it was a mess...now the game is playing much better in my opinion...before you could just hit a serve in the corner with power, the AI would return it, then you can place a power shot to the other end of the court and almost win a point every time....especially on medium difficulty. NOW the player moves and reacts quicker, and serves toward the edge are harder to execute now. I feel it's saved the game from being cheesed. Play is more fun now. I couldn't play the game, yesterday the first time was fun. And I don't bitch for no reason.
Well medium? On medium (normal) the game is easy as fk, even on Hard it’s not that difficult, I’m still serving wide and placing a shot in the other corner with MyPlayer who’s got like 50 FH 50 BH on Very Hard in career mode hahah, on Expert/Legend things get a bit more difficult, but even on that, after some hours I was already beating Expert 6/1 or 6/2 without the timing bar lol, this game doesn’t have a high skill ceiling.

I liked it and noticed the difference immediately players online double faulted more often when they stubbornly tried to constantly use the wide slice serve with 30-40 serve. some were able to still do it but the serve was less effective and often easier to return.
I always thought Tennis is a lot harder to create balanced gameplay. Since Tennis is all about consistency, when you watch pros play and see one hitting the lines all the time and hitting everyshot with heaps of power you think he's playing insane. But with a video game, you can quickly understand mechanics and do this perfectly all the time without making unforced errors. You can't exploit real life tennis so when people say its dumb they have to make these changes, Its because real life tennis is completely different.
Technically a player is allowed to stand as far along the baseline till the sidelines. So they gotta change the mechanics not where the player can serve from.
So im now some days in with the new patch. Dispite the cheese being solved. You're making wayyyyy more completely unreasonable double faults. The timing meter is sometimes very unpredictable. Thats feels unfairly because youre not to blame. Hitting a perfect timed serve is resulting half of the time in a (double) fault. Maybe because i play with Sinner?
Everything gets put on hold and fixed or adjusted for sweaty ass online players. No new players or modes until the online players are happy. This is why I hate online for sports games. It's all they ever care about. Doesn't matter about the offline players and when all the online players head off to madden or nba 2k then well that's that. that's that...
They made online the focal point of the game so they have to get that right or they failed on their part .You cannot make online the focus of your game then have the online mode experience suck or what was the point. That said I would like a few more players also like Tsitsipas , and more signature racquets like Roger Federer's old pro staff's he used to win 16/17 of his 20 majors etc.

Make a strong game that you can add on to for years instead of worrying about guys who think that if they got a winning record on a video game that is somehow gonna get them laid next time they're in the bar....
This game made Sampras and McEnroe unplayable now. You took their biggest weapon their serve and took it away. They should be hitting serves anywhere with easy accuracy. Also now they can’t even get into rallies anymore. They ruined Sampras and McEnroe and make them unplayable. They get tired faster now than before. They ruined players in this game.
I disagree I have a player build with 60 serve and 60 volley plus amazing first volley, volley shot artist and still beat people serving and volleying first and second serve. Sampras and Mcenroe still have a large timing window for accurate serves and well placed volleys they have red level serves and volleys the biggest windows to get perfect serves and volleys.

Would love if the game just took more strategy. I don’t like the fact that we can just spam power shots the entire game, it’s very unrealistic. Imagine Djokovic, federer or any player had a game and just decided they were gonna hit every ball 100%, they’d lose. Also wish fatigue actually played more of a factor. The green window should massively shrink on power shots when ur stamina bar is out. Like it should be risky to hit a power shot with no stamina, but in this game it’s perfectly fine.
When the hell are they going to fix the fatigue.Iam tired of trying to play five set grand slams and getting injured every tournament.All they did was put up some stupid screen that tells you percentage of chance of injury if you keep playing.Stop catering to online players and add more to the career mode.
There is a lot more wrong with 2k25 than the wide serve,how about the overall boring gameplay and for gods sake speed the game up to look like real tennis.

if you have a high serve rating i dont think that's an issue to be fair
They’ve completely ruined the game, serve is no advantage at all now. Matches online are rallies of 20+ shots taking not even enjoyable

The power shots are still ridiculous
