hey! great video man. dont know if you still work on this kind of projects. But i have a question, for a while i have been doing fotograpy of fish, in particular koi carps. And those foto's are always taken from the top, so I was thinking if I take photo's from all sides maybe i can make a 3D model of the fish. Would this be possible? I would love too hear back from you
Hey sorry for the late reply, youtube flagged this comment for some reason. its really hard to generate 3d scans of animals especially if they are moving so unless you have a fish that isnt moving and that you can take pictures from all angles, this method isnt going to work. Best thing I can offer you is something like in this video (th-cam.com/video/58lc8sLpJzY/w-d-xo.html) where you are essentially modelling it yourself using the picture as a guide and as a texture. Hope this helps!
I'm currently in the process of making a video about vfx education, but in most places collages and universities will offer a visual effects course. The best ones are the ones offered in studios though so something like escape studios is a good place to look depending on what you want to do
Hello, I have a rather urgent question. I performed a "low" quality treatment (cloud, alignment...etc). If I want to switch to "high" quality, is there a way to reuse the work done in low quality to reduce the working time or do I have to redo everything from the beginning in high quality? Thanks.
Hi Alex, and thank you for this awesome video! I am curious as to your process of taking images of the grave, specifically, how you take detailed shots / close ups, without leaving the entire object in frame. For reference, I am working on a project that involves a very large object, that will need to be photographed in increments , similar to the way you have done in this video. However, I can't find many videos or tutorials explaining that process. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks again!!!
If i understand correctly you want the best workflow to get sharp details on a big object? If you take close up shots just be mindful of the FOV and reflectivity of what you are photographing, rotate around the mesh getting every angle possible, with overlap between the images for better match, you can also do arcs to capture the top or bottow of the mesh, imagine you are trying to do a full globe, thats my workflow let me know if it helps you
Just load the model into a 3D package such as maya or blender, add a hdri (you can get free ones from hdriheaven.com), set up a camera to look at the model, then give the model keyframes to make it rotate 360 degrees over how ever long you want.
Si las fotografías se realizasen con fondo verde para generar un chroma y posteriormente editarlas dejándolas transparentes, ¿el Software aceptaría PNG en lugar de JPG? ¿O en lugar de fondo Chroma dejarlo en gris neutro?
If you did the scan in like perfect conditions such as in a studio so everything was equal then more points would probably give better quality, but I have found that it just makes things look bumpy and weird requiring more cleanup work to fix. You might find it does give better results though so its probably worth trying both to see what gives you better results.
[si puedes hablar inglés] [If you are using Maya you want to centre the pivot to the object (you can do this by either clicking the icon in the poly modelling shelf or by going to Modify then centre pivot) then use the absolute transform tool in the top bar (it has 3 boxes that say x y z on them) and type 0 in all three boxes, This should fix the problem if you are using another program it should have the same tools they just wont be in the same place.]
This is one of the best tutorials I´ve ever seen. Fast, simple and very well explained. Thank you!
Would've been a great tutorial , if it wasn't faster than the speed of light.
Yo facts
You solved my delima, thank you.
Amazing tutorial my dude!!! Really we done, I wish all tutorials were like this
Loved it, simple and straight to the point.
Thanks nicely done. Brilliant
excellent tutorial skills thanks!

How (well) does this work for more complex shapes, say, the interior of a room with a pillar in it or something like that?
Thx for sharing
no need to apply mask for all the images?
Thank you, Alex
Thank you. Wish you hadn't rushed through it.
Wouldn't it be better if the cleanup is made in metashape and then retopologize the model in maya and bake the color texture into the new model?
Really cool, what do I have to go to school for to learn these skills?

Can you do 3d models of existing buildings?
I can build the mesh with 8 GB of ram! Hmmmmmm
I'm so relieved thank you
Hi I am new to agisoft have a computer ryzen 9 with 64gb of ram but everytime i try to make point cloud it crashes any idea what I am doing wrong?
Could be any number of problems, try scaling down your images or turning off gpu acceleration under Agisoft preferences/GPU if you had it turned on
Thank you!!!!!awsome
Is it possible to scan a room?
Yep you can scan anything as long as you take good pictures
How can we create the rotating 3d model in the last part of the video?
Just load the model into a 3D package such as maya or blender, add a hdri (you can get free ones from hdriheaven.com), set up a camera to look at the model, then give the model keyframes to make it rotate 360 degrees over how ever long you want.
Have you compared Metashape with Mashroom (also free)?
Are there any pros and cons to it?
Meshroom is free and gets decent results but it is SLOW, and I mean Slow as hell. If you have a super rig and some patience you can get good results.
Si las fotografías se realizasen con fondo verde para generar un chroma y posteriormente editarlas dejándolas transparentes, ¿el Software aceptaría PNG en lugar de JPG? ¿O en lugar de fondo Chroma dejarlo en gris neutro?
So wait, having more points removes quality? How does that work? Interesting.

How fast should be this tutorial, so nobody can follow what to do? - Alex: Yes.
Brill thanks

@@AlexConolan gracias amigo, uso agisoft metashape, voy a buscar la opción gracias
Lo podes hacer muy facilmente con global mapper!
great vid, piss poor subtitles though mate.
You misspelled "aperture." It's "aperture," not "apature." Great video though, not complaining
To fast. Dislike
:(
