I've picked this game without any expectation and boy did I get hooked. The difficulty really brought a best of gamer in me. It really doesn't pull any punches!
i played this game over 100h. i bought it on first day on epic. i was waiting for this game like 4 years or sth. it's very addicting. i love the gameplay
Played this a while ago before 6 player characters. I had almost everything maxed except two items at level 2, and it was so difficult, I couldn't beat the castle level because I never had enough ammo or health. I think spawning new enemy types in old levels to counteract upgrade progress is a bad choice. I want to progress, not grind for no ammo in a harder version of what was already brutally difficult. I so wanted this to play like Painkiller.
Absolutely phenomenal game already, I've had it since initial launch and it's so fun and just keeps getting better. Super excited for the rest of the levels and content.
I am looking forward to this being on Steam. I think most of the people I tend to watch on YT have done something on Witchfire over the time it has been on Epic.
Played a lot of it after ea release. Absolutely loved the atmosphere and combat. One of my fav games is Darkest Dungeon so I guess the game was made for me. Great to see it progressing nicely and I definitely gonna grab it on Steam.
It's worth the account, there's nothing wrong with the epic games manager and they give away 2 free games a week. I have over 500 games for free, witchfire is the only game I've paid for on epic. It's worth it.
@Blasted2Oblivion Same, I know people are defensive of Steam and tend to give Epic the finger because their approach of "buying" exclusives to their platform. I say what's the problem, it's not up to the fans whether or not the devs prefer to take a safer bet siding with Epic to guarantee that the project has enough budget to meet their goals as they end up in Steam in the end. I would also love to see more Steam games being released DRM free, which many Epic exclusives are btw (after instaling said titles that is), or on GOG but I understand why many don't and have to accept it.
Interesting that this is a single-player only game, looks like an in-between of Dark Souls and Vermintide (ofc no characters and the stat allocation system seem more tailored to a single player experience).
Epic aside this game is awesome. There’s so much variety in how you wanna build your character and the roguelite elements always keeps things fresh. Special mention to the weapons. They’re all great in some way and is catered to a variety of play styles. Hoping the devs can complete their vision and release the game
They are releasing another map soon but I wouldn’t bother purchasing it until full release. I have it on epic and stopped playing it due to lack of content.
I have a love/hate relationship with this game. On one hand, the moment to moment gameplay is SO GOOD and fun, on the other, the development has just been one lackluster update after another and we barely have any additional content from what was delivered at early access release
First Person Shooters will convert you yet Mort! Saying that though I’d be more than happy to hear your thoughts and reviews for gains out outside of the role-playing sphere, but that is probably because im a gamer of many tastes.
@@MortismalGaming i get it completely, Rpgs are big time investments. Ive been on a FPS kick for the last month and its brought me round to the borderland games that i never really gelled with, now i think they are solid shooters with rpg elements.
I love this game, but it has found itself stuck between two different games that dont work for me. Most of the game is careful FPS and then occasionally there is a spawn you have to run to and the game changes into chaotic FPS. I would prefer one style or the other, but not both together
I reckon this one is a bit like Destiny and Remnant's lovechild; the harder soulslike combat with guns is all Remnant, and the re-use of environments feels more like Destiny's jam.
Looks cool, vibe is similar to New World but obviously not the gameplay. I HATE being so suspicious, but I saw "research timers" in the crafting UI, and I immediately wondered how long until they sell "research accelerators" in the cash shop. Hopefully no MTX when it launches. If so I will check it out, looks really interesting
@@eb9782 I don't believe that will happen, it's a roguelite made by veteran fps devs. To do that would be very telling of how bad the progression in the game is, which isn't the case. You can "reseach" new weapons, spells or artifacts in a couple of games.
The gameplay looks a LOT like Tiny Tina's Wonderland end game dungeon. Aside the graphics, it looks to me almost like a copy. In Tiny Tina, you have melee, you can cast spells and you have different guns. The damage you deal is shown with floating numbers. There are a certain numbers of battlegrounds but the enemies you fight in them are randomized and at the end, you open a chest. Also, between stages, you can chose between making the run harder (to get more loot) or easier.
Looks nice. Gives me a souls vibe.. BUT enemy melee attacks way too slow though or too predictable.. Who the hell swings a bow.. Heheh.. atleast make it looks like some 'bat'leth'.
I really liked how this game looked and the story of it just a shame it on epic games but if does come to steam ill buy it maybe ill wait for the full release in 2025

I might need to re-think what I thought a "souls-like" game is. This looks like an FPS. Are you calling it souls-like because of the rogue-lite mechanics? I thought souls-like games were generally third-person, dodge-heavy, high-difficulty games.
This one supposedly has a high difficulty but also has "bonfires" and losing your "souls"/experience upon death and having to retrieve it. Those are key elements in a Souls game.
@@MortismalGaming I would have considered those things rogue-lite mechanics, except maybe the core leveling system, which I'm not as familiar with. I can keep an open mind tho.
I never said I hated Epic, that's an exaggeration you decided to apply to my statement, I do not like Epic because its an inferior and inconvenient platform they can only get people to use by paying them for it. If they spent their money on improving that platform instead of trying to force people to use it via exclusives than I would be more inclined to use it.
@@MortismalGaming No, No I’m not saying you specifically just more of a general statement from what I saw in the comments. I should have been more specific in that regard. I just see people who hate on EGS because of exclusivity like you mentioned, when PlayStation makes game exclusive to their console, or Nintendo holding onto Pokémon for dear life, and no one seems to complain about that. I just think it’s odd.
The general point is they're trying to force their way into the market by forcing people to use them, which doesn't work because people don't like changing what they do/use. They get mad. Especially when you refuse to improve the product you're making people use to bring in competition to what they were using. The second bit is that Epic is not half as consumer friendly as Valve is. The fact that they're willing to weaponize children to help swing public perception in law suits, that earlier forms of the epic game store searched your filesystem for steam to see what you had installed and who your friends are, the fact that they're trying to force games to use EOS if they're on unreal, and the fact that Epic is fairly anti-linux all add on to the distaste. People don't like it because it's a bad company, with a bad product, that doesn't want to compete with Valve, so their trying to force their way into the market by buying everything people use to make games, like art station, and creep their services into their engine, which is one of the best looking and most popular engines out there.
