lcd version is well, the screen that only covers 70% of the srgb colour space but i mean if you are okay with colours looking a bit washed out its fine. plus you can use filters in steamos 3.5 to make the colours look significantly better even if the screen isnt displaying them correctly.
@@randomgamingin144p I got my LCD model about a week ago and I have no complaints with it so far! Yeah, I'm sure the OLED screen looks better, but the LCD screen seems just fine to me. For $399 I ain't complaining....especially when you look at the prices that just about any other company's handheld gaming thing is going for now!
Battery, OLED, fan , that's the difference between those two, Go for LCD Man then dock to your 4k OLED TV so you have a better display, the performance was the same 🎉
the oled def seems like an upgrade, went with the lcd anyways since its now a fraction of the price n theres currently more support/accessories for it from what ive seen. main thing that got me was that i could switch the shell to pink, doesnt look like thats really a thing for the oleds yet. maybe in a few months itd be more worth it to go for the oled, less hype makes the price lower a lil, plus id be able to do the shell swap lol
Worst kind of videos, click bait title, borrowed footage, scripted talk and most importantly content has nothing to do with title. There's a special place in hell for channels like that.
I bought the 1TB OLED for $600 along with a glass screen protector, a heavy duty carrying case, a beautiful galaxy skin, an external battery pack, 1 TB SSD card, an external cooling fan, a dock with 100 watt charging power and threaded cable, Resident Evil 4 remake, Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Halo MCC, RDR2, and a bunch of indie games
Oled always starts out better but most will end up with blue saturation issues making the screen yellow overtime and the organic materials will slowly decay over time leading to pixel death if I am paying over $500 for something the screen should last a while not just a few years
With modern tvs I agree it might take 10 years but most portable OLED screens in phones after about a year of normal use white is going to start looking yellowish compared to LCD but maybe valve sourced OLED screens that are better than the ones they put in phones idk but I still don't want to risk it but the slightly better performance might make me take a chance on it idk yet
pixels tend to die faster on oled displays than standard led lcd thats the one thing they always leave out and that better color doesnt always last because some oled screens yellow over time too plus i dont know about other people but most oled screens give me a headache if i look at them for more than a few minutes
The only reason I would buy the OLED steam deck is because my LCD screen is burning. Not pixel burn, actually burning. Not with fire but it looks like it's melting from a certain component inside and makes white blotches covered by red and purple pixels in a pretty cool looking pattern
I've heard the LCD is easier to install and repair than the oled if thats even true? For me i dont need a fancier screen and wont make a huge difference anyways with the wifi speed and ram etc price though is a win for a snag
Fail video, the only thing going for the LCD over the OLED is if you can't afford the latter. I've owned both and there's no reason to go back, hell even your LCD SSD drops straight in so you can be up and running quikcly. I also like how the video uses a lot of OLED footage...
The video is about to select steam deck rather than it's competitors. LCD is no better than the OLED and for the price difference, everyone should go for the OLED. Period.
Regretted my OLED purchase. The PWM is unbearable for me I could not play in handheld for more than 10 minutes. Might downgrade to the Lite but I'll miss the docking experience. I should have kept my LCD Switch!
I get this video and justifying not upgrading to an OLED but my man, literally everything you said applies to an OLED and it’s a much better experience on there lol. LCD is a great option don’t get me wrong but clickbaiting with this title and giving us basic information is kinda weak man 😂
IS it AI voiced or I am crazy after dozen of pointless channels? I hate AI age of internet. The entry threshold was lowered, so everything is spammed with pointless BS. We are in the age of the MGS:2 plot point. This title is pointless for this video..., coz the only presented answer to this question is "cheaper".... No surprise coz it cost less. There are some pros to using /having LCD, but not always worth lossing OLED.
At work several want handheld systems but the first question they all ask is; Can it run Game Pass and games not on Steam. Three have already bought the Rog Ally because of this. I have both and I am deciding which to keep. Gta 5 just seems better on the Ally at 120hz 1080p. It is so smooth and I don't feel the need for an oled screen. it looks amazing. I am probably sticking with the Ally. If you have an Ally check out the Skull & Co. case, its like a Steam deck case for the Ally.
I'm mad I even clicked on this video. The price is better on the LCD and literally nothing else. There are zero other reasons why the "LCD is better." Save up a bit of extra cash and get the OLED.
took me a while to realize this was an ai voice and im actually upset lol
Nooooo!
Is it AI or text to speech?
are you sure ? sounds legit, how can you tell and do you know what AI voice software is used ?
Right but all these things are better on the oled version. Battery, screen, color, controls, framerate.

But it’s like double the price
What's double the price?
Its actually 349$ for the 64gb model until they run out completely super deal
I paid €290 for a 512 gb display unit. Yeah, it feels like theft.
thats what you get from an AI channel.
Theyre sold out
@@scrappyanimations4096 oh wow 😳😳 I just bought another one last week I may have gotten the last one 😔
It's better because it's cheaper now and I only had the money for this old entry model anyway. 😂
OLED may looks great, but the ‘burn in’ issues will happen over time

Still fantastic isn't it!?
Compared to the switch oled this is a steal. With the same memory only a little more to pay. And change memory later. Easy.

One hundred percent, love my LCD deck but if that does happen to your OLED then it's super easy to replace it with Valve customer support.
Perfecto 👍🏿👌🏿
I believe Wulff Den made a video testing the burn in, and from what I remember, you supposedly shouldn't worry about it.
Old? This came out in 2022. The Switch is old, Steam Deck is not.
True

I recently became father, not getting my time on pc, which version should I go for LCD or OLED. I'm a little tight on budget too.

LCD because you stated the term “budget”.

Bought an LCD and swapped the out the SSD for 1 TB. No complaints so far

Keep your money is better than oled screen
The oled screen has really bad strobing and burns in easily. Not worth it at all when you can buy the 64gb og for only $349.
I still to this day have not seen a single person report burn in on their oled deck
@@ScrubsWasTaken anecdotal evidence cannot be applied in this context; OLED’s are still at risk of burn-in’s because they utilize organic compounds
Got me the steam deck lcd for 370€.
Gonna stick with it untill deck 2 comes out.
