Jungle is the ultimate soundtrack for when you're trying to finish a project while hopelessly sleep-deprived. Fast-paced and varied enough to keep you aware, but not so chaotic or loud that it monopolizes your few active brain cells.

for anyone unaware, all the characters featured onscreen are from "slap happy rhythm busters" which is one of the most vibrant looking titles on the PSX
(quick edit to elaborate: i feel like including a few fun facts about the game because it never really caught on with a lot of people, which is sad because the game's pretty cool.)
-it was one of the first games to employ cel-shading which was pretty rare to see out of a psx game at the time
-the game was a 2.5d fighter (3d characters on a 2d plane), and very possibly the first of it's kind, i can't find any other fighters of that style before this game came out, so there's no way for me to be 100% sure, it definitely predates the rumble fish by a while
-level 3 supers are performed by playing a rhythm minigame, similar to rise's super in P4U2
-the game features reworked characters from another fighting game made by the same devs called "vs."
it's a neat game that definitely deserves your attention if you're looking for something different to try out, there's not much documented on it but guilewinquote has a short video on it, and the super best friends played it on their fisticuffs series, so consider checking those out if you want to see more on this game

Additional info for anyone who's also trying to find these tracks
(Also since I notice people keep asking, the game is Slap Happy Rhythm Busters, and no the girl on the thumbnail is not Chun Li, apparently her name is Mia)
11:15 This also goes by "Trippin High" by Bjorne Lynne
17:02 This is the Ending 1 Theme of Diver's/Dolphin's Dream
34:02 Apparently this was done by Debbie Harry of Blondie? Cannot confirm that but that's what I've read
1:08:08 This is not track 53 of DDR 5th Mix, but "Ending 1 (Music List)"
1:33:11 There is very little of this game on TH-cam and as far as I can see, 0 uploads of its OST
1:46:28 This also goes by "Wait" by Waterloop (Or possibly "Waterloop" by Wait?)
2:14:39 Also called "Omni Trio - Secret Life"
2:23:11 Done by the Japanese band "The Sleepwalk", also shows up on their album "Phantasmagoria I"
    - All songs done for "Planet DOB" (How do you think, sometimes I breathe, some kind of love, etc.) Are done by the Japanese band Date of Birth
    - Will fill with any additional info if I can find it for some other tracks here
8:00 This is "Oingo Boingo Book" from "Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future", it should play in the game's Extras menu (Almost thought this was mislabeled, could not find it on the OST playlists and it sounded nothing like the rest of the soundtrack, but it is there)
1:08:56 Also not track 20 (track 30 on the database I'm using), titled "gentle stress (AMD SEXUAL MIX)" by MR. DOG feat. DJ SWAN
The next three are not corrections or renaming, but some interesting artists you may have heard of elsewhere
0:42:34 and 1:04:39 were done by Kemmei Adachi, who has also composed (among others), for Freedom Wars , the Locoroco and Grand Turismo Series, and funnily enough the infamous Japanese only arcade game Half Life Survivor
2:07:40 was done by Zuntata, the house band of Taito, known for their eclectic sound. You may have heard their works in notable Taito franchises such as Space Invaders, Arkanoid, or Groove Coaster, among others
0:29:05 was done by Haroumi Hosono, perhaps best known on TH-cam for his 1984 work "Watering a Flower" which was commissioned by the retail company Muji. Outside of this, he inspired genres such as Shibuya-kei and city pop, and is the leader and founder of Yellow Magic Orchestra

      - "menu theme (toca 2 touring cars)" is actually EZ Rollers - Retro th-cam.com/video/9ySxxVOHW7A/w-d-xo.html
      - the Wait/Waterloop (whatever) tune was written by Prob. aka Dice

@@80psu nice bro! Add any others if you find some. Nice catch on Toca 2, that and some other songs sound like very recognizable liquid, so I'm wondering if there's some others that are licensed out. The Rollcage Stage 2 OST for example seems to be all established people in the space (Omni trio themselves, Aquasky, Dom and Roland, etc). Still trying to find some of those DDR tracks too.

It's amazing how much DnB/Jungle was on PSX. I knew it too back then, but there's so much more. There were some songs from a weird game called Gekitotsu Larc En Ciel (from the J-Rock Band Larc En Eiel) I was trying to rip, now it's so easy to rip the songs. But I've also been listening to Jungle since the 90's, though I was in NYC and it was super hard to get tracks here back then. Apparently it was even popular in Japan at the time, too, and it makes for very good video game music. But I never stopped listening, and still do.

I was so surprised to hear Sentidub in here. It's such an obscure game (one of my all time favourites), and the track isn't even from the game lol, it's from an obscure soundtrack CD of remixes that I believe only came with the PC version (and only in Germany?). I've listened to it ten million times, it's very cool to hear it here.

THANK YOU FOR INCLUDING SPEED PUNKS! when I was a kid and could only afford a couple of games, that was my most-played for ages. there was a while where my memory card slot on my PlayStation was being finicky, so I couldn't save/load files. I was also only allowed an hour of gaming time per day, so every morning I'd start Speed Punks from scratch, beat every race and unlock Beemer/gold wheel mode, then bask in the glory of the first lap or two of a race before being told to shut things off. Long tangent but as soon as I heard this song in the mix I got so excited! Loving your mixes 🤩
