I used to own the CPX-2 its a great gun. I traded it in on Glock 19. Evidently the warranty has been upgraded to include theft. If you gun is stolen and you can provide them with a police report SCCY will send you a new gun.
Based on your video of this gun, I went to my local shop and bought one. I absolutely love this little gun, you can carry it all day and will almost forget you are wearing it! And I was totally impressed the first time I shot this gun with the accuracy, was shooting 3/4" groups at 25 yards all day long! This is a great gun, especially for the money, thanks for the honest review on it!
Eric, I got one of these for my wife and I've put 700+ rounds through it. After about 300 rounds a small piece broke that connects the trigger. I called and sent it in. They went over the gun and not only fixed the small part that broke but they went over the whole gun and it was all updated and upgraded when I got it back.It was like a 2nd Gen gun with everything improved with new parts.Total cost for me $0.00. They even paid postage to send it back. The turn around time was about 6 days too. I highly recommend this company. The CPX2 has been trouble free and is a shooter. Not only a good gun but the people working there where also very pleasent to talk too and helpful in answering all of my questions.
My CPX2 runs through all that I feed it except Federal 147g HI shock. It will shoot 124 HST, 115 Blazer aluminum and brass, Tula brass, Ranger black talons and a bunch of fmj a friend gave me in baggies. I will say the trigger does take a lot of getting use to and shooting it is not what you'd call fun compared to other pistols I have shot. First time at the range I ran about 250 rounds through it getting use to the trigger and almost got a blister on my finger. But it's small, light and accurate and with the right ammo reliable, I carry 124g HST.

You know I have a problem with that useless little 'dingleberry' in the Glock trigger irritating my finger during qualifications. I always qualify well but my finger gets sore from rubbing on that thing. I'm not target shooting its timed. Don't always have the convenience of acquiring the perfect grip. You know kind of real world stuff. No I am not knocking Glocks.
When I purchased the gun and I have not shot it yet but when I purchased it I didn't realize it didn't have a safety on it so having the harder trigger that as you said reminds you of a revolver I like that because I was pretty nervous thinking about not having a safety like most semi-automatic pistols. And then it was brought to my attention revolvers don't have a safety but they have a much harder trigger, a buddy of mine pointed out though that most semi-automatic weapons handguns that is are not very hard to get the trigger to pull so I like what you said about the trigger being a little harder to pull in case somebody would get the gun or even myself if I mistakenly put my finger on the trigger for whatever reason blah blah blah you shouldn't I'm just saying the stiffer trigger I appreciate.
I own a SCCY cpx2, black on black color scheme. I love it. The only issue people seem to have is the occasional failure to eject (a jam). It's not the gun most times with this. I have never had the issue. My girlfriend however, limp wristed the gun and I saw the issue pop up. I corrected her technique, taught her how to handle the recoil....500 rounds later, 0 issues. Most reliable 9mm for the price. I don't buy used.
You guys sold me my CPX2. Having my armor change out the springs and trigger with Galloway Performance Parts, polish the ramp so it's ready for carry duty. Thank you for taking the time to get beneficial information out to the shooting public, your assistance makes the shooting sports a lot more enjoyable.
Bob Ross changed out to same springs, got light prime strikes, sent to sccy, and got unprofessional call from them ,"who changed the springs on this gun? Well that wasn't smart huh?" Galloway wouldn't refund cost of springs.
Digger DanielG you’re right, if I was to carry this gun I’d just practice a lot of point and shoot with it. No use of the sights just trying to get used to shooting muscle memory because this gun needs an experienced shooter
I bought one of these on a whim, and was going to use it as a "give away" piece if family members would show up on my doorstep. After shooting it extensively, I must admit that it functioned flawlessly, (unlike my ill-fated experiences with a DB-9). Now don't get me wrong, I'm not going to replace my Kahr CN9 or even my Ruger LC9 with it, but I wouldn't feel out of place carrying it. I'm a firm believer in having a back up for your concealed carry piece.
I talked to them and they said that they wasn't planning on making any medium or full size. They said that they are just sticking with making compact size weapons. I tried my best to talk them in to making one lol
@Mini Bike Morgan yes it’s a great 1st gun. It’s cheap but not cheaply made, it’s reliable at least for me. I must say the trigger is quite heavy but there’s a kit to cut the weight in half and also the recoil is more snappier than a bigger pistol due to it being so small.
@Mini Bike Morgan id recommend you get yourself a ruger 10/22 or any type of 22 carbine so you can practice your aim because ammo is expensive right now and a box of 500 22lr is no more than 50$
I carry one while kayaking, hiking, etc. It is a good quality pistol. Far too many people just cannot shoot and they blame the pistol. I leave the G19 in the truck most days.
Just got back into firearms haven't fired or owned one in over 15 years...bought one of these for my EDC...Recoil is a bit rough...but great gun...No buyers remorse at all!!!

Excellent video and review, IV. :+1: I know several folks, including LEO's, that carry the CPX-2. There does seem to be a bit of a 'break-in' period, at least for some of them. However, it's strongly recommended to run, say 500+ rounds through ANY semi-auto before relegating it to EDC / carry use. Great little CC gun!
I use to have one. Bought it used. It had some extractor issues. Sent it back to Sccy on a Monday and they returned it to me by Friday. They replaced the extractor and polished the feed ramp. I live in the south Atlanta area. They definitely stand by their warranty. I liked the size if it but I ended up selling it because it is snappy. My main carry weapon is the Glock 23 Gen 4. Just picked up an M & P shield in 9 yesterday. So I will see how I like this one. But as far as being a good budget gun the Sccy will be a good one with a good warranty program.
I've been carrying a SCCY for about a year, got no complaints. I carry It everyday and used It to get my CCW permit. I carry It as my primary gun. I've put several rounds through It no hick ups. Very good gun for the money. It's very accurate gun I think you will enjoy It.
I have a SCCY CPX-2, and I have shot a number of rattlesnakes that wanted to play, and they did not get a chance. They were dispatched with CCI 9mm Snake Shot! No jaming in the chamber, clean ejection!
Thanks for the review on my favorite 9mm. I am budget minded, but it never ceases to amaze me that, for a little more than a Hi-Point (I do one of those too), you get a weapon that can put on a steady performance like the SCCY did for you. I was out shooting a box of 9mm through mine today.
A buddy of mine bought one of these. We have shot it many times with no problems. He took a Kahr 15 round magazine, put a notch in it and now can carry 16 rounds in it. So far so good.
Good review of the CPX 2. After 350 rounds mine has been reliable. You're right about having to learn the trigger, but getting proficient with it doesn't take long.

60% hits at 50 yards with a compact DAO pistol is nothing to sneeze at. Good shooting, and good pistols. I own one. My Boss at our pawn shop owns two. A CPX-1 and a CPX-2. I will happily refer people to your video for a fair and unbiased range test. Too many do a video just waiting to sneer at the non Glock offering.
Sccy is a great company and they believe in their product and company. I own 2 of the cpx-2 and in battle of the 9mm sub compact, this is my favorite comfortable carry.
very impressed with mine. carry every day. installed aftermarket rubber grip pads that made a huge difference. you don't need to spend $500 to defend yourself reliably.
I think these videos are awesome, and i love the fact that IV8888 isnt brand, date, or price myopic. it really make for a huge range of reviews and you guys give great input. as far as the CPX2, by that review and demonstration it seems legit, if i didnt already have the LCP for carry i'd look into it. I have had one of these for a few months now. Have shot many diffrent guns including the shield. All those guns felt to small for my hand. this gun fits and feels right. After about 100 rounds you get used to the fell of the gun and the trigger. I carry this gun where ever I go. I got mine for 280 with the stainless slide. Very nice gun and video.

Good review guys. I bought one about a year ago, I wanted to have an inexpensive, compact and reliable 9mm and this gun meets that criteria. I first tried a Taurus 709 Slim and I kept ejecting the mag during firing so I didn't want that. The CPX-2 is a great little gun for it's price point.
This is a great firearm, especially to use as a backup gun. Fits right in your pocket. The little finger extension makes a world of difference in the controllability of this thing. With how snappy it is, being able to get your whole hand on it makes a huge difference.
I put a slip-on rubber grip on mine and it helps with the recoil. Best investment ever. My fingers are too big for those grooves, but the rubber grip fixed that and makes it a hell of a lot easier to hold onto.

My dad bought one and told me about it, I bought one and love it! my only issue was with the mag, they caused double feeds, I fixed it by leaving the mags loaded for about a week, after the springs were broke in they worked great, eric tell your friend he is slapping the trigger a little lol, just release to the sear!!
One of the better gun review videos I have seen. Thank you. I get a kick out of some of the comments concerned about a long heavy trigger pull in a defense situation. Trust me. That is one thing you will never notice when you are really in that situation. I would never want a light trigger pull with no external safety. This trigger is long and heavy for a reason.Sure I like light triggers for accuracy. My preference is an SA/DA. But I haven't found one this light weight in 9MM. Just my opinion of course.
This is my cc gun. It is a GREAT little gun. The only challenge I am faced with is finding more comfortable concealment options....that won't cost me an arm and a leg...Thanks for your reviews. You do really good work!!! cd
I bought one this last year and have been loving it. First I over oiled it and worked the slide hundreds of times while pushing side to side, up and down, etc... (tired/sore hands) had a good bit of material come off of it when i cleaned it after that. Took it to the range and had zero issues with 124 gr rounds of various types, mainly reloads. Had one problem recently, it sometimes took 2 strikes to fire. Since it's my daily carry that worried me so I had to figure that out. Ended up having a sticky firing pin since I wear it OWB and mowing, bush hogging, just being outside it got a fine deposit of dirt down inside by the firing pin. All cleaned up and no issues once more. About 600 rounds through it with maybe only 5 issues.

I have had a pf9 for a few years now. Similar style handgun. The dao trigger is something you do get used to. I can hit man sized target 99% of the time at 50 yards, I can hit the same target at 100 yards about half the time. That's more accuracy than what's needed from a handgun. Most guns are way more accurate than the shooter is capable of shooting.
i had my trigger malfunction back in january. i contacted the company and sent my CPX2 back to daytona. it was eligable for the new upgraded trigger. they sent it back within 10 days and did a great job. the new trigger is reduced to about 6 pounds from 9.5. it is much better. great customer service and weapon! by the way, i sent it UPS straight to the factory no ffl. it cost my $12.
i just recently bought this gun. I love it. I especially like the long trigger pull. I looked at several guns before choosing this one. I even chose it over the Beretta nano. Which was one of the top ones I was looking at. I would like to see you compare the Beretta Nano along side the SCCY CPX 2 in a video

I love my SCCY- I had an issue with FTE, It was working flawlessly for 300 rounds, then I clean it and next trip it consistently FTE's. I probably just had a piece of copper under the ejector. I call up SCCY and ask for advice, they end up just sending me a new slide assembly with new barrel,spring and sights with a return label for the old pieces. Absolutly great C/S, gun shoots great and I am extremely accurate with it.
Eric, Some corrections. There are 2 versions of the SCCY. CPX-1 and CPX-2. The CPX-1 has a manual safety the CPX-2 has no safety. There are 2 generations of the gun, GEN-1 and GEN-2. MOST of the GEN-1 guns are CPX-1 with the manual safety. About the same time, but not exactly, as they introduced the Gen-2 guns, they introduced the CPX-2(one of the big complaints in the gen 1 guns was it was too easy to engage the safety by accident). All guns being sold today should be Gen 2 guns. I have sent a CPX-2 in to have a feeding problem resolved and they were very fast and easy to deal with. You are correct, at 19 oz it is snappy...
Just to be clear (mis-spoken in the video) SCCY had a Generation 1 CPX-1, then came out with the Generation 2 pistol. The Generation 2 is available in both the CPX-2 (shown in the video - No Safety) and CPX-1 (gen 2) which is identical other than it has a Safety. Not sure why you need a safety with such a heavy and long trigger pull, but it is available in the Generation 2 build. So, all CPX-2's are Generation 2, but CPX-1's can be Gen1 or Gen2. The Gen1 had horizontal lines in the side of the grip, the Gen2 is all stempled.

I got to shoot one of these recently, and was surprised by how much I liked it right away. The grip was great, even for a compact. It just felt right in my hand. The trigger didn't suck as much as I thought it would. It doesnt break super far back. I was even quite accurate with it, hitting a coke can 10 yards away. No big feat, but i was surprised the trigger didnt induce fail. Honestly I really liked it. I may get one some day. I have a few concerns about quality and reliability though.

Bought one last year. Had some ftb issues with it and a broken exstractor, sent it back and SCCY fixed it. I still was having some failure to battery problems sent it back again. While SCCY had it I sold it to a friend. They replaced the whole slide and it has worked out great ( no ftb's ) for him as long as he doesn't load the +1
I got the Glock's, Sig's and Khar's for CCW, but I didn't want to risk losing such a expensive gun by leaving it locked up in my car. So I got a SCCY for my truck gun, it's solid, compact, comes with two 10 rounds mags, with a life time warranty & cheap.
+Austin Tyler The critical defense I would be weary of, I haven't had a problem in mine, but some people have had issues with the tip insert causing feeding issues. Anything else, I've never had a problem, nor have I heard anyone have a problem shooting hp's through theirs.
I load those in my Beretta 92FS, Sig 229, M&P9, and my HKVP9. I have had no problems whatsoever. If anything, I would think the polymer tip would aid in reliable feeding.
Just ran across one of these used (barely) in a pawn shop in Tennessee for two bills. It didn't seem like it wanted to chanber reliably so just for the heck of it I took one of the mags apart because the followers were tilting down in the front. Seems like the previous owner decided to stretch the springs. Looks like I'm going to be calling SCCY tomorrow to order a couple new mag springs. All in all it's a pretty decent pistol for the price. I was amazed this video is 10 years old and a new one is still selling for 3 bills.

One of THEE BEST things I've come to like about this gun, which no one I've seen on any video or write up has mentioned, is, it's the best slide "rib grips" I've ever gripped and racked. Better than any 1000 to 3000 dollar gun or 500-900 dollar gun I've shot or own. I paid $245.10 for the SCCY CPX2 brand new and $40 for the FFL transfer. Get the right holster to carry this gun because the mag release protrudes a bit and the wrong fitted holster can cause the magazine to come undone by pressing on it during normal wearing and carrying it in a 'not so suitable holster'. It racked and shot flawlessly.
I just bought my wife one of these in pink. She has had plenty of experience with my Glocks and other firearms. I guess everyone's idea of " snappy " is different. My wife has had no complaints about the firearm being to snappy. The trigger does take some time and practice to get comfortable with. But this firearm is going to be for her personal defense not so much a range gun. My main concern was reliability when I purchased it. It has impressed and has had no hang ups. I have two SCCYs both CPX-1. One is two tone second gen. I like the larger slide lock of the orginal CPX. The company sent me a gen 1 and said I could swap them myself and informed me of what to watch out for on re-assembly. I carry using a no trace pocket holster. Works fine. Great company great pistol, and it's hammer fired.
I bought one, and it took me around 300 rounds to break in. Had a lot of failure to feeds. Once I got through the first 300 break in, no problems. The trigger definitely takes training.

Great video, as usual, and a great little piece. I've been following the Sccy company for many years now, they've always been upfront about their product, and as a consumer, I appreciate that. To correct something you said in the video. You stated they had issues with the CPX 1 model... that's actually incorrect. They had issues with their entire first generation model line, CPX 1 and CPX 2. They're currently on their second generation models. The CPX 1 has a manual safety, whereas the CPX 2 doesn't. Ok, I'm done being a know-it-all...
I bought a CPX 2 about a year ago and at first it had some feeding issues and the trigger reset was not very good. I contacted SCCY and sent it to them for repair (free). When I got it back, it worked flawlessly and the trigger was much better. I keep it as a back-up gun, but I think it can also pass as a primary EDC gun too if you are on a tight budget. But you need to put in some good range time to make sure it performs well for you.
Wife and I have one and love it , trigger pull isn't that bad, We both shoot actuate enough an attacker would have a very bad day , excellent reliable gun..
Good video, guys. Reminds me of the early Taurus PT-111 (D.A.O., not the G-2). That one initially had a few issues with the spring, extractor, firing pin, and mag. release, but was repaired at no charge after up to 3000 rds. fired on the range. I agree about the trigger, but it could be a matter of additional safety, especially for the beginner. Keep up the good work!
Good video Bro! I'm satisfied with mine. It's accurate and after you acclimate yourself to the trigger, it's a hit! For SD IMHO that long trigger helps with a precision that can help. The recoil you can get used to. After all you, Practice with a handgun. You don't just go out the first time and if there are discrepancies just throw up your hands and say" oh this a'int gonna work." Common sense
Almost bought one of these, but spent a few extra dollars and got a Beretta Nano. I've put around 250 rds. through it with no trouble and it has a better trigger. However, for the money the SCCY is a good deal.....this is the gun I try to talk people into buying when they think they want a Hi-point.
One of my bestsellers. And the long pull and hammer that is never cocked while carrying, is a major selling point for safety conscious buyers, once carefully explained to them. And once they shoot them and let buddies shoot them, the buddies come in and buy one. Word of mouth advertising has sold a bunch of them for me.
I bought one of these not too long ago. At first i had an issue where the hammer just would not fall even with the trigger all the way back. Fixed it myself by filling down the trigger bar a little but when i did and tested it the firing pin broke and shot out the end. I called customer service and they sent a little packet of replacement parts which included a new firing pin and springs. Since my fixes it’s run flawless and I’m surprised by the accuracy for such a small pistol.
I think you give the impression that the CPX 1 is first generation and the CPX 2 is second generation. Actually, the current CPX 1 and 2 are both second generation, and incorporate the improvements SCCY made.
For a budget, value minded person you can’t beat this. If you don’t have tons of money to spare and want a little peace of mind when out and about, you can hardly do better with this on your person. Be watchful and stay safe everyone!
So if Chad says the trigger pull is too long, with the cheap price I'd invest in a polished ramp and port, and look at a trigger job. I respect your guys insights.🇺🇸
The sccy cpx2 in my option is a good cheap gun to learn with and is also a good gun for concealed carry if you have a bugget. I have a cpx2 ran well over 5000 threw it with no problems at all. Not even a one jam. Thats of course with cleaning between going to the range. The only way to even be prepared for a shtf scenario is with practice no matter what the gun is, practice is key!

You guys sold me my CPX2. Having my armor change out the springs and trigger with Galloway Performance Parts, polish the ramp so it's ready for carry duty. Thank you for taking the time to get beneficial information out to the shooting public, your assistance makes the shooting sports a lot more enjoyable.
Bob Ross changed out to same springs, got light prime strikes, sent to sccy, and got unprofessional call from them ,"who changed the springs on this gun? Well that wasn't smart huh?" Galloway wouldn't refund cost of springs.
So you voided the warranty for no good reason. Got it.

Eric I feel this gun is for a panic defense. That said you will never feel the trigger, in fact 10 rounds will be fired before you feel the recoil.
Thats what Bob at Shoot Straight in Clearwater told me. They don't carry SCCY but had a used one.
Digger DanielG you’re right, if I was to carry this gun I’d just practice a lot of point and shoot with it. No use of the sights just trying to get used to shooting muscle memory because this gun needs an experienced shooter
I bought one of these on a whim, and was going to use it as a "give away" piece if family members would show up on my doorstep. After shooting it extensively, I must admit that it functioned flawlessly, (unlike my ill-fated experiences with a DB-9). Now don't get me wrong, I'm not going to replace my Kahr CN9 or even my Ruger LC9 with it, but I wouldn't feel out of place carrying it. I'm a firm believer in having a back up for your concealed carry piece.
I'd love to see SCCY make a medium or full size pistol.

I talked to them and they said that they wasn't planning on making any medium or full size. They said that they are just sticking with making compact size weapons. I tried my best to talk them in to making one lol
@Mini Bike Morgan yes it’s a great 1st gun. It’s cheap but not cheaply made, it’s reliable at least for me. I must say the trigger is quite heavy but there’s a kit to cut the weight in half and also the recoil is more snappier than a bigger pistol due to it being so small.
@Mini Bike Morgan id recommend you get yourself a ruger 10/22 or any type of 22 carbine so you can practice your aim because ammo is expensive right now and a box of 500 22lr is no more than 50$
I carry one while kayaking, hiking, etc. It is a good quality pistol. Far too many people just cannot shoot and they blame the pistol. I leave the G19 in the truck most days.

I know several folks, including LEO's, that carry the CPX-2. There does seem to be a bit of a 'break-in' period, at least for some of them. However, it's strongly recommended to run, say 500+ rounds through ANY semi-auto before relegating it to EDC / carry use.

I use to have one. Bought it used. It had some extractor issues. Sent it back to Sccy on a Monday and they returned it to me by Friday. They replaced the extractor and polished the feed ramp. I live in the south Atlanta area. They definitely stand by their warranty. I liked the size if it but I ended up selling it because it is snappy. My main carry weapon is the Glock 23 Gen 4. Just picked up an M & P shield in 9 yesterday. So I will see how I like this one. But as far as being a good budget gun the Sccy will be a good one with a good warranty program.
I've been carrying a SCCY for about a year, got no complaints. I carry It everyday and used It to get my CCW permit. I carry It as my primary gun. I've put several rounds through It no hick ups. Very good gun for the money. It's very accurate gun I think you will enjoy It.
I have a SCCY CPX-2, and I have shot a number of rattlesnakes that wanted to play, and they did not get a chance. They were dispatched with CCI 9mm Snake Shot! No jaming in the chamber, clean ejection!
Thanks for the review on my favorite 9mm. I am budget minded, but it never ceases to amaze me that, for a little more than a Hi-Point (I do one of those too), you get a weapon that can put on a steady performance like the SCCY did for you. I was out shooting a box of 9mm through mine today.
A buddy of mine bought one of these. We have shot it many times with no problems. He took a Kahr 15 round magazine, put a notch in it and now can carry 16 rounds in it. So far so good.
Please tell us more about using the Kahr mag in the CPX2 :)

Good review of the CPX 2. After 350 rounds mine has been reliable. You're right about having to learn the trigger, but getting proficient with it doesn't take long.

60% hits at 50 yards with a compact DAO pistol is nothing to sneeze at. Good shooting, and good pistols. I own one. My Boss at our pawn shop owns two. A CPX-1 and a CPX-2. I will happily refer people to your video for a fair and unbiased range test. Too many do a video just waiting to sneer at the non Glock offering.
Ain't that the truth. If it isn't a Glock it just has to cost Beaucoup $.
Sccy is a great company and they believe in their product and company. I own 2 of the cpx-2 and in battle of the 9mm sub compact, this is my favorite comfortable carry.

very impressed with mine. carry every day. installed aftermarket rubber grip pads that made a huge difference. you don't need to spend $500 to defend yourself reliably.

I think these videos are awesome, and i love the fact that IV8888 isnt brand, date, or price myopic. it really make for a huge range of reviews and you guys give great input. as far as the CPX2, by that review and demonstration it seems legit, if i didnt already have the LCP for carry i'd look into it. I have had one of these for a few months now. Have shot many diffrent guns including the shield. All those guns felt to small for my hand. this gun fits and feels right. After about 100 rounds you get used to the fell of the gun and the trigger. I carry this gun where ever I go. I got mine for 280 with the stainless slide. Very nice gun and video.

Good review guys. I bought one about a year ago, I wanted to have an inexpensive, compact and reliable 9mm and this gun meets that criteria. I first tried a Taurus 709 Slim and I kept ejecting the mag during firing so I didn't want that. The CPX-2 is a great little gun for it's price point.
This is a great firearm, especially to use as a backup gun. Fits right in your pocket. The little finger extension makes a world of difference in the controllability of this thing. With how snappy it is, being able to get your whole hand on it makes a huge difference.
I put a slip-on rubber grip on mine and it helps with the recoil. Best investment ever. My fingers are too big for those grooves, but the rubber grip fixed that and makes it a hell of a lot easier to hold onto.
great gun!! My dad bought one and told me about it, I bought one and love it! my only issue was with the mag, they caused double feeds, I fixed it by leaving the mags loaded for about a week, after the springs were broke in they worked great, eric tell your friend he is slapping the trigger a little lol, just release to the sear!!
One of the better gun review videos I have seen. Thank you. I get a kick out of some of the comments concerned about a long heavy trigger pull in a defense situation. Trust me. That is one thing you will never notice when you are really in that situation. I would never want a light trigger pull with no external safety. This trigger is long and heavy for a reason.Sure I like light triggers for accuracy. My preference is an SA/DA. But I haven't found one this light weight in 9MM. Just my opinion of course.

Thanks for posting this video. PF9 has rail. You can use the crimson trace laser or a light. The SCCY needs to pass the test of time.
I bought one this last year and have been loving it. First I over oiled it and worked the slide hundreds of times while pushing side to side, up and down, etc... (tired/sore hands) had a good bit of material come off of it when i cleaned it after that. Took it to the range and had zero issues with 124 gr rounds of various types, mainly reloads. Had one problem recently, it sometimes took 2 strikes to fire. Since it's my daily carry that worried me so I had to figure that out. Ended up having a sticky firing pin since I wear it OWB and mowing, bush hogging, just being outside it got a fine deposit of dirt down inside by the firing pin. All cleaned up and no issues once more. About 600 rounds through it with maybe only 5 issues.

I have had a pf9 for a few years now. Similar style handgun. The dao trigger is something you do get used to. I can hit man sized target 99% of the time at 50 yards, I can hit the same target at 100 yards about half the time. That's more accuracy than what's needed from a handgun. Most guns are way more accurate than the shooter is capable of shooting.

i had my trigger malfunction back in january. i contacted the company and sent my CPX2 back to daytona. it was eligable for the new upgraded trigger. they sent it back within 10 days and did a great job. the new trigger is reduced to about 6 pounds from 9.5. it is much better. great customer service and weapon! by the way, i sent it UPS straight to the factory no ffl. it cost my $12.
i just recently bought this gun. I love it. I especially like the long trigger pull. I looked at several guns before choosing this one. I even chose it over the Beretta nano. Which was one of the top ones I was looking at. I would like to see you compare the Beretta Nano along side the SCCY CPX 2 in a video

I love my SCCY- I had an issue with FTE, It was working flawlessly for 300 rounds, then I clean it and next trip it consistently FTE's. I probably just had a piece of copper under the ejector. I call up SCCY and ask for advice, they end up just sending me a new slide assembly with new barrel,spring and sights with a return label for the old pieces.
Absolutly great C/S, gun shoots great and I am extremely accurate with it.
Eric, Some corrections. There are 2 versions of the SCCY. CPX-1 and CPX-2. The CPX-1 has a manual safety the CPX-2 has no safety. There are 2 generations of the gun, GEN-1 and GEN-2. MOST of the GEN-1 guns are CPX-1 with the manual safety. About the same time, but not exactly, as they introduced the Gen-2 guns, they introduced the CPX-2(one of the big complaints in the gen 1 guns was it was too easy to engage the safety by accident). All guns being sold today should be Gen 2 guns. I have sent a CPX-2 in to have a feeding problem resolved and they were very fast and easy to deal with. You are correct, at 19 oz it is snappy...
Just to be clear (mis-spoken in the video) SCCY had a Generation 1 CPX-1, then came out with the Generation 2 pistol.
The Generation 2 is available in both the CPX-2 (shown in the video - No Safety) and CPX-1 (gen 2) which is identical other than it has a Safety.
Not sure why you need a safety with such a heavy and long trigger pull, but it is available in the Generation 2 build.
So, all CPX-2's are Generation 2, but CPX-1's can be Gen1 or Gen2.
The Gen1 had horizontal lines in the side of the grip, the Gen2 is all stempled.

I got to shoot one of these recently, and was surprised by how much I liked it right away. The grip was great, even for a compact. It just felt right in my hand. The trigger didn't suck as much as I thought it would. It doesnt break super far back. I was even quite accurate with it, hitting a coke can 10 yards away. No big feat, but i was surprised the trigger didnt induce fail. Honestly I really liked it. I may get one some day. I have a few concerns about quality and reliability though.

Bought one last year. Had some ftb issues with it and a broken exstractor, sent it back and SCCY fixed it. I still was having some failure to battery problems sent it back again. While SCCY had it I sold it to a friend. They replaced the whole slide and it has worked out great ( no ftb's ) for him as long as he doesn't load the +1
I got the Glock's, Sig's and Khar's for CCW, but I didn't want to risk losing such a expensive gun by leaving it locked up in my car. So I got a SCCY for my truck gun, it's solid, compact, comes with two 10 rounds mags, with a life time warranty & cheap.

+Austin Tyler The critical defense I would be weary of, I haven't had a problem in mine, but some people have had issues with the tip insert causing feeding issues. Anything else, I've never had a problem, nor have I heard anyone have a problem shooting hp's through theirs.
I load those in my Beretta 92FS, Sig 229, M&P9, and my HKVP9. I have had no problems whatsoever. If anything, I would think the polymer tip would aid in reliable feeding.

Just ran across one of these used (barely) in a pawn shop in Tennessee for two bills. It didn't seem like it wanted to chanber reliably so just for the heck of it I took one of the mags apart because the followers were tilting down in the front. Seems like the previous owner decided to stretch the springs. Looks like I'm going to be calling SCCY tomorrow to order a couple new mag springs. All in all it's a pretty decent pistol for the price. I was amazed this video is 10 years old and a new one is still selling for 3 bills.

One of THEE BEST things I've come to like about this gun, which no one I've seen on any video or write up has mentioned, is, it's the best slide "rib grips" I've ever gripped and racked. Better than any 1000 to 3000 dollar gun or 500-900 dollar gun I've shot or own.
I paid $245.10 for the SCCY CPX2 brand new and $40 for the FFL transfer. Get the right holster to carry this gun because the mag release protrudes a bit and the wrong fitted holster can cause the magazine to come undone by pressing on it during normal wearing and carrying it in a 'not so suitable holster'. It racked and shot flawlessly.
I just bought my wife one of these in pink. She has had plenty of experience with my Glocks and other firearms. I guess everyone's idea of " snappy " is different. My wife has had no complaints about the firearm being to snappy. The trigger does take some time and practice to get comfortable with. But this firearm is going to be for her personal defense not so much a range gun. My main concern was reliability when I purchased it. It has impressed and has had no hang ups. I have two SCCYs both CPX-1. One is two tone second gen. I like the larger slide lock of the orginal CPX. The company sent me a gen 1 and said I could swap them myself and informed me of what to watch out for on re-assembly. I carry using a no trace pocket holster. Works fine. Great company great pistol, and it's hammer fired.
I bought one, and it took me around 300 rounds to break in. Had a lot of failure to feeds. Once I got through the first 300 break in, no problems. The trigger definitely takes training.

Great video, as usual, and a great little piece. I've been following the Sccy company for many years now, they've always been upfront about their product, and as a consumer, I appreciate that. To correct something you said in the video. You stated they had issues with the CPX 1 model... that's actually incorrect. They had issues with their entire first generation model line, CPX 1 and CPX 2. They're currently on their second generation models. The CPX 1 has a manual safety, whereas the CPX 2 doesn't. Ok, I'm done being a know-it-all...
I bought a CPX 2 about a year ago and at first it had some feeding issues and the trigger reset was not very good. I contacted SCCY and sent it to them for repair (free). When I got it back, it worked flawlessly and the trigger was much better. I keep it as a back-up gun, but I think it can also pass as a primary EDC gun too if you are on a tight budget. But you need to put in some good range time to make sure it performs well for you.
Wife and I have one and love it , trigger pull isn't that bad, We both shoot actuate enough an attacker would have a very bad day , excellent reliable gun..
Good video, guys. Reminds me of the early Taurus PT-111 (D.A.O., not the G-2). That one initially had a few issues with the spring, extractor, firing pin, and mag. release, but was repaired at no charge after up to 3000 rds. fired on the range. I agree about the trigger, but it could be a matter of additional safety, especially for the beginner. Keep up the good work!

This is a nice vid and that is a nice little gun. The great thing about long, heavy trigger pulls is if you can master that, you can shoot anything.
Good video Bro! I'm satisfied with mine. It's accurate and after you acclimate yourself to the trigger, it's a hit! For SD IMHO that long trigger helps with a precision that can help. The recoil you can get used to. After all you, Practice with a handgun. You don't just go out the first time and if there are discrepancies just throw up your hands and say" oh this a'int gonna work." Common sense
Almost bought one of these, but spent a few extra dollars and got a Beretta Nano. I've put around 250 rds. through it with no trouble and it has a better trigger. However, for the money the SCCY is a good deal.....this is the gun I try to talk people into buying when they think they want a Hi-point.

One of my bestsellers. And the long pull and hammer that is never cocked while carrying, is a major selling point for safety conscious buyers, once carefully explained to them. And once they shoot them and let buddies shoot them, the buddies come in and buy one. Word of mouth advertising has sold a bunch of them for me.

I bought one of these not too long ago. At first i had an issue where the hammer just would not fall even with the trigger all the way back. Fixed it myself by filling down the trigger bar a little but when i did and tested it the firing pin broke and shot out the end. I called customer service and they sent a little packet of replacement parts which included a new firing pin and springs. Since my fixes it’s run flawless and I’m surprised by the accuracy for such a small pistol.

I think you give the impression that the CPX 1 is first generation and the CPX 2 is second generation. Actually, the current CPX 1 and 2 are both second generation, and incorporate the improvements SCCY made.

Nope! The CPX-1 is IS the 1st gen... Two different makes/models (due to legal situations; spelling of the name vs a vodka company)
For a budget, value minded person you can’t beat this. If you don’t have tons of money to spare and want a little peace of mind when out and about, you can hardly do better with this on your person. Be watchful and stay safe everyone!

Guns are inherently fun, so "oh yeah" is the default reaction. Its when you don't hear it that something's wrong.
The sccy cpx2 in my option is a good cheap gun to learn with and is also a good gun for concealed carry if you have a bugget. I have a cpx2 ran well over 5000 threw it with no problems at all. Not even a one jam. Thats of course with cleaning between going to the range. The only way to even be prepared for a shtf scenario is with practice no matter what the gun is, practice is key!
