Last one was fun, but this is a much better format for the auction! The one aspect I would suggest on my end is to have the auction be '$X for first choice' rather than '$X for specific card'. That way if there's two good cards but you both disagree on which is better, you have to consider raising even if the other player would not pick the one you want.
I mean, if you know the other person if going to pick a card that’s not the one you want because they think a different card is better, why would you raise to pick first? The card you want is still going to be there when you pick second?
Suggestion for next time: auction a la Texas hold'em. At first only the left card is revealed and you can bid for it. Whoever wins the bid takes that card. The loser gets one of the remaining two. If neither of you wants to bid for it, reveal the middle card but now the bid will automatically be increased by a certain amount (let's say, 25). The winner of the bid can take any of those two cards. The loser gets one of the remaining ones. If again neither of you wants to bid, reveal the final card but the bid increases again (by, say, another 25). That way the mindgames are: do you want to pay less and take a risk, or pay more but get more choices?
I rarely ever comment on TH-cam but I wanted to say this is the coolest hearthstone format I’ve seen. Nice work planning this one up. Loved the last video too and would love to see more of the auction.
I really like the idea of hiding some information upfront as it makes the bidding more competitive. I think it would be even more interesting if the person who loses the auction is forced to take the middle/unknown card.
My suggestion for changing things up, you can only see the left and middle card, your opponent can only see the middle and right. The asymmetry in information allows you to potential bait your opponent into thinking you have a really good pick, when it might actually be trash.
I don't think making the middle one cost 50 initially to be a good call. It's already expensive to pick something random, to pay for it is worst. But I see the vision of making it more of a commitment
after watching the auction I would suggest having a minium amount of gold to spend for uncontested cards until gold is out then the person with no gold automatically gets the uncontested card to spice up the gold drain and add more need to fight for cards.
Awesome video, I think both played it great. [[SPOILER]] I don't agree that Rarran messed up by trying to go for picks that helped Orb out - or at least thats not why he lost; both games he got valuable spells into orb that kept him in it (and honestly could've won it for him if dreads wasn't slightly unlucky as opposed to ungodly lucky). I think there is definitely something to be said that fighting so hard over sunset volley, and then being unable to challenge the excavate picks probably lost him the matches - but again, dreads got very lucky draws DURING the game in my opinion as well. During the draft I wasn't a big fan of the wildcard pick being 50 gold, but I think I've come around to it. I watch a lot of Rarran, and I think this twist is one of the better videos he's put out in the past few weeks as well as an improvement over the last iteration.
Guys should make it so you can pay x gold to uncover the middle, but its only uncovered for that person, both can still bid so you could mindgame things.
I remember you guys did that arena draft where you only saw the left card and someone else only saw the right card Maybe something like that? Rarran sees left and middle, dreads only sees right and middle? Could lead to cool mindgames
For the next round, you should make it so whomever loses the bid has to the take card to the left. ( choosing the left most card would make your opponent take the right card) It would be interesting to see the choice of taking a really good card vs taking an okay card and forcing your opponent to get a really bad one.
Really creative content, thanks big R. Also Ive been thinking of couple ideas for the format: Like in poker, make first bet increased aling course of the game - for first 10 cards - the minimal bet is 30, for next 10 cards its 40 and final 10 cost minimum 50. I would also suggest you guys play 3rd with decks swapped, would be fun to see
I'd suggest doing an entirely blind bid for the next one (you can see all three cards, but both players bid independently, similarily to how you did for the legendary in the start).
great vid man, two things 1) i always had an idea in arena where you would be able to pick all of the 3 cards offered to you, once in a run (if your deck doesnt exceed 30 cards ofc). probably make it expensive so its not too OP. so if player (1) uses this throughout the draft, player (2) has an option to either do the same later, when there could be better options, or just not use the option at all and pick cards for free at the end when the player (1) already has full deck. the player (1) would have an option to outbid player (2) if they have excess gold, but they cant add said cards into the deck. just a thought, i think it would be really cool if you would somehow encoporate it into this format tho! 2) i feel like it would be infinitely more visually pleasing if you put your facecam in the bottom right. during the draft that is. you can also better see the cards "in your deck" keep up the awesome content ❤
I feel like the bidding process should just be for "1st pick" from the 3 cards and not bidding on a specific card (also means you can double guess which each person is bidding on etc) and can drive up bids even when going for different cards.
There would be no strategy to how the decks are built then though. If both players are using all of the decks it doesn't make any difference whether the deck you built is strong or not, so you may as well just pick randomly if it were done that way.
I think this format was a definite improvement and a lot of fun, but maybe still has a bit of refinement work. Might also be fun to see you play it with Zeddy?
Ok, so a much better concept than the first one, however, I think just bidding for first pick instead of on specific cards would be better and more interesting.
this auction system is kinda odd. Not seeing the middle is a fun idea, but having to pay for it regardless and not being able to pick it otherwise is kinda weird
I still like the other idea that was suggested in the last video better, which is they both can see all cards, but they bit for the right to pick a card from the 3... they don't actually know what card each other wants... which could lead to fun results...
You should do this abit diffrent. Make it so that 1 person can only see the mid card. And That person have to start every bid and the other one can chose to steal every time you pick middle. So he can bait the other person to bet money on the middle card :'D Imagine making him pay 100 for another damn 1-1 Murluc that draw secret xD
I was really not a fan of the 50g minimum for the mystery middle card. It made it very unappealing to select on top of it being unknown. That's just two major turn offs for going with the middle card. And consequently we saw only seven selections of the middle card and like six of those were due to a shun of one of the known cards. And if you pick the middle card, your opponent just gets a free picking of the known cards. So a third turn off. It would have been more interesting to see the middle card as a cheaper option. Or alternatively you get to select between the mystery card (after it's been picked and become known) and the other non-contested known card. So you pay premium for knowledge.
I was just thinking why raran did not go all in on second buster... (written be4 they started the match, no idea of final result yet) Other dude would think really hard about guaranteing legendary and either you get a bunch of points away from him or break excavate cycle...
I mean I am kinda a noob. But tbh seems like the arena deck is more runable with projection than Rarran's deck :P. Funny how that rng works. Also the fact Rarran messed up Dreads gold clearly was just Dreads 401K retirement check.
Haven't watched the full draft yet but I feel like placing two disincentives on the middle card is too much and will likely lead to it never being picked. If anything the other card should cost gold and the middle be free if you lose the bid. I shall see though maybe I'm wrong.
If solarian prime was the no brainer first legendary pick, then it makes no sense to bid that high for the middle legendary. Should've just bid 50 gold for the middle legendary if you wanted to yolo then Rarran would've been up on gold the whole auction.
How about a version where one players can see the left and middle card and the other player can see the right and middle card. So they obviously know what the middle is but they can gaslight each other about the value of their own card and maybe get the other person to bid extremely highly on a trash card.
Now do the same 3 times with 3000 gold and create 3 decks. That way it's not always a mirror and you can't counter just a specific deck and have to pick just the best card
I think for next time they should draft more than 1 deck but keep their money for the bidding between the decks as a mirror match in class is not as interesting. Still the draft is so fun to watch
Last one was fun, but this is a much better format for the auction! The one aspect I would suggest on my end is to have the auction be '$X for first choice' rather than '$X for specific card'. If im interpreting this right that could be amazing. to clarify, you mean they would say "I will pay X to be able to pick first"?

This is an improvement, but is still kinda bad

Hands down this was the most entertaining hearthstone draft I think I’ve ever watched
This was so fun! Not sure what was better, the tense auction or the ruthless smacktalking during the games! xD
yeah cheating was 100% involved in the first card and you can not convince me otherwise
My suggestion for changing things up, you can only see the left and middle card, your opponent can only see the middle and right. The asymmetry in information allows you to potential bait your opponent into thinking you have a really good pick, when it might actually be trash.
The double burrow buster was crazy 😂
damn man inflation really hit hard since the last auction video

So, next collab should be Rarran's previous deck and Dreads from this one to determine who's king of kings in arena auctions!
I remember you guys did that arena draft where you only saw the left card and someone else only saw the right card
Maybe something like that? Rarran sees left and middle, dreads only sees right and middle? Could lead to cool mindgames

Great format. Very entertaining :) thanks for the content!
Rarran here me out, great vid, what if the next one both of you had different cards you couldn’t see so then it was a mind game on which to pick
both can see middle, one sees left the other sees right. Could be cool but you could just get screwed by not seeing the good card as well.
Really creative content, thanks big R.

Something else you could do to make it more interesting is you only get 3 bids
This is an extremely fun video idea I enjoy the entire thing thanks rarran
Good rule change. I like the format a lot
Absolutely love all the Auction videos.
this episode made me play arena just got a full spell mage with anthonidas
Only legends know that this is a reUpload
BEST CONTENT! You & Dreads are great together! Mooore! give me MORE!!
For next one can we see final deck list for both of you before the games? Super fun format!
Dreads was taking the victory lap in the most abnoxious way imaginable, I fking love this guy!
Great episode. You bounce off each other well while auctioning, but 50 gold for the mystery middle miiiiight be a little high? Not sure.
Keep it up dude- love ur transparency and connection ur audience
I'd suggest doing an entirely blind bid for the next one (you can see all three cards, but both players bid independently, similarily to how you did for the legendary in the start).
Love the twist of the middle card being hidden!!

I feel like the bidding process should just be for "1st pick" from the 3 cards and not bidding on a specific card (also means you can double guess which each person is bidding on etc) and can drive up bids even when going for different cards.
My warcraft 3 brain goes "FOOTMEN"
This wouldve been a nuts arena deck if you were normally picking. Orb with all the perfect spells and quad excavate is pretty nice
The bidding phase was much better than last time. Maybe you could reduce the amount of money and use the same legendary?
As always premium content Rarran. I would love to see a version where you can only see the bottom of the card (dmg type life). 😊
For the next one you should have it so you have to win with all 3 decks.
The one you built, the one he built, the deck your rejects built.
There would be no strategy to how the decks are built then though. If both players are using all of the decks it doesn't make any difference whether the deck you built is strong or not, so you may as well just pick randomly if it were done that way.

Would've been a pretty sweet deck btw if you drafted normally, Orb+ defenders+flamestrike+blizzard+cold case+cryo + legendary excavate.
Ok, so a much better concept than the first one, however, I think just bidding for first pick instead of on specific cards would be better and more interesting.
yooo always excited for these
this auction system is kinda odd. Not seeing the middle is a fun idea, but having to pay for it regardless and not being able to pick it otherwise is kinda weird
It turns it from 3 items to 2 items in most cases. Which might be a good thing? Picking from 2 cards instead of 3 encourages them to bid more money
I legit think this format was infinitely better than the last
@@Rarran100% agree. draft was really exciting to watch imo
yeah a random card is often a liability, having to pay for the uncertainty only seems good when the other options are pure dogshit
I still like the other idea that was suggested in the last video better, which is they both can see all cards, but they bit for the right to pick a card from the 3... they don't actually know what card each other wants... which could lead to fun results...
so much better than the last one where the money was used really awkwardly. (bring back drafting the worst arena deck possible)
if we could see the lists as we went that would be fire 🔥
I Loved every minute of it 😍.
You should do this abit diffrent. Make it so that 1 person can only see the mid card. And That person have to start every bid and the other one can chose to steal every time you pick middle. So he can bait the other person to bet money on the middle card :'D

Rarran casually cheating
now to do the inverse and you can only see the middle and bid on the sides or mid.

This is great😂
If you can outbid the other person bidding high immediately makes 0 sense
I mean I am kinda a noob. But tbh seems like the arena deck is more runable with projection than Rarran's deck :P. Funny how that rng works.

this is not how blind auctions work

Would a cool idea be Everytime you play a card randomise your hand/deck
i have an idea, do this series one more time, then for the next video you do BO3/whatever format using all 3 decks you've made so far
If this dude builds a 401k deck and ruins the bid again im gonna lose my mind :'(
where is the LoR review with Snuuy?
Are we really so far gone that "Firelands Portal that costs 1 less" is not a good card in Arena?
Honestly, instead of bidding for a card, i feel like you should bid for first pick of your choice of card.
I've won a control vs control matchup in arena with floppy hydra
You definitely need to cover the middle card for the viewers as well. Otherwise a very fun video
Orb always plays lowest to highest btw
Why did he bet 250 for the first card before the other guy Even bet lmao
