Everything on the G2C is specifically designed for defensive conceal carry, including the trigger oddity. The re-strike capability is a plus and is some of the reason why it has the long take-up. You learn the long take-up and the wall is fine. The price point is WHY it's remarkable and has the buzz...that alone is very telling. At $200 you can get one and treat it like a hammer that owes you rent money. I've done it, my G2C hammers nails and carries like an absolute dream. I picked one up on a whim while getting more .357 rounds...best impulse purchase ever!

The trigger takes a while to break in. That catch he is complaining about will smooth out if you dry fire it about 600 times. Plus, I don't want a trigger that will fire easier if I put side pressure on it accidentally. Some people also really like the trigger, especially people with smaller hands. Hickok45 liked it a lot, except the trigger, because he has massive bear paws for hands. It has a lot of good attributes, like second strike, ability to dry fire, an excellent grip, 12+1 double stack in a subcompact, it will eat cheap ammo, the trigger reset is great, and a lifetime warranty. Mostly what I hear people don't like about it is the polymer captured spring and the sights, both of which can be upgrade for pretty cheap.

Why do people focus on the trigger and long take-up? When you're being shot at and you shoot back I really DON'T think you'll worry about that. In fact I'm betting it will not be noticeable. Yeah officer, I could've put all 13 rounds into him except for that damn long take-up.

@@techman9634 never had experience with the 26. My glock is not a bad gun, and no question reliable and maybe with a new trigger and better sights I would prefer it but at that point you're comparing an $800 gun to a $200 gun so it better be superior gun. But for people wondering if a $200 gun is worth it I say hell yeah.

@@techman9634 Owned all the Glocks. To me the 26 is special. Followed by the 19. Im a Gen 3 fanboy though. The 26 over this all day for EDC then slap in 33 rounds for the night stand. I EDC the Sig 365 now that they fixed everything. Its an incredible gun! Taurus is trying to make a comeback. For me the history of the millennium platform is horrible. Im guessing now this version seems to be the king of the budget 9s. Kudos to them for cleaning house. But this is nothing more than a decent choice over a high point. Not Glock.

Why do people call them budget firearms you pay for a gun would it cost regardless that's what the cost is $500 or $200 it's the cost of the gun or anything you purchase for that matter so if I buy a car because I buy a car that's $10,000 and not $20,000 it's a budget car I guess or if I buy a toaster that is $20 then I get another one is $10 it's a budget toaster get out of here I just don't understand that doesn't make any sense budget because it costs less it's what the gun is valued at they set the price and that's what the value of the gun is it's not that it has to be a budget gun ridiculous

I like your comment and agree 100%! It's a great pistol with many features and has excellent build qualities.most folks qualify their statements with, it's great... for the price. Or, it's a great budget gun. On and on.
      I thing it's a great pistol. Period!
With this pistol, or any that I carry, but this one specifically, I can put bullets in a 5 inch circle from five yards every single time. I practice using the Gila Hayes method, 5 shots, 5 seconds, from 5 yards into a 5 inch circle. I read the book years ago and Hayes claims this is a minimum to adequately prepare for self defense. If you can't do this consistently, according to Hayes, you aren't trained well enough to defend yourself. That's not my theory but I do believe in that.
It's not as easy as it sounds but once you shoot a few times, it becomes easier. The quick reset on the G2C`s trigger makes it even easier.
It's a damn fine pistol no matter the price.
Again your honesty is refreshing. Thanks.

Absolutely love my g2c! I definitely have more than a thousand rounds through it in the past six or seven months. I perform very very minimal maintenance on it and it has worked like a charm. When I say minimal maintenance I mean I've actually only in-depth cleaned it twice. The rest of the time I simply wipe the inside and outside down. It has graciously accepted aluminum, brass, and steel ammo. I have used hollow points to ballistic tips to FM J's from the cheapest to most expensive, and she doesn't care. I've never had any failures to feed, eject, or go into battery. I have never experienced anything that would make me question its ability to perform in the moment where my life was on the line. I have a stainless steel version which I picked up for $250. Compared to the Glock, the quality of the materials seems identical (in my opinion) . Not sure about the quality control of tolerances and clearances, but it seems to be on par with 5 and $600 guns. My thumb released for the slide was a butt kicker in the beginning but after a few hundred rounds in a day, she was almost intuitive. I have locked the slide back and dropped it several times to see if it would potentially chamber and fire around. (I did this with an empty magazine). To my extreme satisfaction, it never did. Even my glock has done it a time or two. The weight, and ergonomics makes it great for all types of carry. I am 5 foot 11, yet the trigger doesn't pose any issues. It was a little funky at first, but literally took me only two days at the range to become second nature with it. The trigger is very consistent and never surprises me. The sites made me laugh though, who puts windage and elevation on a 3 inch barrel, LOL. But after sighting it in and putting it on target at 25 yards she has remained there ever since. I have even performed several one handed cocking drills, catching the sights on my pants to chamber a round. And yet still the sites are exactly where I put them. I am consistently grouping approximately 3 inch shot groups at 25 yards, give or take. In my personal opinion, this 10-year military believes this is one outstanding and trustworthy firearm. . I'm curious to get it up closer to 2000 / 2500 rounds. Thanks for a great video brother! Keep up the good work!

I have a G2C and LOVE IT! Both my wife and I each bought one for concealed carry. We got the 2 of them for $450 with a few boxes of ammo as well. Both of us qualify for carry with them no problem. They function great, I've shot over 1,000 rounds through mine already and its functioned like a dream every time. Trigger is definitely weird until you get used to it, but after that it functions like every other handgun I own. I was truly shocked at the actual price point for this kind of gun. It's concealable, dependable, and most importantly AFFORDABLE!! If you're thinking of getting one for concealed carry, don't think, just get it! It's definitely worth it.

Great review. Appreciate it chad. This gun has been good to me and I’m grateful to have owned it before I could afford to upgrade to an m&p 2.0 compact. This is an everyman’s gun. Any working class person, man, woman, elderly, or child, or someone who wants a truck gun, beater gun, trail gun, or an edc they don’t want to worry about losing or breaking. And for the money it holds up very well. To all the gun snobs, remember this was one of the top selling guns of 2018. So every American gun owner who isn’t a tacticool or experienced or wealthy gun guy has probably considered owning one if they don’t have it already.

I've never noticed that 1st wall you're complaining about and, judging by what you said, you wouldn't either with a proper trigger pull and control.

Ive had mine for a couple of years. I decided to install a new fireing pin guide with a stainless steel unit -replacing the plastic version and installed the firing pin backward and would up with a dead trigger. I contacted Taurus and advised them that I caused the problem and was not expecting them to warranty it but I was sending it back for repairs. They replaced the sleeve at no cost and I had it back within 3 days. I later bought a stainless steel guide rod and spring on e-bay which lasted 30 rounds. Lesson learned -"if it aint broke dont fix it". And stay away from E-bay cheap parts. I just wish it was not so heavy.

I played with one at my LGS a few days ago and noted the exact same thing about the trigger. I found that if I depressed the trigger with the very tip of my finger rather than the flatter area I didn't have any issues with it catching. But using a larger area of my finger to depress the trigger resulted in the catch. Upon examination of the underside of the trigger mechanism with my flashlight I could see what was happening. Depressing only the center safety blade while holding the trigger still causes a little metal hook to move out of the way. But if you don't get enough force on the safety blade to move this hook before the trigger body starts moving back, the very tip of the hook catches, essentially engaging the trigger safety. But it's just barely caught and then further pressure against the trigger causes the hook to finally slip off it's catch and the whole trigger will move back easily until you reach the actual "wall". When I was using just the tip of my finger I was putting force directly on the safety blade but when I used the flatter pad of my finger I was making contact with the blade as well as the trigger itself. This allowed the trigger to begin moving backwards before the safety blade had moved enough to fully disengage. I could see how a lot of trigger cycling would cause it to wear in over time and reduce the likelihood of a catch.

I have the previous G2 model (without the "C"). I thought it looked pretty sharp, so I bought one just to play around with. It's seriously, a pretty decent little handgun. The trigger is a different, but manageable and for many people buying their first handgun, they won't notice anyway. It is a long, light trigger up to the wall, but the measured pull on mine is slightly less than any of my Glocks and considerably less than the Shield. The nice short reset makes up for it a little. Mine was $220, but they do dip below $200 now and then.

Did you know that here in Brazil, Taurus CEO, Salésio Nuhs, wrote a letter to our government recommending that Brazilians be disarmed and no longer have the right to bear arms, even though the Brazilian people are almost being enslaved by a socialist dictatorship with its new ruler Lula ? And that Lula has connections with the Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro, narco criminal, with Vladimir Putin, Daniel Ortega, and several other current tyrants? Lula wants to disarm us Brazilian and Taurus collaborates with the disarmament. If you appreciate freedom, DO NOT BUY TAURUS GUNS AND AMMO FROM CBC! If you ask me why, it's the good old lobby with the new government, which buys ammunition, in addition to market control in Brazil, to prevent competitors from arriving in Brazil.

A Taurus was my first pistol when I started buying and wish I wouldn't have sold it as I had gotten use to the trigger and really like it and the way it shot. Later i had gotten a Smith amd Wesson and got rid of it within a week and took what I got from it and finally got another Taurus then traded it as I do a lot of trading and beer hold onto any weapons I get until hear recently I had gotten a ruger .45 from my local gun shop and really liked it. So I decided to get a ruger 9mm to keep with me and a buddy seen it and of course I sold it to him. I had came across a colt 1911 and decided to get it and as I got home my neighbor came out and asked if I had a pistol I would be interested in selling and as bad as I didn't want to sale my riger .45 I gave him a price and he handed me cash right there, didn't really expect it but hey now I have more spending money on my next pistol or rifle although I did win a p89 in a raffle so I kept it.

I bought one of these a year ago and found that for price I paid ($199) and performance for my concealed carry needs, it is ideal. Since then I made 3 improvements to it: 1. The trigger safety extends too high out of the face of the trigger and doesn't like side loading on the trigger pull. This made it feel like the trigger is only 1-2 mm wide and it made my finger hurt in short order. The trigger is non metallic reinforced plastic and is tough as nails, so I got my Dremel tool out and ground the safety down and rounded its edges until it is only slightly above the trigger (~1 mm) when the gun fires. This spread the finger load across the face of the trigger and made it feel much more normal and comfortable to shoot. 2. If you look at the striker inside the gun, it is essentially a straight rod with a triangular projection (a catch) off of it at the rear, where the trigger assembly holds the striker against its spring until it is released when fired. That is just fine, BUT the slot that it slides in and contacts the side of the catch to guide it, was smooth on one side and a little ragged on the other, and I could feel this when pulling the trigger. I took out the striker and its spring, and with a fine file and with a few strokes on the rough edge and a couple of minutes the striker then slid smoothly in its slot. 3. The gun shot very well from the factory, but the three dot sight line has small white dots...too small for my liking. They are small indentions with white paint in them. The sight parts with the dots are plastic, so I took a small drill bit just large enough to expand the diameter of the indentions, and finger twirled it until the rear sight dots just met the top edge of the sight. I then did that to the dot on the front sight until it was about the same as on the rear sight, then filled them all with white paint. It wasn't a big change but enough to make significant help to the sight picture for my both-eyes-open shooting style. One more thing: This gun likes oil, so don't make it run dry. Good things: after two boxes of shells, it never misfired, and was very accurate.

My biggest complaint is the sights. They're plastic and feel cheap. But that's understandable given that they're fully adjustable and attached to a price leader gun. I've seen the front sight break, dropping the mount screw into the slide and locking it out in the process, on the first range trip.
The rub is that replacement sights can cost half as much as the whole gun.

Like dogging hi-point , my 9mm I’ve put 3000+ rounds through it never cleaned it and it still pumps brass out like the first day I bought it . The problem with those are people tend to bend the mag ears while loading up the mags and you get FTF’s and some stove piping . The mag ears are delicate and will bend if loaded wrong . Anyway can’t wait to get my G2C

Got one black ,ergonomics feel great, feels better than my 19c which needs a new stippling job a little snappy but I have only put 300 rounds through it, very concealable with the right holster, Uncle Mike’s has a great appendix carry that I love, don’t regret buying it for carry or home defense

Why does all gun reviews always have a problem with the trigger or they want more sandpaper on their grip quit being a wimp and adjust to your gun if you don't like it get something different that same goes to all guns all guns are custom replacement parts it don't matter if a gun was a hundred bucks and it acted like a $800 gun people will still complain

You are right on the money. All the people want to cut off the crappy trigger complaints to their reviews. Too many people want to compare inexpensive guns to high priced ones.

Ive never have issues with my triggers. I have an adaptable trigger finger. There isnt a trigger in this world I cant pull. Its something I was born with. It cannot be taught. Some people really struggle with triggers...

Outlaw GT I feel the same way. Some triggers are much better than others but I haven’t found one yet I can’t shoot accurately. From Sccy cpx2 , hipoint all the way to 2.5# modded glocks. I just adapt to the firearm.

The trigger is always going to be a personal preference, unless I missed it he didnt mention it has restrike capabilities which is one reason the trigger feels "funky".

My wife bought this as her first gun. First she ever bought and first she ever fired. She now uses it for concealed carry and her job as a armed guard. Its no glock but its durable and after 1k+ rounds has never had an issue. Not bad for a 200 dollar gun i would say.

Was it the trigger or your shooting technique? Not bashing you, serious question. I have the PT111 and I've never experienced the problem that you mentioned.

It's him 100% you're supposed to pull the trigger straight back that's just good shooting fundamentals mine has a very soft take up then there's the wall and then it goes bang

I own two g2c pistols, black matte and stainless models. The gun will eat any ammo you throw in it and is reliable and accurate enough for everyday carry. I have 4,000 rounds through them and never a malfunction caused by the weapon. Would you like 2 pistols for $400 or 1 pistol for $500. That's the only question you need to ask yourself before purchasing a self defence 9mm 12 +1 round carry weapon.

I picked one up nine months ago as an inexpensive stand-in gun for my wife to carry concealed until she reached the top of a waiting list for a Sig P365. She ended up opting for a G43 recently and never carried the G2C, although I did a few times this summer as it was easier to conceal AIWB than my M&P M2.0 9C at 4 o'clock under a t-shirt. I agree with your take that it is a decent gun, particularly considering the price (I got mine for $240ish out-the-door). I upgraded some internals with Lakeline LLC parts and got a good kydex AIWB holster and was still in it for less than $400. It'll stick around as a backup/truck gun.
My biggest complaint is the external safety. I wish there was a model without that.
The trigger is a "feature" to promote proper trigger pull. :) I probably have less than 200 rounds through mine and wonder if it will smooth out after a few hundred more. I've also looked at an aftermarket trigger on eBay that retains the trigger safety but not sure I want to invest more in a backup gun.
    Nice review!

The original pt111 is also a great gun. Reliability is just incredible. Between my pt111 and g2 only 3 failures and only with steel crap ammo hard primers in 7k plus rounds. Sometimes life surprises u. My glock 26 is collecting dust.

The magazine release is designed that way for a reason because if you have medium size but slightly beefier hand you won’t accidentally release the magazine when your rapid firing. You can also shoot the gun right or left handed without changing one thing on this gun the magazine releases with the thumb for right hand and middle finger for left hand.
