Appreciate your support!
Amazing mix
I was actually about to ask if there was a way to donate without some site taking a % of it. I had never heard of ko-fi until just now, and I'm glad they don't take any cuts.
I can't tell you how many times I've had this playing while doing thumbnails. I might as well have a script that automatically opens this video whenever I open Photoshop.
@@Milesam h
Ryland, did you have another mix like this w Donkey Kong as the cover art? Istg there was a mix you had w this one Super Monkey Ball song that I came back to over and over
this is exactly the video I was talking about!! LOL straight flames
Didn't know at the time that all the music I was hearing from the games in this era would influence my musical taste so much going forward. God I miss this era of sound so much.
Very relatable. Haven't really though about that.
Well said.
I feel this as well.
Definitely.
Inspired my musical taste, and the music I now make.
Right, no wonder I love drum and bass beats in just about anything now
Drum & bass/Jungle was very popular in the 90s which is probably why a lot of games soundtracks from that time sound like an ecstasy club mix
Buck Bumble was the standout for this, UK Garage and Jungle soundtrack
@@c0wqu3u31at3r Imma check that ty

@@c0wqu3u31at3r just checked this out absolutely mad haha
have you heard the DDR soundtracks from that time - they are some of the best hyperactive jungle tracks out there xD
Let's take a moment to appreciate the smoothest track-to-track transitions known to humankind.
Damn, I didn't even realize how silky smooth they were until I looked at the comments.
ya it made me question if these were the original songs or the dnb element was a remix
@@Aeoxmusic see, you learn something every day!
As for the transitions, its not just about the key, theres much more to harmonic content and some tracks even in the same key can sound very off when mixed together. Give this guy some credit, he has done a great job mixing these.
@@Aeoxmusic I love how you're so unimpressed that you can't help but say it in multiple comments.
Aeox is the least fun person at parties in all of humankind
The transition from Paper Mario to 1080 snowboarding is so mindblowing I thought it was just one full song. Goated mix
I'm not there yet but the Holy shit the Bomber 2nd attack medley
Fuck yeah. A lot of the transitions are actually pretty dope, ngl
It's remarkable how well this music holds up outside of a videogame context, just legitimately great dnb and jungle music
Honestly, I was confused why this was called a N64 mix when I didn't recognize any of the games it was from at first. I thought they were just good standalone drum & bass songs. The good music got me to stay long enough to figure out it actually is from the console and games I've played lol.
fr bro been listening to this shit on repeat for like 2 months now
Good game, excellent soundtrack
It’s aged remarkably well but it was much cleaner sounding than the dnb tracks of the time. It was kind of hard to take it seriously too because it was a video game soundtrack. It was about placement and context - tracks needed DJs to play them to gain legitimacy. The cues for what made a track fit within a scene can also be very subtle and difficult to differentiate in retrospect. Music scenes were very rigid in the 90s, similar for hiphop beats on video game soundtracks in the 90s - they have aged well listening today but at the time they sounded cheesy. There are lots of rap acts on Spotify that never made it in the 90s, it’s hard to remember they sounded like pale imitations of big artists of the time because some of the tunes are quite good and give the same nostalgia value.
Coming back to these tunes I think the lack of direct comparison to tunes of the time, convergence of genres and less rigid genre boundaries have helped this sound fresh today.
wait from some of the comments im gathering these are not remixes and just the outright game track?
the transitions are crazy smooth. didn't even realize some of them were distinct songs because of how tastefully organized this comp is. awesome job ^_^
True!
That first one from Milky Lake to MK64?? _Spine-tingling._
@@Aeoxmusic thank you! i hope your music can do just that for me someday. edit typo

I am a bit shocked not to see any Blast Corps ost in this list, seems like a no-brainer. P.s. I'm not talking any shit, this set is S tier and I am very grateful to have found it.
@@Annoying_Customer Blast Corps had some great breakbeat and industrial sounding music. I didn't find a place for it in this mix but other mixes for sure.
All those bomberman tracks give major nostalgia. Shame they didn't have games like BM64 or BM Hero after that console generation.
thanks for the time stamps
I didn't realize how much drum n bass / jungle music were in these N64 games. No wonder I like jungle so much! This was a great mix! Well done!
Lmao I wish these games had these remixes in em
Besides Bomberman Hero, that shit does just sound like this
ya DnB was HUGE back during the N64 time
@@ImmaDoWhatIWant These aren't remixes lol
Not only N64! Many 90's games in general had DnB/Jungle influence, take a listen to some PS1 games here in timestamps: 0:22; 15:15; 29:36; 1:07:16 th-cam.com/video/lsile6MA2QU/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=NewGamePlus

The musical equivalent of amphetamines
This mix is insane. Could be at a DJ set and no one would have the slightest clue it was from the N64 haha.
The opener is kinda video gamey
This mix flows from track to track so well, it's actually nuts. Glad I stumbled on it, it deserves wayyyy more views.
How much shit did you take?
Yeah I kept looking back and seeing new tracks but not noticing a shift at all. Surreal.
The transition between Shooting Star Summit and Lost at 4:45 was *masterful*, now I want to hear a version of SSS with those drum fills the whole way through

This is literally blowing my mind. I had no idea this music went this hard.
Bomberman Hero was so cool. I grew up with an older brother who was a DJ at the time so the soundtrack really appealed to me. The composer (a Japanese woman) is still proud of her work and regularly listens to remixes of her work from Bomberman Hero.
There really isn't anything like bomber man heros music, still listen to it today. Glad she's proud of her work 👏
How do you know this? Who is she?

The transition between Shooting Star Summit and Lost 1080 is simple, but sooo~ well executed.
The transitions are absolutely impeccable.
This is a mix for the ages. Literally, it preserves this music in a manner that many younger people will listen as well.
This is the most based playlist I've seen in a long time. As someone who spent over a month perfecting a mix not even as long as this one I can respect the amount of work you must have put into this. Getting tracks to play well together in the transition is always the most satisfying part for me.

When Redial dropped I could physically feel myself being sucked back in time. The Friday night I rented Bomberman Hero and got hooked for hours by that hyponotic dnb... priceless.

It's mindblowing how well all of these songs flow into each other. N64 devs had some geniuses in their music depts
My god. My jaw dropped through out the course of this whole mix. I was born in 87 so the 90s nes era was my time for gaming. Talk about blast from the past.

WOW 😳 Bomberman redial!!!!!! I haven't hummed that theme in sooooooo long! Brings back a good memory of when we spent time at a cousins house and played the N64 Bomberman. That ost had me hooked and I used to hum that every now and then. Thank you for this 🙏🏽

Studying to this music is wild bro. I'm here taking notes like i just did a line of coke and working in wallstreet in the 80s
I always had a PlayStation but all my neighbors had N64s and I would second hand play all their games and these tracks are just taking me to a very distinct time and place. Having more information about music and influences it’s crazy how all the stuff I love is some how connected. Very serendipitous. Also Bomberman Hero has some insane beats I’m going nuts over here

never expected to hear Nagano Olympics 98's music again lol
it's so catchy
"lost" is a proper liquid/intelligent dnb tune. if it would have been released back in the day it would have been considered a classic by now
the whole 1080 soundtrack is full of bangers it's insane
Bomberman Hero was a whole ass vibe bruv
Just want to say I appreciate the obvious effort you put into not just the research/collation stage of both N64 mixes, but also the actual mixing. A lot of people would just dump all the tracks front to back with little thought or cohesion but you've blended them together as if you were mixing live and you even added some extra samples like the Joanna Dark Area 51 line or the combination of the Mario 64 Game Over music with the Continue? sample from Smash Bros. Your extra work turned them from fun nostalgia mix tapes I'd listen to once or twice to genuinely banging mixes that will be repeated for many years to come.
thank you for your comments! those details you mentioned were really fun to do and it's nice to hear you appreciated it.
the Perfect Dark samples still make me smile
Never realised how much jungle there was in games. Was listening to the djs back then dreamscape tape packs for the win!
Holy crap man, I was just sitting there with this in the background surfing a different site and then the first transition from Milky Lake to MK64 Results just absolutely floored me. So very well done. Excited for the rest of the seamless transitions I hope!
I have kinda discovered jungle/dnb through this video, and now I'm very fond of the genre. I love to discover new dnb playlists, particularly video game music. BUT. Now I realize that none of them is as good as this one. The transitions/tracks order is exceptional, and the choice of tracks is so good; I've discovered so much bangers, and now every track feels familiar and particularly enjoyable. Thank you so much!!!
thank you for the nice comments! discovering music is one of my favorite things so I'm happy for you. i've done other vgm jungle mixes on this channel but explore as much as you can. these youtube channels upload great music: MickeyBeam75, skunk-e-1, UnXplored DnB, and there is a channel that uploads sets from raves from tape but i can't remember the name.
