I bought a Smith & Wesson 5906 a couple years ago. Instantly fell in love with the old 3rd Gens and started collecting them. I wish they'd remake them into S&Ws "Classic" line!
The some NYPD officers still use these as they are approved and designrd for thier off duty carry. Only reason I know is because I purchased one along time ago from Aimsurplus and researched it. I didn't like it so I got rid of it.
Nice gun. I have a few 3rd gen Smiths. Thankfully there are still companies that make all metal autos. Sig and Beretta to name a few. And of course a million 1911 companies. Thanks for the video. Btw, these are getting harder to find because people are snatching them up. They’re great guns. In terms of holsters, I’ve found any leather Sig P226/p220 holster will work for the 3rd gen Smiths.
8 rounds of 9mm and a 2.5 inch barrel...NO THANKS. I'd rather carry a K-frame .357 snub at that point. Now some of the full size S&W 3rd gen autos are ok though.
Love the 3953. Too bad it didn’t survive the Glock, polymer frame, striker fired tidal wave that sucked all of the beauty and style out of modern handguns. Flat black, blocky and ugly.
I really like the 3900 guns, and remember when the "slick slide " popped up when I was in college around 1991/1992. Thanks for this review.

Dose look cool and something to say about the durability of fully metal
Nice! I wish S&W would add a 3rd Gen to their "Classic" line. I bet they'd sell a bunch of them.
😀😊😀
3 River Kydex makes custom holsters for 3953s if you want to carry it.
Wish S&W still made the 3rd Gen guns. I like them so much better than m&p’s lol
The 3rd Gen S&W pistols are just cool. All three gens are cool, and have a history to go along with them. 👍👍👍💥
Mr Pink would love that gun
Why am I Mr Pink?
Nice cultural reference.😂
Love old smiths. I have a model 59, 659, 5906, 5903, 5953, 6953, 6906 I believe

I'm surprised there is no double strike.
I miss the S&W 3rd gens...
Bought one 10 years ago carry it every day also own a 915S&W GREAT GUNS.
I wish i would have kept mine...i had an all black one 4"barrel ...dont remember the exact model
Smith and Wesson Shield from 2001
I love the 4506 and 1006
oh those are 2 of my favorites as well! Both are 'boat anchors' lol
I didnt even know dao without 2nd strike capability was even a thing. That almost makes me uncomfortable.
At that rate it operates just as a striker fired gun or an internal hammer fired pistol. They are neat guns
Nice pretty cool old smith
