- Graham-Field’s Basic American Beds: Quality You Can Trust, Built in the USA
Since 1940, Graham-Field has been proudly manufacturing Basic American Beds in our Fond du Lac, Wisconsin facility. In our 400,000-square-foot facility, Graham-Field’s dedicated employees work hard to bring the highest quality long-term care and home care beds to patients and residents across the country and worldwide. Every year, we produce around 25,000 long-term care and homecare beds, all crafted with American steel as the foundation for durability and strength.
The bed manufacturing process at Graham-Field is a multi-step journey that begins with receiving high-quality American steel, arriving at our facility several times per week. Our manufacturing process is led by skilled staff using precision bending, stamping, and laser tube cutting to ensure the accuracy and consistency of each piece. We employ state-of-the-art laser tube cutting technology for consistent measurement and metal framing uniformity, which results in every bed being precisely built to the highest standards of structural durability.
In 2023, we proudly invested in a second robotic laser tube cutter as part of our ongoing commitment to our “Made in USA” strategy. Robotic welders are also used for large assemblies, allowing us to bond materials quickly and assemble beds more efficiently to meet customer demands. During the process, our teams work together to fasten sub-assemblies and stack them, preparing them for the final stages of production.
Each bed frame component undergoes a rigorous prewash, coating, and finishing process through our advanced powder coating line. Our in-house powder coating capability also enables us to apply antimicrobial coatings that are electrostatically bonded to the steel frames and baked for maximum durability. This antimicrobial protection helps reduce odor, stain-causing microbes, and bacterial growth on the bed frame, providing enhanced safety for patients and long-term use for healthcare providers.
After final assembly, each bed is carefully packaged and labeled with clear instructions and serial numbers for tracking. We are proud to provide American-made home care and extended care beds of unmatched quality, knowing that each bed will be used by someone’s loved one, ensuring a comfortable stay in any care setting.
With over four decades of experience in manufacturing extended care beds, Basic American Beds by Graham-Field is known for quality proven by the tens of thousands of beds in service. We are proud to say, “Made in USA, right here in Fond du Lac, WI.” Our commitment to quality and comfort sets Basic American Beds apart, providing peace of mind to families, caregivers, and healthcare facilities worldwide.
