    Great video, explains what is required. I put duct tape at 45 degrees on each side to hold the bottom or the raised top cover to stop it falling 3:32

    Thanks for the video. Replacing the suspension rods solved my out of balance problem. I taped my lid and didn't remove.

    Thanks man, I have serviced an absolute ton of whirlpool cabrio's, but never had the occasion to work on one of these until today. Thanks for the heads up.

    From my observations, the F&P uses an air dampener system instead of friction like a lot of others. its not the springs but the dampening that wears. My rod users a washer and seal on the bottom of the rod that slides into a plastic tube, on yours they are meatal. the air pressure inside the tube dampens the vibration. When the seal wears, air pressure is lost and the drum shakes rattles and rolls. I have not seen a metal tube one so i dont know if the seal can be replaced or "improved" or modified to regain its lost function.
    Another "fix" i have seen is a piece of rubber tube slit, and placed inside the spring to create friction against the coils and provide an increase in dampening that way. Careful selection of the outside diameter of the rubber pipe is required of course, and not too long to allow the spring to compress when the washer is fully loaded. I hope this helps
    Observe, adapt, modify

    Thanks for making the video.
    I would suggest to other to try the free "repairs" for this washer first.
    Move the suspension rods front and rear, I don't think these normally wear out, its just a rod and spring, no shocks, so its worth a try, all you will need is a phillips screw driver.
    Next, Remove the agitator and then the inner drum and wash the old soap scum off the surfaces, it will smell better and run better.
    I thought for sure I needed new suspension rods in my washer but doing both of these fixed it.
    its worth a try and will only take about an hour of your time.

      Nice. Yes, that could be a good option. I watched about 15 other videos before settling on this, but your option seems like it might be worth a try for someone experiencing this.

      Getting ready to try this approach before replacing the rods, and want to make sure I’m doing it right. Is your suggestion to swap the positions of the rods by moving the front ones to the back?

      My GF took it all apart with a flash light and a phillips screw driver, watch a few videos so that you are familiar with how to take it apart. Once it was apart she drained it by scooping the water out. I got out of work and helped her disconnect the water lines and drain and we moved it away from the wall. We then tipped it on its back so we could get to the water pump which is on the bottom front. There was lint, a penny and some clothes pins in the pump so we cleaned it out, it just needs a quarter turn and it pops off the drum.
      Yes, I swapped the suspension rods front and back when I put it back together, inspect your for wear, mine looked fine, its just a plastic cap and a spring with a rod thru it and i saw no friction pads that would wear out like on some other washers. That may have helped things but I really think the "repair" was pulling the inner drum and just really scrubbing and cleaning it. There is a guy on another channel that says that soap grime can build up and cause drag which will fault the motor and cause an out of balance error which mine had. We had it tore apart, cleaned and back together in 2 hours easy, must have run 50 loads through it since with no issues on a 10 year old washer.
      Plan A: Clean and reassemble what you have and see if it works.
      Plan B: Decide if you want to spend $100-200 on repair parts
      Plan C: Buy another washer.
      Good Luck

    Hi there, I have that Out of Balance problem second time in 6 years. The model is WA1060E2 Fisher&Payke 10kg. Where might I get a replacement set of suspension rods that are compatible but not necessarily be Fisher&Paykel brand. Many thanks.

      I’m not sure. I remember they were kind of pricey, but I figured that it would be better than trying to haul the washer out, haul a new one in, pay for it, dispose of it, etc.

    Thank you, this is great and I have been looking for a video for this model. Do you know what the faulty rod looks like? I have the same issue but want to confirm the part is faulty before ordering new rods

    • @jpfath
      @jpfath  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you liked it! I didn't really notice anything obviously different or wrong with the old rods. I think maybe the plastic just strains and wears down a bit. But I'll see if I can post a picture sometime tomorrow.

    • @jpfath
      @jpfath  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry couldn't find a way to attach an image. I examined them again, and didn't see anything clearly wrong. I suspect that either the springs in the bottoms lose their stiffness, or the plastic parts wear down. Sorry I can't give you a clearer test, though! I was definitely in the same boat; pricy part to replace!

      Mine had noticeable leakage from the cylinders. I'm guessing that was my issue and perhaps yours aswell.

    So what exactly happened with the original rods what has worn away and gone wrong exactly?

    • @jpfath
      @jpfath  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not entirely sure. I think they have a spring component, so it’s possible the springs just wore out over time. The other components are mostly plastic, so it’s possible there was a break in one of those. Probably not the best design, but TBH, it’s the only washer I’ve ever taken apart so what do I know? :)

    • @josefbuckland

      @@jpfath the suspension rods have an oil based absorber I orderd a new kit and installed the other day and yes they are not designed to go that long just wish I knew before I bought the machine. It was a 10min fix and $50 on parts but if I knew like buying car it needs a service every xx,000kms well so be. It.

    You might want to inspect other areas around the motor and belts as you may have premature wear that strained the rods. If it is something else, those rods won't last more than a year.
