If you like pretzels, you should come on down to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It’s like the pretzel capital of the world around here with all those Amish and Pennsylvania-Dutch folk. Also, one idea to keep warm at night is to get yourself a good cold weather sleeping bag and pair it with a low voltage heating blanket. Tuck that blanket inside the bag, plug it in, and you’ll sleep like a newborn! Cheers from Pennsylvania!
Yep...repairing a water leak in the bathroom and insulating around the fresh water tank and rear wheel wells while listening to this video. Doing laundry and grocery shopping after these tasks are accomplished. I go to a laundromat that has wifi and make good use of my time while my stuff is washing. Van life...not all fun, glitz, and glamor...that's for sure!
From old water/wind powered furnace to produce ingots to your roof top windsock to capture energy ... I liked the tech. And the music, too. Yeah, your oners are really good to watch! Never got out much to the Berkshires so thanks for showing those particular natural areas. I'm conflicted about people being pissy about a live camera man when we're being watched by ring cameras, tvs, cars, trail cameras, etc. Maybe they just can't fight the unmanned cameras so they protest with a person. On the other hand, I may not be aware of things people are up to these days.
Thanks Bonnie you should check out the Berks. I try to be mindful not to film people but if you are in a public space like a sidewalk or a park you have no inherent right to privacy. That’s been settled by the courts long ago.
This nomadic life is harsh. The quest for resources is exhausting as well as the daily problems you have to often address immediately. I would suggest you to do a yearly break if you can, to get the rest you need to avoid a burnout. Like a month at a friend's place, still living in your van but with all the commodities. Cheers from Canada. Latcho drom!
1) very cool jacket 2) laundry can be fun (not really) 3) do you have a second alternator? 4) spare parts is a great idea. 5) what kind of stress? Maybe if you tell us we can help you.
@@undertheradarvan yea - I meant connected to the engine for recharging. You would think that wind power on the roof would make sense, but I guess you need some really big blades...
Don't forget those 'little buddy' heaters require some ventilation because of Carbon Monoxide. I noticed you included some "Harris - Walz" yard sign footage. Trump supporters like your channel too. I genuinely enjoy your videos.
Your wind capture idea won't be nearly as efficient as simply using the alternator for charging since that is where the wind comes from, unless you are stationary of course. The source of the forward movement is the fuel in the tank and it represents only about 4% of the energy content of the fuel. Adding a rotor to capture the wind will cause more drag increasing fuel burn. They are also hard to throttle, are susceptible to damage and their efficiency requires larger rather than smaller blades. Meanwhile, your alternator is already putting out more amperage than you will use, generally. So tap 20 amps off that and your golden. Good luck.
Great video thanks , I have 100 foot extension cord . You can park outside and charge here anytime. And an extra 100 amp he 1000 watt lithium Battery Bluetooth you can run 5 hrs while you wait and charge your system. You know where I am come see me
I'm curious if you figured out what was wrong with your hydronic system? I purchased the Rixens system as you did and havent yet finished installing it. Have you ever had any issues with the attachment (yellow/blue) that you snapped onto the nipple of the gas tank while siphoning gas? Thanks for your insight - keep it up and stay warm and safe!!
The ONLY problem I've ver had with the Rixen system is the fuel pump which I've had to replace twice now. It simply stops pumping or pumps inconsistently which causes the furnace to die. I've called Rixen about it and they told me to literally take it off, smack it several times, and re-attach it. That will work but is obviously not a great solution. I think it simply undergoes too much shake being at the bottom of a vehicle no matter how well you secure it. I've never had any problems with any other parts of it. The aux nipple you attach to the gas tank is a pain to attach but it stays secure once it's in.
@undertheradarvan Good to know. Thank you! And I am inferring you are talking about the fuel pump (metal spinny-top looking thing) underneath, immediately after the fuel tank and not the (blue) pumps in the van pushing the hydronic fluid through the pex, fan, heat exchanger?
yes, I mean the small metal pointy pump that connects to the gas tank tube. The blue glycol pumps that came with the Rixen kit are rock solid, just make sure you orient them correctly otherwise it makes weird noises.
That bent my brain... How to get 1.6lb from 1lb? What kind of reaction releases more material than started with and water itself doesn't compress.... Help!
Hey buddy, Why didn't you buy the bag of salad that was 2 bags for $6.00.. it just so cost $2.00 more an you would have an extra bag for later... Or are you a brand name shopper?
I would not teust a buddy heater. I've always used a webasto diesel heater and they've been great. Don't you have solar panels for the jackery? I have the 2000 jackery that came with them and they charge quickly most days.
@undertheradarvan no.i like to park under trees. So I got the ones that I can put anywhere. But I was thinking of putting one on the roof for when I'm driving.
Who knows, your enemies may have been the ones to commit this initial "offense"...psychopaths do those kinds of things. You know...create a problem, hope for the reaction that will further their agenda and then offer a "solution" 🤔 They're fighting against Christ and regardless of what happens to us, Christ has already won 🙂
4:52....My man, don't be afraid of offending or making women suspicious. Don't even give them the courtesy. Too many men have ruined their lives worrying about the forever judgment of forever offended women. Just be a man and do your thing. Women secretly are turned on by that, strangely, but I think it has something to do with genetics that are beyond their control.

PA is Pretzel Paradise
Look up solar sail. Solves storage and massive electricity. Expensive

Matt I love your sendoff at the end
Looking forward to your winter van life. Get the heat sorted out !
Winter will be a doozy, it’ll be my third so I’m better prepared.
First law of survival (just as you said) Always have a backup plan! Cheers!
Have a plan B and maybe even a plan C!
I know I was in the park today and majority of the trees are bare 😢 literally a week ago they were full of beautiful yellows and oranges and reds
Sad to see it go

I don’t have a second alternator but you can buy them for a few bucks on Amazon. Not auto-grade but lower amperage ones.

I always crack the roof fan. As for the signs I live in Mass they are unavoidable!

I have a question. The back rack behind your seat. How much movement do you have of your seat with it being there?

Hi Matt, I'm new to your channel today and enjoying your van life journey 😊
That bent my brain... How to get 1.6lb from 1lb? What kind of reaction releases more material than started with and water itself doesn't compress.... Help!
Oxygen from the air reacts with the propane to produce water and CO2
Did you ever consider/ have an electric blanket
I do have one, I wrap my lifepo batteries in it though
Hey buddy, Why didn't you buy the bag of salad that was 2 bags for $6.00.. it just so cost $2.00 more an you would have an extra bag for later... Or are you a brand name shopper?
Or get a Olympian propane heater it’s better than a mister buddy
It’s propane all the same
you drove 2 hours to charge your battery by a whopping 6% ?
Yup! 540Ah battery bank with a 18A DC-DC charger
I would not teust a buddy heater. I've always used a webasto diesel heater and they've been great.

Do you have the solar panels deployed in the roof?
@undertheradarvan no.i like to park under trees. So I got the ones that I can put anywhere. But I was thinking of putting one on the roof for when I'm driving.
I think you just need a bigger DC-DC charger.
I originally had a 40A and it blew my alternator. $900 repair. What amperage do you use?
@ 40amp. Chargers cause a little extra wear but not that much. My alternator is smaller than yours since mine’s a VW Camper and it’s still going.
Don’t drink from the husatonic.
🤮
Buy a whole head of lettuce instead of prepared
I like the other veggie bits that come in those baggies though

I always like to ask people interested in history, who they support in Tuesday's election ?
Not the felon
Either will be 👎
