    My G2C works 100% with all of my Sig P226 magazines so it gets my vote. They even lock the slide back on empty. It makes for a nice higher capacity option with the available 15, 18 and 20 round Sig mags.

    Ran across your video when I was looking for a comparison of these two pistols for my wife. Very nicely done without any preconceived notions it seems like. I realize Taurus seems to have had issues in the past as well as the SCCY but it seems both companies have worked those issues out and have produced a couple of winners. Thanks for your review.

    Like the G2C. Bought 3, me, son, and son-in-law. Ammo is cheap in 9mm platform and it eats all brands with no malfunction. I have fed 500 rounds before I cleaned so it doesn’t mind getting dirty.

  • @wilycoyote9091
    @wilycoyote9091 5 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    I have two G2C's and after replacing the triggers and sending one back for a less than quality repair job, I had to take it apart and file down and polish the edges on several parts along with the feed ramps to get it working correctly. One trigger is a SAO and the other is a SA/DA with restrike capability and they make all the difference in the comfort and shootability of the pistol, and were well worth the 30 bucks. If you wanted to you could just disassemble to the trigger assembly and knock out the pin holding the blade safety and remove it and retain the stock trigger.
    The gun already has an internal firing pin safety in case it is dropped and a manual external safety so the trigger blade safety is a bit unnecessary and only creates a hitch and stick in the trigger pull and can pinch a bit as well. Both of my G2C's function flawlessly now and the first one has about 4,500 rounds through it and is not showing any unusual signs of wear. I keep them clean and lubed, and they're holding up quite well, are not ammo sensitive, and are accurate and dependable.

    • @wilycoyote9091
      @wilycoyote9091 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@richardkrueger9097 Wish I could believe that. So many times in my life I have seen where a company advertises "Under New Management" and changes their name because they ran the old one into the ground. Smith & Wesson just built a new plant in Maryville, TN as they're moving out of Massachusetts where they were founded because of strict gun laws in that state. There is a high probability that many of their top gunsmiths and employees other than the Management team wouldn't be willing to pack up their families and move to Maryville, so they'll be hiring a lot of new folks, but also losing a lot of their core experience and expertise. Maybe Taurus is doing a better job now in GA, but I am not sucker enough to try a third time to buy something of theirs.
      Be very cautious of all of the reviews you read online from the "professional" reviewers, as they get their test and evaluation guns supplied to them and you can bet the farm that those T&E guns have been gone through completely and tweaked to perform well to garner good reviews which drive sales. I'd rather buy a T&E gun that works well than take my chances on a random new one off the shelf. Taurus may talk up quality, but they still have one of the highest rates of returned guns sent back for repair in the industry. Just too many other options out there.

    I own a sccy I've everyday carried for 2 years, and spent many hours and countless rounds at the the rounds, with only 1 issue that was a broken, magazine retention spring, I called sccy customer service on sunday I got to talk to a human, they emailed me a FedEx shipping label I mailed the weapon out Tuesday received my repaired pistol back on Saturday, agreed the sccy has a long heavy trigger, and I have spent many hours with snap caps getting used to it, once I've gotten it down that little pistol, fires consistent groups time and time again keep in mind I have my personal firing range and shooting is my hobby, I own many firearms, s&w colt, and Taurus g2 I personally choose the sccy for self defense the g2 is rather uncomfortable for everyday carry which I did carry it for a year, with a quality horse hide iwb holster, for me the sccy is way more comfortable smoother not as blocky not as heavy, after thousands of rounds of ammo I never got used to the taurus trigger, I do however completely agree that the grip is easier on the Taurus however I found follow up shots to be smoother with the sccy partly because recoil, grip and trigger doesnt seem to work as well together on the Taurus

      For the folks with bigger hands, I can definitely give a 👍 to the Hogue grips. However, those of us with the smaller hands find the grips have an almost custom feel. That feel was one of the deciding factors that led to my purchase of the PT111 G2, followed by the G2C.

    The Sccy is a better option for self defense carry. People are going to hate on it since it's a newer brand and it's very cheap. The Sccy has been on the up in aggrivated crimes lately due to the price. People shoot and kill and just toss it because it didn't cost anything and is more reliable than the Hi Point C9. Their warranty is amazing and customer service is on par. Honestly tho it's probably because from the factory these pistols have so many issues and Sccy has to stand behind fixing them. The long trigger pull has plus that it's very safe especially for nervous first time carriers who think they're gonna blow a hole in their hip thigh or groin. The downfall of the Sccy as a carry is the trigger. You're right that it is very smooth but the long pull and reset really hurts the defensive situation scenario. If I'm in a defensive situation I want to stop my target as quickly as possible and with that trigger rapid fire and aiming really gets hurt by this. If you want a very accurate shot you have to pull the Sccy trigger slow and steady. I've never been in a defensive situation yet which I thank God for everyday but if I ever am I'm sure I'm not going to be as calm and collective as I am at the range. That being said the Sccy is a better carry option in my opinion. Also the gun has alot of very nice quality parts especially the rail for at the price point. I've been carrying it since last March and its very easy to conceal lightweight and safe with the DAO. I'm going to upgrade soon and use it as a backup in the glovebox. Great review on both tho. The only thing I would say is you were wrong about the Taurus trigger as it is single action. Also Taurus' rust very easy which is annoying to any owner.

      @@ubermench1000 Most striker fired pistols are closer to SAO, right? Most do not use the trigger to cock if a round doesn't go off, so you have to rack the slide. The Taurus has one single action trigger pull after racking the slide, and if you have a round not go off, it has a much longer double action pull, as he demonstrates. That is why the "dead" trigger feel he talks about happens too. The "dead" part is only dead in single action mode, after racking the slide, but it is a pull the whole way to use the double action function

    I've been carrying the SCCY CPX2 for a few years now. So light in the Armalaser holster that I sometimes forget I'm wearing it. Just got the new slide from SCCY that incorporates a Riton MPRD-2 micro-mini red dot sight. The Riton shakes "on" and looks great. The kit also came with a new hammer and spring combo that made the action much smoother. From the rear of the action, you can see the hammer coming back to breakover point. I took a little of the Wife's red nail polish and painted the tip of the hammer. In target shooting, I can now see exactly when I'm at the break over point. I had to cut a slot in the holster to accept the Riton sight. With a bit of care, a razor knife and a black sharpy, it looks factory fresh.

    Nice sales pitch for the Sccy. I vote for Sccy all day long. I have them both. The Sccy after return from warranty repair works 100%. How you say it? "I would bed my life on it". But I don't have to because I carry Shield 9.
    But be aware, Taurus customer service is not the best in town. They have my TCP 380 since May 2017 and not sending it back. So if it has to be a budged gun think twice. What if you need repair?
    A product is only as good as the service on the product. You could buy a Mercedes Benz, but if you have no real service for that product, it is practically worthless.
    So because of the lack of customer service (no, the nice talking lady on the phone does not really help a lot if you have a problem) I vote for Sccy.

And the fact that the man who made this video had to send his back for repairs is not exactly the best endorsement for the reliability of the SCCY. • @KBGardener
    @KBGardener 5 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    One thing you didn't mention that is a consideration is the method of takedown for each gun. The G2c has a Glock-style captive takedown lever. You pull the lever down on both sides (after pulling the trigger as is necessary for most striker-fired pistols) as you let the slide move forward and it will disengage from the rails. The SCCY has a removable tab that you must use a tool or the rim of a cartridge to remove while the slide is locked back before you can let the slide come forward. I would be concerned that there is a chance that you may lose the pin, rendering the pistol inoperative until a replacement is found.
    Another consideration for the G2c is that it has a rail, albeit a short one. This increases the options for a gun mounted laser sight or flashlight. With the SCCY, the only lasers available have to be trigger guard mounted, which limits your choices in lasers.

I’m a gun guy myself I own many many guns and carry daily so I’m not saying anything against that I’m just saying please don’t leave your weapons in your vehicle especially overnight your vehicle is so easy to break into and then they seriously end up on the streets I’ve never seen a weapon go from a legal owner to a criminal to a violent crime in such a quick time period and all within a mile from where the gun was stolen to used in the crime so you never know it sounds weird you never thing you’re gun would get stolen out of your truck then used to shoot your neighbor but it could. I've used them 3 times,two of them were my fault as I had overstretched the hammer spring trying to lighten the trigger a bit.the first time it was to have the frame pins replaced with the newer larger ones as the originals would start to work their way out after firing a mag or 3.But never have I had either of the 3 Sccys I have owned (still have two)fail to fire or jam on me at all.Probaly have at least 500 rnds thru each.

    My local Rural King gun counter guy who has been shooting for 24 years carry's an SCCY as his EDC and says it is far better quality than most. The lifetime warranty even moves to new owners. I just didn't like how fat the grip is for if I'm doing a waistband inner carry.

    As of a couple days ago i am at 5000 rounds through my G2c and not one malfunction of any kind. I want to hopefully get to 10,000 rounds with some good news!! I bought a Glock 43 for my wife and had 2 malfunctions with the first mag run through it, plus my wife hated it because it was too hard to handle (kicked to hard tried to bounce out of her hands). She tried the G2c and was very happy with it and with better capacity too. I have many Glock's and carry all off and on but i am finding myself carrying the G2c more than any, it just shoots better (straight) and feels better to me anyways. One thing i HATE about Glocks is their mis-representation of the so called "safe action trigger", which is very misleading to new users. Anyone with any gun knowledge knows this safe action trigger should never fucking EVER be called a safety...someone is going to get killed thinking it is a safety when it is NOT, and i don't give a rats ass what anyone says its not...their marketing team is a bunch of fucking nuts! Whether you decide to use the safety on the G2c is up to you, my only advice is if you use the safety you better be training under high stress situations to gain muscle memory because using the safety, you are taking away from your reaction time. Anyways i posted on many post throughout 2018 that the G2c was going to be something special, as the more i used the gun it just turned out to be "that special gun" that was going to change the reputation for Taurus ....and it has for sure!!

    I own a G2C and love it. I have also owned a Sccy CPX1. Hated it. Heavy trigger pull and heavy recoil. It was actually hurting my wrist, shooting it. I have 6 ,9mm and shoot them all the time with no hand issues. My G2C is one of my favorite EDC. Pluse the S&W MP shield.

    Hello from Ouray, CO!! Great video!! Thank you for sharing your experiences and observations!!
    I was just visiting my parents in the Shenandoah Valley of VA a couple of weeks ago. My dad has a G3C that he keeps next to his lounge chair in the living room, where he also sleeps due to a bad back. He took me out to shoot it; and I loved it!! So, I ordered one!!
    I love the price of these 2 models!! They are affordable to have a couple of extras placed in various places around the house or cars. I think I will go ahead and get a SCCY and try it out. I saw in our local Sportsman's Warehouse they are like $180! If I don't like it, I will expand my stock with a few more G3Cs!

Except the $550.00 Glock. There is nothing wrong with the trigger pull on the G2C. Too many years of DAO heavy triggers. The G2C is like shooting a child's toy.

The G2c Carrie's two more rounds. Has a better trigger pull. I found it is a bit more picky on ammo. Mine won't chamber Armmcor rounds. SCCY shoots anything. I had a Taurus g2c and it shot to the left just like that one. I did away with 9 mm's all together. I figured for a concealed carry on a day-to-day basis Smith & Wesson M&P 380 is a pretty good gun. I shoot Precision One ammo and it meats all FBI specs for penetration. I know what opinions are like. I just decided for day-to-day defense and concealed carry that's a 380 was more practical. If I'm going to step up to a bigger gun I've got a couple 45's one of them is a dirt cheap High Point and it shoots much better than my Taurus G2c did. I use it for my toss around in the car gun so I can get to it quick if I need to while I'm driving in this crazy world. I have another 45 thats much more expensive but I can't think for the life of me the name brand at the moment. I haven't practiced up with it much yet. I also have a Taurus 357 Magnum snub nose that's not bad for the concealed carry but it's insanely loud but not as loud as that 8 and 1/2 inch ported 454 Casull. I can't say I carry it much but I do get back deep in the woods sometimes and it may be my gun of choice. If it turns out to be too cumbersome then I'll get rid of it. Anyways, very good presentation. Up until now I wondered why my Taurus always shot to the left.

      @@cujoman187 Glocks make fine pistols, but don't paint with a broad brush. Glocks usually are dependable, but my G42 & G43 can't make it through a mag with my wife shooting it. Went shooting several weeks ago with several groups and a friend brought his SIG P320 & his G19gen5. I brought my Walther PPS, Ruger LC9S, Shield EZ, Taurus G2C & Bersa Thunder. My wife can shoot, she is very accurate, but she doesn't have the best grip and undoubtedly limp wrists firearms to a degree. She shot all firearms listed, all fed and fired 100% except the Glock - turns it into a jamomatic. Fired it 6 times and 6 stovepipes. She set it down and I shot the rest of the mag without issue. Military Arms Channel has a video of Glocks jamming vs other manufacturers. I'm neither a Glock fan boy or hater, but as for quality and dependability, there are numerous manufacturers that equal and surpass Glock.

      @@boileruphammerdown5455 IDK what's wrong with yours but I had both the G42 and still have the G43 also and never had an issue with either of them. I also "made them right" by putting the Strike Industries +2 bases on all 4 of the mags from day one as well so maybe it has something to do with the spring being to compressed with the stock base plates. I love the SI base plates and feel that's the way those guns should have came from the factory anyway. Now on to other Gen Glocks. I don't care for any others other than the Gen-3 compact ones although I do have a full-size Gen-3 Glock 10mm that I like a lot also. The 4th gens I have to push the muzzle down to aim cause they screwed up the handle angle when they made the Gen-4. I have a Gen-4 .45 subcompact that I hate! I've spent so much money trying to get it to work for me and nope nothing works so I'll stick with what I know works for me and I'll sell the Gen-4. I picked up a SCCY and I hate it as well. Reminds me of my S&W Bodyguard .380 I had until the G42 took it's place. Long trigger pull which for me doesn't work for accurate aiming. I picked it up cause it was $167 with the taxes and fees so super cheap and well you get what you pay for. My buddy picked up the Taurus G2C and it's a decent gun for sure! It reminds me a lot of a Glock and that's why I like it. I haven't had any issues as far as my Glocks feeding anything you put through them although I have had other manufactures that were very ammo specific and sorry but that's a no go for this guy! I don't keep guns that are ammo specific. I want to put the cheapest crap I can find through them cause I like to shoot lots of rounds. I buy ammo in bulk when it's on sale and I'm not picky about what it is so long as it's brass. I guess if it was me I would send your Glocks in and have them checked out cause even a female shooting with a limp wrist should still be able to shoot them. That or teach her how to shoot right so she doesn't have that issue! Lol I've got a Taurus Raging Judge Magnum that shoots 454 Casull rounds that will teach her real quick you hold on to the damn gun or it will come back and bite ya!

My 10/22, and my LCR have been nothing but a headache. No more Rugers for me. They burned me TWICE!!!!!! I hate both of those guns. I love all of my other firearms tho. Especially my Taurus guns. No problems at all. I know why they make so many aftermarket parts for the 10/22 now. The factory parts are JUNK!!!! Plus, it's BY FAR the least accurate of ALL of my .22's. And I own several. I took the scope off of it, and put a cheap Walmart red dot on it. It sits in the back of the gun cabinet, now. The LCR has a light primer strike, about every 6 rounds. Not impressed, RUGER!!!! Overpriced, and overrated. Nobody will convince me, otherwise.

    G2C is Single Action Only, with Restrike aka Double Action, just FYI for anyone curious.
    *NOT "Double Action Only", and he didn't test the "Single Action" trigger pull on the G2C.*
    In all situations, except for a failure to fire, you will be using Single Action, and have no choice, it's always the Single Action, and pretty much impossible to force into Double Action.
    The "Double Action" mode is ONLY there to restrike a light primer strike, or to retry a dud round... You CANT use it in Double Action.
