Since Tanglewire trigger resolves first, you can float your mana first, let the trigger resolve, and then use that mana to pay for the mana vault trigger.
@@mrTjstephens1 I bought a label maker half with the intent to use it for normal things and half with the intent to use it for my commander deck boxes, and now they go and do this? Pfah!
I loved watching Wheeler play this deck! If he (or anyone else) is looking for 1 card to slot in to make it less complicated to win I'd strongly suggest Nexus of Fate. Since this is already an isochron scepter deck, it provides an alternate usage with scepter with Scepter + Mystical Tutor + Nexus of Fate (9 mana loop combo but not that hard to achieve with Urza clearly). In a pinch its a 7 mana cantrip (which isn't the greatest in the world) but it can be cast on its own with the Urza player having enough mana to attempt another turn as well. With infinite turns win in any number of ways, from ulting Tezzeret to just making a giant construct and swinging in. I think its a great flex choice for iso-rev decks as a alternative usage for isochron that only takes up 1 slot and provides some decent utility.
16:50 With Active/Non-Active player, wouldn't his Mana Vault untap trigger go on the stack first, and then tangle wire? He could float all the mana, let tanglewire tap nothing, then pay for the trigger to untap Mana-Vault right?
I think it probably comes from a traditional competitive background like standard and modern. Tablets can die and dice can get moved. Pen and paper helps track all that for health
My playgroup is putting together cEDH decks to try out, I'm really looking at Pako & Haldan. Looks like the decklist in the description was updated over a year ago, does there happen to be a more recent list? Would love to use it as a starting point!
Firstly, love the spike feeders content, secondly, weird request but is there any way to control the camera zooms in your videos? It almost gives me motion sickness when it keeps zooming in and out when it’s focused on you guys when you’re talking.
I always like throwing a Capsize in my Urza decks. Unlimited mana turns into unlimited Capsizes with buyback -> bounce everyone's permanents -> bounce and replay Urza to get infinite constructs...win.
@jakemcmillan7728 tbh if you missed the trigger and someone says that you "missed a trigger" that does not apply with esper Sentinel my point stands when wheeler mentioned the trigger arron should have drawn a card now if it was a rhystic study sure but it wasn't your responsible to provide the correct board state as humanely possible And for the comment on depends how competitive it is wtf do you mean my guy it's called competitive edh for a reason
@@CensorOCE no. Competitive REL (the highest level, which is why I specified because there are different levels of playing cedh) does not care if the trigger says may or not. Every single trigger can be missed. It just depends on if it’s a ‘detrimental’ trigger or not. In these instances the judge will usually ask the players if they’d like to put the trigger on the stack. In legacy players use this to advantage with something called chalice checking. If my opponent has a chalice of the void out on 1 and I try a brainstorm it is on my opponent to trigger their chalice otherwise my Brainstorm will resolve and it doesn’t matter that there is no ‘may’ on Chalice of the Void.
So I don't think anyone noticed, The One Ring only offers protection if he cast it, Whir of Invention only places it on the battlefield. In the grand scheme of things it wouldn't matter since he'd just spin Urza until he could cast it but its something I noticed during his explanations.
Does the Urza player not kill themselves after “drawing their whole deck” then playing the time spiral since he still has to draw 7 from his deck and Narset is out?
Hi, spikes! Great content but have to call out some weird zoom thing that is happening in the last few videos. You can see some example at 1:22, 1:45, 2:11.
Hey I would really love if you lads could brew up, or have someone play cEDH with Taii Wakeen, Perfect Shot Looks like you could make a sweet burn deck / infinite mana kill just from the commander + 1 burn/ping source.
It doesn’t matter for the combo, but Wheeler would not have protection from everything because The One Ring wasn’t cast. This was an awesome game though!
Tbh the way Shivam pronounces it is correct, it's just not the "american" way to pronounce it. If we all pronounced it the way it would be said in its polynesian origin, we would say it the way Shivam does. So I would try to be open minded instead of peeved :)
Our new editor was experimenting with some jump cuts, I think this is the last video that uses them, so you should see more smooth zooms in the future. :)
Hilarious seeing Wheeler combo off in the most unnecessarily convoluted way after being grumpy all game 🤣
Getting to see the dark side of Benny "Benjamin 'Wheeler' Wheeler" Wheeler with those triggers...makin 'em learn
Has there been a tour of the Spike Feeders...uh, lair? Many Magic the Gathering Players ask the question "Where do the stairs go?"
Afaik that's just Jims basement. So probably they go up to the Lapage household dining room^^
What are "stairs"?
They go upstairs
Soooo…Lightning Bolt?
Love the really convoluted mono-U wincon

The one Blue deck that doesn't run Thoracle... Wins with Thoracle! I love it!
Wheeler describing this win is the Conspiracy Map meme from It's Always Sunny
And it's still way simpler than Canlander Eggs. :'D
Thanks for having Wheeler. It's great to have him here.
Since Tanglewire trigger resolves first, you can float your mana first, let the trigger resolve, and then use that mana to pay for the mana vault trigger.
While true, the tanglewire taps the vault anyway so there's no reason to do that here
Wheeler really is something man. I love watching you guys play. Excellent job.
Like this comment to have keepable 7s
My deck's a 7
@@Zenith118my dear friend, all of our decks are a seven 😂
This is the equivalent of seeing a “disc charger” on the bench behind a tee pad at a disc golf course 😂
I aint passing this up. But also, I don’t think commander players mull enough
It always is either bad 7s or good 5s
Wheeler: IT'S TURN TWO! YOU HAVE SEVEN MANA!
Also Wheeler, has 8 mana on board end of turn 2.
10:38 is the saltiest I've ever seen Wheeler in one of these.
It's a bit salt not real salt
That new game genic box looks great to show off commander alters
Or just so you can know what deck your grabbing!

Yup. Mana Vault's untap trigger always triggers even if it's untapped.
Thanks to all these videos I'm really interested in building a Urabrask cEDH/powerful EDH deck. Great video!
What a weird, creative way to win! Thanks for (mostly) explaining it.
Masterclass!! Thank you @wheeler!
I’m not even out of turn one and think this is one of the best episodes yet.
I stole my girlfriend‘s phone and subscribe to your guy’s channel. I got you guys.
🫡
It's true I did!!
LOVED watching the stax deck do its thing!
The collective turn one was absolutely bonkers. Totally nuts.
Got to love the classic blue "let me explain how I won" vs just bringing peoples life total to zero like normal decks haha
Shivam may be a natural but I do love the idea that he's a CEDH shark
I need to see Shivam play Canlander now
When he said Delney-Esper was a nonbo I was so confused, thank you Editor for keeping them honest.
I loved all of this so much!!!
Thanks for being here, it's great to have you
In my best Wheeler voice: that was kinda hot.
Great game! I can see why Shivam and Wheeler Love Magic
Looking forward to this, I'll always root for a Pako and Haldan build, come on Shivam
I like yalls channel and like how yall go back and forth between casual and cedh games but why do yall use paper and pencil? Just curious.
We found that if we didn't all track everyone's life totals, that about half of the time someone would be off by the end of the game.

I was definitely expecting the last turn to go "infinite mana, now Proteus Staff my Construct to stack my deck"
Love to see urza. I main urza and the win was kinda more complicated than it needed to be but still the same idea. Great game!
Wait, are we no longer going to be solid as a rock?
We, as mere humans, do not deserve The Benjamin Wheeler.

Why not tap the t3feri for the tanglewire?
It's only artifact, creature or land.
Ben's whole mood this game was legendary

Super spike player Shivam is back!
Okay that Game Genics Squire looks sick!
How's that for a 20 percenter 😉
And we thought Urza was a dead deck in cEDH.... LOL!
18:50 Any thoughts on Aaron's Esper Sentinel missed trigger, only to be called out by Ben, the player that triggered it?
Sadly he should still draw no matter what its not a may ability

He's bouncing it and recasting it as he uses it to draw his deck. So he doesn't have it the first time, but he does after the second!
The mention of brain freeze at the end read my mind, because of the storm count
Can the playmats make it too the store at some point?????
Working on it!
The squire plus seems great but I fear it isn't solid as a rock
Love wheeler. Nice video
Commenting for Mr. Al Gorithm
@Wheeler What? You mean I shouldn't bring my Gitrog primer to a tournament and read it while playing the game?
I like adding a Aetherflux Reservoir for the easy win line in Urza. Your storm count is infinity anyway.
Love the new intro omg
Wait a minute: who are the pretzel guys?
Does the Urza player not kill themselves after “drawing their whole deck” then playing the time spiral since he still has to draw 7 from his deck and Narset is out?
Narset's ability only applies to Ben's opponents, and Timetwister shuffles his hand and graveyard into his deck before he draws.
@@TheSpikeFeeders Ah yes, i can hear the professor in my head saying “reading the card explains the card”. Ha! Oh well, this is why i stink at cEDH 😂

I'd go on by saying that Wheeler Is my favorite guest in this show. 😊
we're not solid as a rock anymore?? aw man :(
Let me guess, that was probably the first time Wheeler picked up the deck 😂
Turns out it was lol
wheeler, playing urza?? this is as PEAK AS IT GETS
Omg Shivam is hooked on the c lol
Should have tapped the carpet instead of the sol ring
Carpet of Flowers notably is neither an artifact, a creature nor a land.

We call that the Wheeler effect.
Wheeler squeaks out wins with garbage decks in competitive formats. Winning with a good deck (even formerly good) is not unexpected. Lol
