Thanks! I'm a fan of the RS3, unfortunately SP never had any. Cotton Belt had some, but they were all in Black Widow paint and none ever made it to Bloody Nose paint. The manufacturers don't make an SP RS3, so I decided to paint my own using the Bowser model. I appreciate you watching!
@@SPSteve Yeah I get that! For me I wish SP had purchased 2nd gen diesel EMD locomotives in the high short-hood configuration. I enjoy the GP9/SD9s and Trainmasters but I also like the crisp edges of the later EMD locomotives. In my small roster of locomotives I have a Southern Railway GP50 that looks awesome but sticks out like a sore thumb among the bloody nose SP units!
@@barbedwirerat661 Yes, all the 2nd gens had low short hoods. The 2nd gens are my favorite, but I do love the GP9's, SD9's and some of the ALCO's. Nothing wrong with a little foreign power. If you've watched any of the Charles Smiley videos on TH-cam you'll see that a lot of foreign power was mixed in, especially in city areas where traffic came in and went out.
Hi Steve Super video and I loved the scene at the end with all the cars getting sorted. I’m getting plenty of ideas for my own US layout from watching you, thanks 🙏 Regards Paul
Thanks Paul! I appreciate the kind comment. I thought sorting some cars would be a good way to test the track after the work was completed. Good luck with your US based layout. With the diverse landscapes the US has you can pick and choose the terrain and railroads you like best. I appreciate you watching!
Thanks! The buildings were placed temporarily, I'm not ready to install buildings yet. Southern Pacific didn't have any RS3's and I've always liked them, so I wanted one in SP paint. I stripped and painted a Bowers Pennsy unit for my SP RS3.
Thanks Mike! Yes, I had to test the track, and if I'm testing the track I may as well move some cars around. Enjoy your weekend and thanks for watching!
Thanks David! I've had those buildings done for a while. I'm just not ready to permanently install them yet. I set the buildings in place to move the cars around and have it look like the rolling stock had a location to be placed at. The buildings are off the layout again now. Thanks for watching!
@@SouthPacificCoastRailroad The grass, trees and other greenery have yet to be added to my layout, but I've tried to use scenic elements from Northern Arizona. I'm sure parts of California have similar terrain features.
Thanks! The RS3 is a favorite for sure. I love the sound of the old ALCO 244 diesel. SP didn't have any RS3's but I wanted one, so I stripped and repainted a Bowser Pennsy model. I appreciate you watching!
Magnificent catches of the model trains coming by and pass, I like it 5 stars. Thumbs up. Keep up the perfect work, my friend, I just liked and subscribed your channel, Greetings from Portugal to the USA.

Looks really nice. I remember you saying your ballast was scenic express. Is it real crushed stone or something else? I am going to be ballasting soon and trying to decide whether to use AZ rock and mineral or something else. Don’t like the idea of woodland scenics.
The label on the Scenic Express container says "The finest scale stone, meticulously screened and graded." So, it sounds like it is actual stone, but you may want to look into it to be sure.

to add scenic glue around turnouts, do you use an eyedropper?
I use a pipette, it's like an eyedropper. It gives me a lot of control of where and how much glue I apply.
