At 1:37 I don't know why or how the artists achieved this, but they somehow managed to invoke a sense of Sadness in Vader. His Helmet makes him expressionless, and I always love it when Legends or Canon achieves that effect.
The fact that Luke has very similar emotions in response to the perceived lies of the Jedi is very telling. Luke is not all that different from his father and could very easily have gone down the same dark path that Anakin followed. But Luke made a different choice. He was aware that his anger and frustration could potentially send him down that path, and make him, as Yoda put it, an agent of evil. But Luke made a different choice. He embraced the light and became the instrument of Vader’s redemption. And that is the difference. I’m a teacher, and I have often told my students that anger is a natural human emotion, and I will never tell them that they are wrong for feeling angry. Rather it is what they choose to do with that anger is where right and wrong come into play. Anakin gave into his anger and let it twist and corrupt his mind, while Luke was able to acknowledge what he felt, and make the choice to rise above it.
I love seeing Luke struggling with himself and juggling the duality of his destiny after being abandoned by Obi-Wan and Yoda. Classic Skywalker trials and tribulations, but it adds so much context that we don’t get in Episodes V and VI. Luke literally goes from confused at the end of Empire, to confident and more or less self assured at the start of Jedi.
He was confident at the End of Empire. Luke was putting the lessons learned from Master Yoda into practice. People tend to forget that Luke was a seasoned commander in the rebellion and the Leader of Rogue Squadron. Him throwing a tantrum like this is conduct unbecoming an officer.
AWESOME brother!!!! Luke is seriously still my hero today. I wished Lucas would have continued Star Wars after The Return of the Jedi way back in the early 80s with another one or two Star Wars movie centered around Luke afterwards. I think it would have made for at least two AWESOME movies that would have taken Star Wars back then into the early 90s and given us an opportunity to be able to look back and have seen Luke in his prime giving all us fans a glimpse as to what Anikin would have been like had he not been half of what his full potential would have been had Kenobi not cut half of his force abilities literally off thus limiting him even as Vader as to what he would or could have truly been. Luke would have been a blast to see in his prime in full JEDI action!!!! Great video man. Do more on Luke if you dont mind and have the time to create some more LUKE SKYWALKER content. Seems like Luke got angry often - I don't think they would have trained him if he wasn't their only hope. They made lots of exceptions for him I think. The first one being he was in his twenties when he started training...and they said Anakin was too old to train when he was nine. The second one being that Luke put his friends and (unbeknownst to him) his sister before his training during Empire Strikes Back. Anakin was warned at nine years old when he told the council he missed his mother. Among other things. Don't get me wrong I love Luke - just an observation! Plus Anakin is my favorite character!

@@danielclark241 I remember the game... I was too broke to afford it, but a had a demo for pc... the first level... I spent hours playing that battle over and over again. At one point I did start getting pissed because I wanted to know the rest of the story... my older brother comes out of his room, slams his copy of Shadows on the table in front of me, says shut up and read... shadows was my first EU novel, followed immediately by the Thrawn trilogy... by the time I was graduating, I'd read almost the whole collection (as of roughly 2002). Never felt much need for a sequel trilogy... now that it happened, I wish it hadn't...
It was pretty good first issue and setting up so cool stuff. I love seeing Luke coming to term with Vader being his father, seeing how Lando will become a General in the Rebellion, nice to see Poe's parents get integrated more and I'm like the intro of Commander Zahra cause she could be a cool villain and the hints to her past dealings with Leia and Palpatine & Vader for some reason giving her a second chance leaves room for cool development. Hopefully as the series goes on we can see Hera, Rex, Zeb and Kallus show up.
I Hope that Ahsoka senses Luke's anger about Vader's identity. Ezra: Did you Hear It? Ahsoka: Yes, Luke Is anger that Obi-Wan and Yoda lied at him (Later.....) Vader: So do you Hear that my son Is anger that Obi-Wan and Yoda lied at him about me?
Had me up until Luke started controlling all the Tie-Fighter. That is a Disney thing right there that they will point to when they try to justify Rey. I admit I don't know everything, but I do not remember anywhere in the old EU where any Force user could do that. Influence battles through Battle Meditation is one thing, fully remote controlling multiple fighters is another.
Gonna be honest here. Luke destroying all of the tie fighters was pretty far fetched. He doesn’t seem that powerful yet in 5 and it feels like a Disney Rey moment
Well, it does say that Luke is releasing all of his frustration and confusion, and as we know, the force is pretty powerful when used in anger. But it does look a bit exagerated, I can't deny that.
I am really hyped of that we finally get information about how Luke became a master and how he got he's green saber. I hope the next part is coming fast.
Maybe Ahsoka told Luke to find a new lightsaber before they will Met After the Battle of Endor while the Skywalker's lightsaber will be at the hand of Ezra to fight against Thrawn at Naboo
I honestly really loved this comic. It’s amazing how we finally get an inside into the time period between episodes V and VI. Luke doesn’t have his robot hand yet I noticed too?
Thank you for summarizing. A lot of that sounds really interesting, but again, they overpower Luke. Ridiculously so. He just learned to lift some rocks on Dagobah, can't even lift his X-wing, but he has the surgical precision with the Force to disable a dozen TIE navigation computers? *slams palm to head* And then, of course, we MUST tie this to the Sequel Trilogy because...Disney. I'll pass, but thanks for the summary.
What happens with Luke's 2nd display of emotions, is indeed as when Vader finally let it sink in, that he has a son. I'm assuming that is intentional. Luke's 1st display of emotions - my first thought was that it's supposed to validate Rey's emotional display in Rise of Skywalker. It also serves to show visually Luke's strong force potential.
He founded the Jedi Academy, had some nice adventures with Kyle Katarn, beat Joruus C'baoth, got married, defended the Galaxy against the Vong and beat the shit out of the mightiest force being in existence. Basically he did right! Thats the only canon i need.
Since there’s no video for it but the scene is shown In this video. Why doesn’t Luke’s saber continue through Vader’s shoulder when he strikes him? Right before he loses his hand. Shouldn’t it continue straight through the arm?
I get chills every time you narrated a comic! :-) You have such a good and calm voice that it is a treat to hear you narrating! :-) Keep up the good work! :-)
One thing always botheres me is how Leia is not seeing Lando's point of view. She makes it seem like it was easy for Lando to not betray them, but had he chosen not to, the Empire would had destroyed Cloud City along with all its inhabinants. Lando was simply protecting his people even if his actions were to stab his friends in the back. And here Leia is supposed to be this heroic character who values the lives of others before her own, yet in this comic she does not show that at all.
Also think about it irl. A guy you kinda knew 10 years ago who tricked you in poker and stole your car, arrived at your house with some random people and is wanted by the police. Are risk your entire life as an ambassador for this acquaintance? Sure you kinda liked his dog but would you betray the police for him?

At one point I did start getting pissed because I wanted to know the rest of the story... my older brother comes out of his room, slams his copy of Shadows on the table in front of me, says shut up and read... shadows was my first EU novel, followed immediately by the Thrawn trilogy... by the time I was graduating, I'd read almost the whole collection (as of roughly 2002). Never felt much need for a sequel trilogy... now that it happened, I wish it hadn't...
Randumb Rantz calm down fanboy. Go and smell some roses
I hope Luke encounters Rex, and Lando forms the Bond with Luke and Wedge that wasn’t really shown in the films but existed in heir to the Empire.
Ahsoka: Yes, Luke Is anger that Obi-Wan and Yoda lied at him
(Later.....)
Vader: So do you Hear that my son Is anger that Obi-Wan and Yoda lied at him about me?
I love the jabba laugh in the background when he says jabba
"Not much really goes on"
Welcome to Disney Marvel Comics.
Can we start a petition and make Shadows of the Empire canon? It was the best storyline between 5 and 6.
SWT: I’m not gonna bring this comic to life.
*brings it to life*
😂
Honestly your voice acting is fantastic and that's kinda scary
Had me up until Luke started controlling all the Tie-Fighter. That is a Disney thing right there that they will point to when they try to justify Rey.
I admit I don't know everything, but I do not remember anywhere in the old EU where any Force user could do that.
Influence battles through Battle Meditation is one thing, fully remote controlling multiple fighters is another.
supprisinly quite a few time in the EU Jacen Solo, Galen Marek, Yoda too. It's a stretch but I'll let it pass.
Gonna be honest here. Luke destroying all of the tie fighters was pretty far fetched. He doesn’t seem that powerful yet in 5 and it feels like a Disney Rey moment
Disney at it’s best.
Gapplebee dude it’s the original trilogy Luke’s a Mary Sue in this trilogy
"Partial success does not exist." can also be seen as an expression of Sith absolutism.
Jedi’s must face there own fear to be a good Jedi
Anakin: Me VS. Sand
I have a very nice theory . What if the zillo beast was actually able to warn the Jedi about palpitine
We already had this story.
It was called Shadows of the Empire.
Exactly
Thank you
I like the way they show Luke angry like Vader when he learn he had a son and had lost padme
There's really nice character development for Luke in this one. I'm impressed.
Amazing Video SWT !!
He founded the Jedi Academy, had some nice adventures with Kyle Katarn, beat
Joruus C'baoth, got married, defended the Galaxy against the Vong and beat the shit out of the mightiest force being in existence. Basically he did right! Thats the only canon i need.
Since there’s no video for it but the scene is shown In this video. Why doesn’t Luke’s saber continue through Vader’s shoulder when he strikes him? Right before he loses his hand. Shouldn’t it continue straight through the arm?
Luke was at this point disarmed...😂 Great cover and book Always prefer this Luke Skywalker over Jake!💯 looking forward to the next one🔥🐉👊👍
I am thrilled to see where these comics take us, especially with Luke and how he becomes the beloved badass in return of the Jedi.
After ESB Luke became a superhero called the Right Hand Man🤚
Oh god, i just saw that Marvel "Humor" at 2:20 when C-3po talks about Jabba the Hutt...
Guess it carries over to comics now
I hope Shadows of the Empire remains.
I get chills every time you narrated a comic! :-) You have such a good and calm voice that it is a treat to hear you narrating! :-) Keep up the good work! :-)
Well, he still had one hand, so...
Post nut clarity
I’ve been watching your videos for about a year now and they really inspire me. Thanks for making such good content keep up the good work
One thing always botheres me is how Leia is not seeing Lando's point of view.
Luke’s awakening that’s what this series should be called
This is pretty awesome.Saw it yesterday. Battle vs the Empire. And then we saw Luke in Return of the Jedi :) May the Force be with you too
I’m actually excited for this series of videos! Always wanted to know these things!
How much you wanna bet they’re gonna set up the change from Luke to Jake early with these comics?
YES!!!! It parallels that back to when Vader found out he has a son, it rhymes, like poetry.
