Collab?
Job For A Cowboy's Doom EP was definitely a milestone for Deathcore as a genre. They were pioneers of Modern Deathcore by the use of pig squealing and the insane breakdowns. Even though they became a Death Metal band, I respect them for the impact they had and understood why they went in a more Death Metal direction.
I feel exactly the same way 🤘🏻
While they had a *LARGE* significance in Deathcore..
Despised Icon were the _actual_ pioneers.
The Healing Process kicked off everything
I cannot be clear enough on how awesome and important these videos are to the TH-cam Metal community. This is the first channel I’ve found that talks on this level consistently about Deathcore. Anyone can say whatever they want about the genre, but it brought a huge wave of metal and hardcore fans into the scene and gave it new life whether the older folks liked it or not. Being 30 years old now and watching break down the golden years of high school is amazing. 🖤
Such a beautiful comment ! That’s exactly why I’m doing all of this. Here I am, 31 years old , still wearing skinny jeans and recording heavy breakdowns , I owe it all to the amazing MySpace Deathcore Era , and all those amazing talented bands… they deserve the credit for what they accomplished and I want to tell their story in the best way possible 🤘🏻🔥
I completly agree. I'm 41 and remember when deathcore started getting bigger. It was huge for metal in general. It literally changed how i thought of what "heavy" could be and to this day it keeps pushing boundries.
facts
This era of deathcore was groundbreaking.Them, Elysia, Rose Funeral, Salt the Wound to name a few. So fucking good.
I also remember prior to releasing Depths, Oceano had 3 songs on Myspace. The first time I heard the intro to Samael, the Destroyer... Holy fuck haha
Growing up in Glendale, Arizona from 2005-2009 the metal scene was just unreal. JFAC had huge influence on many of the local bands here at the time, including mine. Great times.
That's rad man ! Such a great Era 🤘🏻🔥
I've lived in Arizona my whole life and was never able to see them live 😢
So true, I was in high school in cave creek from 06-10. I remember so many local bands trying to capture lightning in a bottle like JFAC did with doom, it made for such an amazing experience, I wouldn't trade it for anything. I went to high school with a couple of guys from in the eyes of despair and last minute massacre,it was always fun to nerd out with them about deathcore.
I was a youngin at those shows, some of the best times of my life! 🔥
Yeah man, those are prime damn years for this kind of music. People that came after 2009 Just literally have not a damn clue what it was like back then.
God I still remember hearing them in like 2005, 7th grade was never the same haha
hahah yes it truly had a major impact
You and me both
Johnny Davy is one of the best vocalist and performers I got to interview in 2007 at the knitting factory
The band that introduced me to Deathcore! Knee Deep is one hell of a track to introduce someone to the genre!
Yes such a great song 🤘🏻🔥
Entombment of a Machine was the first song I heard from Metal. I just started High School and this friend I just made, discovered metal at the same time, so we would always run up excited to show or introduce each other to the newest song. The best times.
Same here hahah
JOB FOR A COWBOY will forever be one of my all time faves! Their EP was revolutionary for sure
I still listen to the Doom EP and their Genesis album to this day, almost every day in fact.
That's awesome man 🤘🏻🔥
Ruination and down are still awesome works. Also Knee Deep will always have a special place in my heart, since it was the first deathcore song I ever heard and shout-out to the guy that did the SpongeBob music video for it back in the day 🖤
Edit: also, I'm going to a Knights Of The Abyss show tomorrow and you bet your ass I'm going to wear my Job For A Cowboy shirt 😎
That's awesome !! And thanks for sharing your story 🤘🏻
Absolutely loving the throwback nostalgia to high school. I would walk the halls blasting the Doom EP for months staright
Thanks ! Yes I think Nostalgia is a big part of my content haha
This was actually my first experience with metal, like ever. I was 7, it was like 2014. My cousins loved bands like Suicide Silence, Carnifex, Emmure, and one day I come over there and I see the album downloaded on my cousins Ipod, and I ask him what it is. He then said "Oh, that's job for a cowboy. It's deathcore" I put on the first track that popped up, relinquished. I was never the same again.
Oh yeah man. Doom ruled my world and to this day Genesis is one of the best DM albums. Sadly overlooked by "real DM" fans even though it's a flawless listen that sounds amazing and came right before everything started to get edited. Huge gem.
Entombment got me into the genre. Plain and simple, its the best deathcore song of all time.
Man your videos bring me back to that time. Thanks for doing what you do, it means so much to people who grew up with this stuff.
Yet to disappoint on the band selection haha can’t wait to sit through this.
It’s body is coveredddd in hundreds of wiresssss
😤🤘🏻🔥
I've always loved the fact they named it Doom, like they knew it would change the game just like DOOM did in 1993.
i LOVED JFAC's myspace era but i'm gonna be honest, they belonged in death metal. Once i heard genesis i said okay, i get it now. And i started listening to death metal all over again😂 it's kinda funny cause death metal is getting a resurgence (mainly 90s NY) and it's full circle for the second time. anyways love JFAC every album is gold
A video of Fit For An Autopsy? imo the best deathcore band right now, is just perfect without the need of crazy vocals or just 0's, just well made songs using perfectly what they have
They’re on my list 🤘🏻🔥
Nate Johnson was their original vocalist and that was my favourite era of theirs !
@spencer6709 wouldn't say no to a Through the eyes of the dead video too, insanely good for their time!
FFAA is easily one of the most consistently improving bands that has been around a while
Omg this was amazing and so nostalgic. The first time I heard entombment of a machine I replayed it 100000xs to learn how to do vocals.
As a guy who is a JFAC fan, I am glad to see people still didn't forget about them. And I am glad that someone FINALLY talked about the Entombment of a Machine MV, it's my most FAVOURITE MV of all time imo I also think that it's the best mv ever made.
The whole 4:3 aspect ratio, the bad 140p quality and the fast paced editing gave that mundane-y video a massive adrenaline rush. Although I personally think that there alot of videos (whether music videos, yt videos or whatever) that tries to copy the editing style of that video but just fails miserably, I like to call those types of videos "Entombment of a Machine Camera" or "EOAMC" for short.
BTW one more thing about when this video was originally posted on TH-cam, I actually was one of those few people who saw it when it was officially released on TH-cam, it was uploaded in 2008 (or somewhere around that era, can't remember the month and date) by a user named Rodrigo Ranval (not sure if he was involved with that video) but one day that video would completely be deleted. I have no idea why but that's what would happen.
Thanks for the infos ! And I'm glad you enjoyed the video 🤘🏻
Awesome video dude! I was lucky enough to be from Arizona and see them live from the 2004 days. The video was spot on even to my reaction to Genesis!
Great video! Thanks for bringing some more recognition to a band that truly deserves it. You covered a lot of my high school concert experiences as an Arizona native. I have nothing but respect for JFAC going their own way after the deathcore era. The albums since Entombment of a Machine have slayed, and they seemed to follow their own musical integrity. They are like the complete opposite of a sellout band.
Glad you enjoyed it! 🤘🏻🔥 Thanks for the support
I truly appreciate your channel my dude, feel like I’m talking with good friends about the good ol’ days, keep it up!
Thank you so much ! That's the feeling I was hoping to give
Another great video. JOB is another band that has had a huge influence on me. Can't wait for these guys to drop new music. Thank you for this amazing video!!!!!
You're welcome , I mean thank YOU for the support !
THEY RELEASED A SONG TODAY BOYS AND GIRLS
im here for this video awesome one here for it love what are u doing yan keep up the good work man nice job big fan of your youtube channel man nice work man.
All I was listening to at the time was Suicide Notes and Butterfly kisses along with The Curse, both by Atreyu. I have no memory on where I got Doom, Miasma by TBDM, Undoing Ruin by Darkest hour... my life changed at that point. Found Waking the Cadaver soon after, shiiiiit dude, I haven't thought about it as much though thanks for the trip back to high school.
Awesome, then it might interest you to know that Waking The Cadaver is on my video list to do🤘🏻🔥
great video yan! w, literally every video been a fan of those bands for a very long time!
Thank you so much !
This channel is awesome 👌 sick ass flash back to my highschool days good Times
Straight goosebumps. I'm so lucky I got to see them live 💓 I'll never forget it ❤
I really hope you continue to make videos for a long time. The MySpace era of deathcore and metalcore was by far one of the best and most innovative times for the genres. So many great bands popped up and I'm happy to see someone with the same love for those bands. Would love for you to do a video on As Blood Runs Black and the whole scene of bands that signed to Mediaskare like A Breath Before Surfacing or Blind Witness.
Thanks man !! Yes I really have a lot of band to do haha
I've never been a huge deathcore fan, i had a short Suicide Silence phase (RIP Mitch) and also been a bit into the early days of BMTH, but still, i love scene culture and through these type of videos i can learn about the scene years (I never lived those years cause i was born in 2004). Keep the hard work, bro
Hey thanks man, I'm glad you enjoyed !
Discovered them in 2006 while in school chillen with my buddies... Ever since then, they have been my favorite band and I have progressed into a fan of Death Metal alongside their progression.
Amazing videos. Great memories from back in the days
Thank you ! I’m glad you enjoyed it 🤘🏻🔥
One of my fav bands! Kings of Deathcore 🤘🏾
They're legends
it's so crazy that the Doom EP is almost TWENTY YEARS OLD. it's also crazy that i'll be 39 next month. AGHHH! great video dude. just subscribed to your channel. keep doing this stuff! i'll keep watching. 😎
Time goes fast haha and thank you for the support ! 🤘🏻🔥
Saw them at the first Unitarian in Philly with animosity and cattle decap, shit slapped. This is my favorite new TH-cam channel keep ‘em coming 🎉
That's awesome and thank you for the support! 🤘🏻🔥
I was waiting for a new video bro! I have been watching your content in last few days, and it is amazing! Keep up the good work bro!
Greetings from Slovakia 🇸🇰
Thanks a lot !! I really appreciate.. already working on the next one 🤘🏻🔥
Man I love your videos so much I hope you don't stop making videos on deathcore anytime soon
Thank you !! And dont worry, still have so many bands to do 🤘🏻🔥
Got into this band heavy in the late 2000s. I loved it so much and still do. So many good memories.
This is what I tell everyone. I remember being a middle school and experiencing that shift in metal i had never heard nothing like them before. Them despised icon animosity the red chord as blood runs black that was real deathcore to me. Early impending doom came along and that when i saw the second shift Once it became Whitechapel oceano and bands like that i couldn't get into it anymore. Shout out Whitechapel tho everything from the valley till now has been phenomenal
Im glad I found your channel! your content is refreshing to see. If no one else has asked, it would be cool to see some of these videos on bands like Elysia, Molotov Solution, Through the Eyes of the Dead, or some current big hitters like Lorna Shore or Brand of Sacrifice. Keep it up bro 🖤
great suggestions thanks !
Saw them live with hatebreed years back & im ready to hear a new album ASAP as the most recent album was super sick
Ruination is one of my fav albums. Love the direction they took... It's perfection.
Whoaaa, to think this channel couldnt get any better!
Hey thank you so much ! I’m just starting I’ll do my best to improve and offer the best quality possible , a lot more content is coming 🤘🏻🔥
My man finally someone talks about myspace era, you just nailing this !!🔥
Would be awesome to hear about Animosity 🤘
Cheers !!
Hey thanks man ! I appreciate , and yes a few people mentionned them 🤘🏻🔥
man ur like my new favourite channel bro u doing so much great vids that like it is not only like enjoyable to watch but like also it feels like u are also having good time talking about it man its great stuff
wow thank you so much man ! I'm having a lot of fun , this is my favorite project ever and I enjoy every single part of it 🤘🏻🔥
Shot game, everytime u say "like"
@@decay5972 yes I've noticed I'm very often repeating the same words, I'm a bit limited since it's my second language
@@xtheyan Hey man, my comment was directed towards the other guy! Haha!
@@decay5972 ahh okay ahah I wasnt mad or anything it's just I've noticed that I say "like" a lot too
I bought the doom EP YEARS ago found it at a goodwill in AZ and bought it just because of the cover and it still remains one of my favorites to this day.
Loved this, and the Thy Art and Chelsea Grin episodes. Would love to see more (maybe Whitechapel? Or The Faceless? 🤔) keep up the good work man 🤘
It’s in my plans ! Thanks a lot 🤘🏻🔥
I feel what you are saying bro.. I been to hundreds of concerts in my 50 yrs and being a musician myself the band's aren't the problem it's the critics and pigeon holers that want to separate music and art. People need too keep a creative open mind to art and craft and put titles, labels, genre behind them it's holding down creativity with oppressionism
It's already become a routine for me to save your videos till nighttime and having a smoke and eating dinner while I watch 😁 cheers man
I agree about the raw sound from back then I feel like if you were to take these deathcore EPs from back then and re-record them now, even if it would be objectively "better" it would lose a little bit of what made it special. I even have realized that with my own stuff
That's so cool that I'm part of your routine , thanks a lot
JFAC paved the way for my extreme music journey and I really branched out after finding the Doom EP on MySpace!
I'm from Argentina and I see a JFAC performance a long time ago. Still one of my favorites Live Shows ever.
I play a cover of "Entonbment of a Machine" with my first Deathcore band in 2011, no one play that song before, except that night: 3 bands plays that cover in this show hahahahha😂
I love the video!❤
From my hometown Phx, AZ. Kudos to Andrew (guitarist) who wrote Doom.
Also, their first name was Shadows are Statues until Johnny joined. My best friend Caroline dated Johnny and I always got first hand shlt of what was going on.
I was huge Jfac fan!!! Since 2006 they were amazing live in NYC
Was there from the beginning for these guys. Those shows used to go wild!
6:30 I’m definitely guilty of being one of the death metal fans that hated deathcore but now I like it because I heard it so much as a teenager breakdowns are like permanently burned into my brain
So good lol Still listen to their early stuff regularly.
Yes it’s amazing 🤘🏻🔥
I remember seeing Gojira open for Job for a Cowboy!
Can’t wait to see them in September at the Blue Ridge Rock Festival.
Genesis is to this day one of my favorite albums from that era of music. Got me into tech death and stuff
Hey these videos are great. I’m 31 and this was definitely my era of music. I still play the these songs on Guitar and I still have inch and a half plugs lol you should do a video on the acacia strain. They’ve been super influential on the scene and they’re still making music today. Definitely a grandfather band of the genre
They're on my list ! 🤘🏻
taking a joint and a beer from mexico and enjoying this is my second video today on your channel it takes me to my teenage era thanks for this.. dude i saw this guys in mexico city with all shall perish it was fucking awesome...
genesis is a god damn master piece
have you heard about crimson falls or as blood runs black??
Awesome man ! Cheers from Canada haha and yes, As Blood Runs Black is on my list
@@xtheyan i can't wait for it!!
can confirm. born in '92 & was in lots of deathcore bands in my teens & you were considered a joke by elitists. i heard the word "gay" a lot even with my arms around a blonde bombshell scene queen lmao
hahah born in 91 here, totally get what you mean
@@xtheyan haha you get it man 🤜🏼🤛🏼 somebody had to be the vocalist for these group of lads with the well kept straightened backcombed hair….it was gay come to think of it 🧐😂🖤
Cant wait for the Carnifex video
new album coming soon! im waiting
JFAC were my introduction to Deathcore, then Suicide Silence & Whitechapel. Never really saw myself as a Deathcore fan but god damn those bands mid-late 2000s were everything! I loved the direction JFAC took and it was a huge jump to make and made me enjoy Death Metal a hell of a lot more. I don't really dabble in much Deathcore anymore, mostly listen to Metalcore/Tech Death/Melodic Death Metal/Prog Metal (just as examples but listen to a lot of stuff lol) but I have been giving Infant Annihilator a listen just love how chaotic and melodic the music is but it also just makes sense, also laugh at the lyrics Dickie Allen comes up with. Really hope JFAC makes a return someday!
Fuck I havent heard those demo tracks in so long, thanks for the throwback!
Doom EP still through the years on e of the best EVER🔥🔥🔥
Man, back in highschool I was friend with this older guy in the bus and he would make me discover bands once in a while. I remember him making me listen to Entombment of a machine, that day I became a hardcore kid
That's awesome 🤘🏻🔥
Entombment of a machine is just so dynamic
Gotdamn this takes me back to hearing Entombment of a Machine and realizing there’s no turning back 😂
hahah same yes exactly !!
same! I felt this fluttering in my chest and I needed more. Then my friend showed me As Blood Runs Black and it was over lol
The Doom EP is a fucking classic. This better have TerrorFest footage or its not official. 🤣 Great video
The Gloom EP in 2011 gets overlooked so much but they snuck breakdowns into at least two of the songs.
As a fellow metalhead I love anything from JFAC to Judas Priest to Morbid angel to Dream Theater to Mayhem. There's greatness in every genre. Thanks for these nostalgic vids.
Wow never heard that job demo before. Sounds way ahead of its time for 2004
Genesis is an absolutely amazing album.
I remember that one dude who made the Spongebob Music Video for Knee Deep! I thought that was hilarious back in the day!
Cant wait for Moon Healer to Drop. The song they just dropped from the Album is ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Theyre back and better than EVER
For me, Doom, The Healing Process By Despised Icon, and Elysia is what got me into deathcore and pig squeals. Good times 🥲
They shaped so much of my taste for music. Me and my friend were never the same after entombment of a machine haha. AAAAAAARRRHH!!
Such a classic
So cool you brought up Job For A Cowboy. I have a bit of what i feel is a cool story. I was a personal trainer at 24-hour Fitness on Camelback and 32nd I see this dude with gnarly gages and his friend that was very quiet. I said you guys into H.C. they simply said absolutely. Im going to leave one name out because this is true and i do not want ruin any of the postives of this band by what could be takin wrong by others who possibly might not have compassion or never experiencing true genuine addiction.. I handed them my I pod and asked you like any of these bands. Ironically i was listening to Job For A Cowboy. Jonny looks at his buddy and they said you know this band. I said yes. They said do you know us. I saud no. I truly didnt. It was Jonny and another band member. I felt pretty stupid honestly but anyways they asked if i could train them. I saud no doubt just come in when im off work and dont say im your trainer. Johnny really took it seriously and he put some size on. I was always felt proud to see the gains or goals he was making or any of my clients for that matter. I would always get free tickets and Johnny right before they went on stage would get his pump going before he went on stage. Sadly the other band member fell victim to addiction. Im not saying what kind of addiction, maybe it was video game addiction. J.F.A.C. or Johhny worked very hard to keeo that band going. It you notice every album has a different talented guitar player and even drummer, i think ? Well, they tried working with him, but he jacked most of their band equipment in storage and sold it. Hes not a bad dude its just addiction can take away postive descions because of impulse. He was obviously not with J.F.A.C. anymore. Anyways they are and always will be a great band. I lost contact with them but i sincerely wish them all nothing but kind words for them. Oh and Johnny hated squeals thats why he stopped them. I loved them. His band mate said dont bring up squeals to him i saud why ? That was what his band mate saud but not Johhny. I never brought up squeals and respected him by not asking Johhny
Such a cool story man !! Thanks for sharing 🤘🏻🔥 And I really love the squeals haha
I do too brother
I remember being like 14 and people hating on deathcore so much I started trying to be like the older dudes and gained this shitty elitist mentality that I liked death metal so much more even though I didn't understand how anyone could like it better than deathcore. Glad it's being appreciated.
Great vid! Got any original music?
Those vocals are clean as shit. Idc if it's some ignorant, unpolished deathcore. Even live, that guy sounded just like on the album. Breeeeee
Yeah I mean.. what a Beast !! 🤘🏻🔥
No shit aye that live vocal was insane
I was in 9th grade when the ep came out. I still jam that shit. They got way heavier over time
One of the big reasons for their HUGE sound change is lead guitarist Andrew Arcurio left the band just as they were starting to write a full length album. He was (in my opinion) the one responsible for that classic deathcore sound. The song "Entities" was written almost entirely by him (hands down my favorite JFAC song) then he left the band for personal reasons. Remaining guitarist Ravi Bhadriraju's playing had more of a straight death metal vibe, leaving Entities a stand alone track that wouldn't fit in with the overall sound of Genesis, and the track was shelved until later being added as a bonus track to the Metal Blade Re-release of the DOOM EP. What a bummer.
Gloom EP was the best stuff they did for me !
Hope We will see some videos about underground bands Ennui Breathes Malice, With Blood Comes Cleansing, The Crimson Armada etc. They need more recognition for sure.
They’re all on my list ! 🤘🏻🔥
With blood comes cleansing is from down the road from me haha
The Crimson Armada!!! Yooo!
Pretty sure it was like 05 i turned 15 that January and I was a freshman that year and had got my dl so I was ridin around blastin this song and also remember the video
Death Metal is the next step from Deathcore. As you improve you move away from just chugging in drop tuning. Their last 2 albums and the 2 singles in the last month or so are so good.
Love your ingested shirt 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Hm, years ago, this brought me good memories :D I also remember another band that i got on a CD with them from some random dude, it was As Blood Runs black if my memory still serves me. The cowboys blew me, and I was then the ''outsider'' because no-one understood there is something heavier then Dimmu Borgir :D Good ol' times :D
Love that old stuff from JFAC heavy as hell,
Ps. Ur new Filipino Subscriber here 🙏🤘
Heyy thanks for the support 🤘🏻🔥
@@xtheyan your welcome sir , can u please do a video about the rise and fall of DESIGN THE SKYLINE???? thankyou 🙏😇
@@screamtheprayer5515 I’ll add them to the list 🤘🏻🔥
Knights of the Abyss is another great AZ band!
I’m just saying, the Doom EP from JFAC ranks as one of the BEST deathcore pieces of music I’ve EVER heard.
That first picture of them 🤣 holy shit.
your a king man
thanks man haha that's very kind but I'm just a normal dude who really wants to honor the myspace era bands and create a cool community with people who can relate !
I was 15 when I discovered the Doom EP. I wasn't really into Deathcore at this time ( i liked the heaviness, but I missed cleverly written songs in the Genre. Which, to me, should come a few years later with bands like Carnifex around 2010). But man, I loved this EP. The songs had such a good flow, kinda reminding me of Morbid Angel in a strange way. It definetly was my gateway into the genre.
That’s awesome 🤘🏻🔥
