- The developers for Gundam Breaker 4 held a developer livestream this week to give us a closer look at the game. It was all in Japanese so I wasn't able to pick up on every single detail, but this video goes over all the new information I gathered from watching the full thing.

The problem with Network tests outside of Japan is that Bandai doesn't listen to anyone outside of Japan anyway. Just look at the shitshow that is matchmaking in Battle Operation 2 for them refusing to listen to people's complaints.
Hopeless GBO2 addict here, can confirm. Penalty hell is real, and its horrible.

Oh fuck. Is Gundam Breaker 4 online-only? If it is, then I might just hard skip just for that. I only played one of the GBO2 betas, but also remember the shitshow that GunEvo.

I mean, they're releasing it on Switch. Making a Switch game online only makes no sense.

2:05 GB3 had EX skills and options attached to arms and other body parts. You additionally were able to "master" these skills from continuous use in battle to enable their UNIVERSAL use as part of an assignable 4-skill kit associated with a gunpla (which is evident in this footage as well). This meant it ultimately wouldn't matter after a bit of grinding whether your arms had certain skills equippable or not because, ultimately, every arm set becomes able to use every arm-based skill. GB3 thus enabled extreme modularity and freedom in how you experienced gunpla fighting.
So, being able to use two separate types of arms might indeed speed up the process of acquiring these skill masteries, but the REAL cool thing to anticipate is that this asymmetry ALSO enables the potential for even more diverse and customizable combinations of options (option skills as described in the footage, apparantly) to exist on a gunpla. Unlike EX skills, option skills cannot be universalized and only become available as either a result of equipping a part (including builder parts) on your gunpla. I notice that there is that D-pad indicator showing that the option kit in the bottom right has switchable sets that you then access with R1 as the modifier key, which isn't precisely the same as what GB3 did to let you access your options, but it seems you will probably be able to use at least 8 option skills in total. GB3 let you use up to 8 different options in a gunpla.
I just would love for us to have say G-Self Body Dual Saber style actually become universal use since it really felt better to use than the actual dual sabers had on equip and katanas had different styles again
Thank you for noticing that there may be switchable sets!! I was freaking out that we would only have 4 and I love making a gundam with thousands of machineguns, and aside from using every and each one, use that one burst action that unloads everything xD

PLEASE NOTE, the suits they showed have MODEL KITS. anything that has a Kit is fair game.
A few small details I noticed that you didn't mention were:
- The Builder's Part limit seems to be increased now, from 7 to 8. I was hoping it would be at least 10, and it might be, but probably not.
- Option equipment seems to have two tabs if you look closely near it: there are two blue rectangles, one lit and one not, with d-pad button prompts next to them.

Same. I'm thinking of making one of my own when I get it. Breaker 4 will be my first time into the Breaker series.
if I'm not mistaken, the Aerial and Darilbalde are the only G-Witch Gunpla that made it to Breaker Mobile before it shut down, so those making their way into 4 makes sense since there are existing models they can use or touch up. Makes me wonder if we'll see more Breaker Mobile-exclusive Gunpla make it to 4. Heck, the F90 N-Type that just got announced as an MG kit was in the game for ages before it shut down!
I am severely coping some of my faves would get in, but safe to assume WfM, Hathaway's Flash, and probably the Battlelogue kits are guaranteed entries.
Can't say for certain with Crossbone's Full Cloth, Phantom or Anchor are getting in the base game, but I'm on some massive copium that they would be part. I guess same goes for Farsia, Zedas and Danazine for more Vagan rep from Gundam AGE.
I guess more WFM kits will be DLC
@@Piper9080 for what it’s worth, all of those did make it to GBM, so if my asset reuse theory is right they could all show up again
@@Piper9080they did 00 Trailblazer dirty with B3 with only having 00 Quanta in it while Vagan kits are lacking with only gafran.
Considering what they did with Gundam Evolution, I'm pretty sure we're going to see a Network Test outside of Japan.
What I have to say about this is that this game was not expected and announced suddenly. Maybe we'll see more Gundam games get announced like that. It'd be nice to get word on a PS5 release of Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs. 2 OverBoost and also a new Gundam Musou game.

as excited as I am to finally experience a proper Gundam Breaker, I still do hope that Bamco will try either reviving other old ideas like the Gundam Battle series (last one of those we got was in 2012 with Gundam Seed Battle Destiny. Perhaps tap into the Niche Market of Mech Simulators and make a game that *really* puts people into the cockpit of these famous mecha.
They have cockpit games. They're popular in Japan currently in the form of an arcade machine, and you can even save your progress on some kind of data card, it's actually really cool. Some console games in that vein were released in the past and were generally well received by the Gundam community. Blue Destiny and Rise From The Ashes.
The arcade game specifically got a port to the psp. Japanese only, but it exists

I wouldn't be surprised if the Seed Freedom suits end up as dlc since the movie is fairly new. Although they could add parts of Immortal Justice & Rising Freedom to the game at least
I wouldn't be surprised if the Immortal Justice and Rising Freedom themselves were DLC but the Weapons end up as Builder's parts in the Main Game. That way they could bundle the actual Body parts of them in along with the Mighty Strike Freedom in the inevitable SEED Freedom themed Mission Pack.
@@Zeromaru42 Heck, a Mighty Strike Freedom would just need to add new backpack and head parts since that is all that is new on the Mighty Strike Freedom from what I recall... also it'd probably make the parts come with an EX skill given the abilities shown in the movie
I wish they stuck with the pilot avatars in the lobby (or better yet a customizable genre mish mash character like in Divers). Part of the fantasy is you piloting a mech and walking around as a small guy, seeing your Gunpla docked and towering over you added to that.

Great video. I’m blown away by the announcement. GB3 is not only a great Gundam game but it’s gameplay is one of the few that rivals Devil May Cry for me
Considering the initial amount of suits is the final amount that New Gundam Breaker had, I wouldn't expect too many new suits. But that game did have quite a few dupes/recolors/variants so they could remove or consolidate those and free up like 20-30 slots.
Plus, we have 250+ base kits, so we won't be short on choice.
Given the new asymmetrical arm system, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.

Gundam Seed Freedom was listed to air in the UK around 2024 March.

Having two different arms is nice but was hoping like the Gundam Fenice. It has two seperate upper arms/shoulder pads but the same lower arms.

I have no premiums to think of this but today I found myself thinking how cool it'd be to get Mobile Armor parts for our Gunpla hust scaled down for our use.

would be nice if you could use the left and right arm choosing seperately to make asymetric arms symetrical, like making Quan(T)'s arms symetrical for example, not like I mind asymetric arms, but making asymetric symetric too, would be hella neat in my oppinion
Thanks for this. Had no idea about the dev stream. Will have to start following the game on X to stay up to date. I am honestly within a hair of buying a PS5 and getting the physical copy of the game because I want to play it in its highest glory and just have a switch and PS4. As for the question of kits, while they have said the number is 250+ I honestly do not know how many official kits there are but they should go all out and just put them all in. I would imagine the SEED Freedom kits will be one of the DLC we get with the season Pass. Pretty sad that we may get this game before SEED Freedom hit NA but oh well. I can't be anymore sold on this game than I already am. It looks like everything we have been hungry for. I hope that Bandai will make diorama competitions like you said. And I also hope the game will recivive new kits as new Gundam media comes out over the next couple years. Whatever form that takes. I will be watching to see what news you continure to bring us. Still waiting on that release date.

If they went to the trouble of different arms they should have separated waist from legs and shoulders from arms. Something not possible in Break 3 due to engine restrictions, but obviously not an issue now.
wait, for arm part, we can use different gunpla part in this gb4? i mean i saw in the video one gunpla using different arms on each side.

I’m still hoping we can equip a shield on both arms. FA Unicorn and FA Thunderbolt were like the only options.
Last thing is all the attacks are lacking any sort of weight or impact to them. GB3 when I hit something it felt like I was hitting something even on bosses

Steam is confirmed. What I mentioned towards the end of the video is that the network test is only on Switch and PlayStation.

As a newbie going on switch I'm hoping for single player as well as play with other switch consoles. If this is an online only game I'm out, despite how much fun it looks, because my online lately has been unusable.

While this is nice and all I would like to see some things that I think will keep the game from going stale quickly. Have lots of variation in the different battlefields. Breaker 3 became real repetitive quickly when farming for parts and the levels sort of meld together after awhile. Having different areas from across the Gundam universe is a lot better than generic town or base. I know it's asking alot with licensing and all, but if we could get some soundtracks from the various series as well. Being able to transfer Breaker 3's MS data to Breaker 4 would be nice too. They did the same thing when going from GB2 to 3. A huge surprise would be to be able to build your own ship and have it fight with you in battle. Imagine having your own personalize White Base fighting with in a Fleet VS Fleet type mode. I hope this game is good considering what a bust Evolution was.
agree on all points as for music; Gundam is owned by Bandai. Sunrise are the animators and they produce the manga but it is Bandai who make the real Gunpla kits, merchandising and games so there is no issue there. The issue was they banned us on PS4 directly uploading videos from the game to TH-cam and cited it was a music copyright violation. If you try recording on a PS4, GB3 would block it and put a: Recording stopped entered a blocked scene notification and refused to record it even on your own system so streamers figured out how to stream it via their PCs but Bandai don't like it. Hopefully they'll ease off this time around

I hope we get 00 Diver Ace instead of plain 00 Diver. They really botched it when they included Riku gunpla in mobile and NGB. I'm also hoping for more Build Diver/Fighter gunpla as well as metaverse(i want 00 diver arc parts). If any of the G-witch side story gunpla are included, hopefully, Anavata is included. I don't care if it's dlc.
It feels weird for me to look at the option skill being on the right side and the ex skill on the left. The thruster bar is invisible and appears in a yellow bar in the middle when thrusting or flying. The lobby seems like the Gundam Metaverse VR. If they have stories like in GB3, I hope they didn't make it like the player's fight with Will, a virus interfered with the fight between them and left us unsatisfied... 😂 I still want to destroy Will, not like in the DLC, but a real battle with him and his Astray.

Bearguy was genuine- it's from Build Fighters. Bunny you can kinda make with creative use of the Horn Builders Parts (if these are still in GB4 like they were in GB3) as for Cat... GB3 Woundwort boss head could work, for ears.... I'll fire up my PS5 and run GB3 for 100% sure but iirc there's an armour part that usually sits in the chest that has a flat piece and two ears or could use a cheek guard since pointing up they can be cat ears
Cat tail you can use a C-Funnel but do not set it as an active Optional weapon, the Stabilizer works but needs downscaling and may look too thick or off. Alternatively, Gafran MG for long, HG for more size accurate on MG size model- that can be like a cat tail coiled up. Bunny tail can get creative with a Solar Reactor

They are adding Gundam Aerial huh? But my custom mobile suit will not let it's guard down since the Gundam Aerial is really Erihct Samiya.
I think the most exciting aspect is the fact WE CAN FINALLY RECORD STUFF OFF THE PS4 CONSOLE WITHOUT IT GETTING BLOCKED.
You have no idea how that annoyed me in Gundam Breaker 3.
Other stuff I noticed... avatars can "hover" not just walk around, also the glow parts... not sure if you get get obnoxious with those, but they are "bright".
Still might block streaming if it plays licensed music, GBO2 and Breaker 3 are like that
