Installing flush valves on an ecosmart ECO 27 electric tankless water heater
How I added flush valves to an ecosmart ECO 27 electric tankless water heater.
These flush valves will allow me to flush out the water heater and clean scale buildup.
I used flush valves linked below, and to pump, a Superior Pump 1/4 HP submersible pump (see below).

Genie Garage Door Opener - not opening, carriage not engaged to turnbuckle
มุมมอง 27K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This Genie garage door opener was not opening. Someone before me had left the red cord pulled, so the carriage was not engaged to the turnbuckle. It wasn't super obvious how to solve this, since I wasn't the one who pulled the cord. This is probably basic stuff for most of you, but if you're like me, it might save you some time from hunting around for the right solution.

What is the size of your inlet/outlet fittings? Will this valve work on an 1/2” inlet? If not, what do I do about that? Help plz!
I believe the inlet and outlet are both 3/4" so this part wouldn't work directly with a 1/2" inlet. I think 3/4" is pretty standard size, so I'm surprised that you have a 1/2". In that case, you could adapt it to 1/2" on either end, or try to rig something up. Trying a couple Google searches, I've seen some things that look like they could work, under "1/2" valve with drain" - I can't say for sure, but maybe that would work?
Thank you! Very helpful.
Omg!! Thank you so much!!
Thanks for making this video Parker It worked for my Fisher & Paykel WP1068P1 washing machine. Easy to follow the steps, and the last damper was a total pain for me as well, I appreciate the heads up on that!
Great video, explains what is required. I put duct tape at 45 degrees on each side to hold the bottom or the raised top cover to stop it falling 3:32
This is the second time this video has helped me fix my dang opener.....thank you!
I watched other videos, but their system was different than mine. This one worked perfectly!
Will you please tell us what is the thread for "service" port? why it doesn't accept the inlet or outlet connector thread?
Thank you so much for explaining this!
Thank you so much bro 💯😎
Thanks so much for your video. You showed it and explained it really well. I really appreciate you spending the time to do that.
thanks that was the problem!!
Thank you!
This video is short but extremely helpful. Thank you for making it.
Your the man!
Excellent presentation, Parker. Thank You, mac
Exactly my issue
I didn’t realize this garage door didn’t have a slider. OMG thank you for this video and now got my garage door working because I did realize the pull chord had to be put back into place.
great video
Your crap why record if you can't be specific of what your doing instead of your babbling mouth😂
That store bought genie is to light duty for a door of that size and weight. You could order a solid rail from genie or any garage door company who is a genie dealer
Yeah I think you are right. It came this way when we bought the house but I feel like I’m on borrowed time until I have to replace it.
Park how are you doing? Thanks for your making it a little quite a bit easier I think why you’re still getting the extra waters cause it’s supposed to function for two showers so I really wouldn’t concern myself with it.
Some people just don't get it. You did the right thing to improve your water problem. The restrictor goes on the outlet side just like a hydraulic pump system, but you should put a relief valve between your tank output and the restrictor. Just in case the electric on off sensor sticks or a power surge fries things.
Your comment answered my question as to where I should put one on mine. I have a flush valve/diverter with a pressure relief valve on the side of it. I think I’ll put the restrictor on after the diverter but before the flexible hose for obvious reasons. I wonder though if I can just turn the ball valve on the hot water side to slow things down. I have a sharkbite flexible hose set for water heaters and one of the hoses has a valve built into it. Since I already had a valve on the cold water side I just put that one on the hot water side. Maybe try that before opening up the plumbing again.
Thank you! I was able to resolve that same issue. 🙏🙏🙏

Worked the first time... Thank you for the video.
Hey buddy you’re tools did the job no worries and it’s a nice job I have to order these valves to install on mine but in future videos kinda angle the camera as so you’re rear end is not blocking what you’re trying to do you have several blank video shoots overall great work I like it kudos
Haha thanks, good points. I’m not always aware of the angles. Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi there, I have that Out of Balance problem second time in 6 years. The model is WA1060E2 Fisher&Payke 10kg. Where might I get a replacement set of suspension rods that are compatible but not necessarily be Fisher&Paykel brand. Many thanks.
I’m not sure. I remember they were kind of pricey, but I figured that it would be better than trying to haul the washer out, haul a new one in, pay for it, dispose of it, etc.
Great video helped with the problem
Wrap the thin Teflon tape 10 times around the thread before making the connection. Some guys will use dope on top of Teflon tape for water tight seals
Thank you for this
Electric tankless water heaters suck. There’s not many in NJ but I don’t like them. Just go gas and you’ll have no problems
Its a very good idea to have 2 big blue water filters on the house main in one sediment one carbon. And My house is getting hit with 65 lbs of pressure from the city which is very high and hard on all the fixtures and pipes. I installed a regulator on the main in that's at 45 lbs alot easier on the house piping and my Eco is happy. if you have an old house and some legacy piping it will like that reduced pressure and you wont miss it. And for gods sake insulate all exposed hot water piping from the eco.
I know you said it won't pump all the water out, but how low does it pump down to?
It's pretty low; I think the spec says 1/4 of an inch, and that seems about correct. It's just that if you want it bone-dry, you'll need a sponge or something else to dry it. You can also use the drains in the hot tub to drain out the last bits, once the pump has done the bulk of the work. Also, in this particular hot tub, there are some curved seat sections that retain some water, so I used the sponge on those too.
I think you should have installed it on the inlet side not the outlet side
Wrong- you want the water heater to stay full of water. Restrictions on inlet side can cause chatter.
Should of put tge restrictor on the inlet side
You might be right; in my mind, I was thinking, it's probably better to make sure the heater stays "full" to avoid overheating, but I suppose the flow coming in and the flow going out are going to be the same. Do you have more reasoning for putting it on the inlet side?
I knew it was something simple Thank you
Where can I get the same regulator you install
I added a link to the video description. The only place I could find it was supplyhouse. Good luck!
Very informational video. I'd check out some videos on how to plumbers tape though.
Yeah I think you’re right. Could use some more practice. Might have been well-served to use some pipe dope as well. The good news is, in the last several months since it’s been installed, it doesn’t seem to leak during usage.
@@jpfath no leaks is really all that matters 😁. I've had plumbers tell me anywhere between 3 and 10 wraps. I find 3-4 wraps around the pipe sufficient.
@@moroniccolonic3959Teflon tape comes in different thicknesses. The cheap thin stuff use 10 wraps. The thicker stuff I think you can get away with 4 wraps
I had an electrician say you can’t put all those wires together in one conduit but every Eco Smart I’ve seen installed is done using only one conduit. Thoughts?
@@simpleagain1 I’m not an electrician (and I paid one to run the circuits) so I can’t say for sure what’s kosher, but it seems to work ok from my year and a half or so of experience with this one. Can’t remember if I show in this video, but it’s actually 3 separate 240V circuit breakers and circuits.
I have the same tankless water heater, I'm about to buy the isolation valve kit and possibly an in-line scale inhibitor to install, debating on the latter. I'm not a plumber either, so no worries about the perfection, we've all been there! Thank you for posting your installation!
Hey guys just fyi don’t waste your time with the EcoSmart 27 unless you just have 1 bathroom, 1 kitchen sink, and 1 washer. It says it will handle 2 bathrooms and it kind of does but not very well at all. With the eco 27 in a 2 bathroom home, you’ll get occasional bursts of cool water or Luke warm water if both showers are running, and even worse if you’re doing laundry and dishes at the same time If you have 2 or 3 bathrooms, a kitchen sink, washer etc spend the extra few hundred dollars and get the EcoSmart 36, you’ll thank me later. The eco 36 handles more gpm (gallons per minute) up to 8 gallons per minute, and it also has an inline flow restrictor that can limit the gallons flowed through the unit based on your needs and the water temperature in your area. Colder areas & winters in the U.S. like in Minnesota have colder water than other areas of the U.S. like in the south Florida. So if you have really cold water you’ll want to limit the flow a little more so that the water can stay the same temperature consistently. It has multiple flow restrictors from 3 gallons up to 8 gallons. But you get more hot gallons per minute, and it handles the entire house. Keep in mind the EcoSmart 27 needs 3 breakers, and the EcoSmart 36 needs 4 breakers. Both units can make your LED lights flicker a little bit but it’s not that bad. If you have incandescent bulbs they won’t flicker. I’ve had my unit for years and it works great. I also recommend getting a water softener for your house. My EcoSmart unit hasn’t clogged once with calcium deposits, unlike my father’s. My father doesn’t have a water softener like I do and he has to get his EcoSmart unit serviced and cleaned out yearly.
So what exactly happened with the original rods what has worn away and gone wrong exactly?
I’m not entirely sure. I think they have a spring component, so it’s possible the springs just wore out over time. The other components are mostly plastic, so it’s possible there was a break in one of those. Probably not the best design, but TBH, it’s the only washer I’ve ever taken apart so what do I know? :)
@@jpfath the suspension rods have an oil based absorber I orderd a new kit and installed the other day and yes they are not designed to go that long just wish I knew before I bought the machine. It was a 10min fix and $50 on parts but if I knew like buying car it needs a service every xx,000kms well so be. It.
Thank you! I had a Genie 3155D, and this worked perfectly.
Glad to help!
Great video. Thanks.
Glad to help!
The carriage locker is in the lock position, but it is still not engaging. Is that an adjust problem, or some defect, or the belt is installed in a wrong direction? I got the problem solved: The engaging pin is not in although it is in the engaged position. The solution is: Step1, Disengage; Step 2. Lift up the garage door manually first; Step 3. Put it in the engaging position; Step 4. Close the garage door using remote, or other switch.
Thanks for posting! I haven’t run into that, so I’m glad you could post a solution for others.
I'll give this a try again. It may be an aftermarket part issue.
You're a rockstar!❤ I watched several videos & yours helped me to see & understand the process.TU
I will say if you are on solar and want to use a electric tankless hot water tank I would suggest using the point of use models as they draw less electricity therefore draining your batteries a lot slower most whole home electric tankless water heaters start at 17 kwh and higher and they will draw that much electricity even if you are only taking a shower most point of use tankless electric water heaters are 8 to 11 kwh and are only drawing that much electricity because it is on a single closed loop system like a bathroom
Yes, it’s true that my setup isn’t really directly running on my solar panels; I’m just benefiting from solar net metering. If you wanted a true direct-solar or off-grid setup, you’d probably be better-off with a hybrid heat pump model. That said, I haven’t tested this, but the heater shouldn’t be using the full 24 kW of power for a small stream of water. I’d wager that it’s roughly as efficient for a given amount of water heated to a given temperature. That said, my setup requires heating the water in the house’s pipes, so that’s a downside.
So f**&%ing simple. You are the man!
Helped a lot. Good job.
With solar panels the whole game changes as you can make your own fuel unlike propane, but solar is slow and not friendly with on demand electric heaters unless you like to use grid power.
Yeah that’s true. We have solar but grid-tied, so it’s more of a “net usage” for us. For off-grid, you’d probably be best with the heat pump electric water heater. I think some of them will even let you schedule it, so you could have it heat the water when the sun is out!
